Behaviour of ultra-high strength concrete encased steel columns subject to ISO-834 fire

  • Ultra-high strength concrete (UHSC) encased steel columns are receiving growing interest in high-rise buildings owing to their economic and architectural advantages. However, UHSC encased steel columns are not covered by the modern fire safety design code. A total of 14 fire tests are conducted on UHSC (120 MPa) encased steel columns under constant axial loads and exposed to ISO-834 standard fire. The effect of load ratio, slenderness, stirrup spacing, cross-section size and concrete cover to core steel on the fire resistance and failure mode of the specimens are investigated. The applicability of the tabulated method in EC4 (EN 1994-1-2-2005) and regression formula in Chinese code (DBJ/T 15-81-2011) to fire resistance of UHSC encased steel columns are checked. Generally, the test results reveal that the vertical displacement-heating time curves can be divided into two phases, i.e. thermal expansion and shortening to failure. It is found that the fire resistance of column specimens increases with the increase of the cross-section size and concrete cover to core steel, but decreases with the increase of the load ratio and slenderness. The EC4 method overestimates the fire resistance up to 186% (220 min), while the Chinese code underestimates it down to 49%. The Chinese code has a better agreement than EC4 with the test results since the former considers the effect of the load ratio, slenderness, cross section size directly in its empirical formula. To estimate the fire resistance precisely can improve the economy of structural fire design of ultra-high strength concrete encased steel columns.

Laminar Burning Velocities of Propane and Iso-Octane Fuels for Stratified Charged Combustion Modeling (성층화 혼합기 연소 모델링을 위한 프로판 및 이소옥탄 연료의 층류 화염 속도)

  • Laminar burning velocities of propane- and iso-octane-air mixtures have been numerically modelled over a wide range of equivalence ratio, pressure and temperature. These correlations are applicable to the modelling of stratified charged combustion like that of lean bum and GDI engine combustion. The numerical models are based on the results calculated by PREMIX code with Sloane's detailed chemical reaction mechanism for propane and FlameMaster code with Peters' for iso-octane. Laminar burning velocity for two fuels showed a pressure and temperature dependence in the following form, in the range of $0.1{\sim}4MPa$, and $300{\sim}1000K$, respectively. $S_L={\alpha}\;{\exp}[-\xi({\phi}-{\phi}_m)^2-{\exp}\{-{\xi}({\phi}-{\phi}_m)\}-{\xi}({\phi}-{\phi}_m)]$ where ${\phi}_m=1.07$, and both of ${\alpha}$ and ${\xi}$ are functions of pressure and temperature. Compared with the results of the existing models, those of the present one showed the good agreement of the recent experiment data, especially in the range of lean and rich sides. Judging from the calculated results of the stratified charged combustion by using STAR-CD, the above modelling prove to be more suitable than the other ones.

  • ISO 14649 is a new interface (or language) standard for the CAD-CAM -CNC chain, currently under establishment by ISO TC184 SCI and SC4 . Upon completion, it will replace ISO 6983, so called M amp; G codes used for CNC since 1950' s. As the new language is being established, a new CNC controller called STEP-CNC (STEP­compliant CNC), capable of carrying out various intelligent tasks using the new language as an input, receives worldwide attention. In this paper, we present a distributed architecture for STEP-NC system based on the generic paradigm of STEP-NC. The STEP-NC system is consisted of 3 sub-systems: 1) CGS (Code Generation System), 2) CES (Code Edit System), and 3) ACS (Autonomous Control System). Also presented in this paper is algorithm for delta volume decomposition, a crucial algorithm for developing CGS. First method is based on the cutting tool and the second method is based on the turning features commonly used in the shop floor. An illustrative example is given to compare the two methods, and to illustrate usage scenario of the delta volume in the turning STEP- NC system under development.

  • 국제 표준화 기구 (ISO) 에서 1992 년 ISO 10646-1 을 확정하였다. ISO 10646-1에 들어 있는 국제 표준 한글 부호계에는 현재까지 발견된 옛한글 글자가 모두 들어 있다. 이전에는 옛한글에 대한 표준 부호계가 없어서 옛한글 자료에 대한 전산화에 큰 걸림돌이 되었으나, 국제 표준 한글 부호계의 등장으로 이러한 문제가 해결되었다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 국제 표준 한글 부호계를 유닉스의 X-window 환경에서 지원하는 방안에 대해 살펴보고, 국제 표준 한글 부효계를 지원하는 관계형 데이터베이스 한글 사용자 질의 환경을 개발하므로써, 지원 방안의 실증과 함께 옛한글 자료를 데이터베이스화하기 위한 바탕을 마련하였다.

  • In order to improve the life and reliability of fluid components used in the Automotive, Hydraulics and Aerospace industries, the cleanliness of the system parts and components before their assembly into the system is being addressed. The measurement of components and parts cleanliness is related to contaminant collection, analysis and data reporting and ISO Standard are continually being developed to control procedures. This Paper explains the processes in these standards and explains how similar procedures have been adapted to suit the requirements of the respective Industry. It also gives guidance and recommendations on the implementation of these standards, so that best use can be made of them.

  • STEP-NC 는 기존의 G-code 를 대체할 새로운 CNC 인터페이스 언어로써 현재 밀링 공정에 대해서는 국제 표준 단계에 있으며 조만간 기존의 G-code 를 대체할 것으로 기대된다. 그러므로 국내에서도 CAD-CAM 업체, CNC maker, 공작기계 제작 업체, 사용자 등 생산 환경 전반에 걸쳐 이에 대한 대응이 시급하다. 본 논문에서는 국내에서의 STEP-NC 의 promotion 을 위해 1) STEP-NC data model 을 분석하고, 2) 파트 프로그램의 작성 방법을 자세히 설명하고, 3) STEP AP203 CAD 파일로부터 STEP-NC 파트 프로그램을 생성하는 과정을 Korea STEP-NC 시스템을 통해서 설명하였다.

  • This paper describes the method of establishing efficient system for the control of quality records. To establish the best control system of quality records, the organization must not only understand ISO Code requirements for quality record complectly but also identify the documents to be controlled as a quality records correctly. In addition, when establishing the system, the organization must absolutely consider the fact that quality records shall be maintained to demonstrate conformance to specified requirements and the effective operation of the quality system. This will provide the guidance which need to establish the system for quality control to the organization which produces documents in accordance with ISO Code requirements.

  • 현재 정보 관련 응용 분야 가운데 ISO 2022 를 따르는 분야가 아주 않은데, 현재 쓰고 있는 한글 부호계들은 ISO 2022 를 절대로 지원하지 못하거나, ISO 2022를 지원하더라도 한글을 재대로 지원하지 못하는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 ISO 2022 를 지원하면서 한글을 제대로 지원하는 새로운 한 바이트 한글 부호계를 만들었다. 새로운 한 바이트 한글 부호계는 요즘 한글 11,172 소리마디를 모두 표현 할 수 있으며, 불완전한 소리마디를 나타내는 방법으로 기존의 채움 글자 방식을 버리고 자연스럽고 한글의 특성에 맞는 뗌 글자 방식을 택하였다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 한 바이트 한글 부호계를 지원하는 X-Window용 한글 문서 편집기를 개발해 봄으로써 그 운용 가능성을 검증하였다. 한 바이트 한글 부호계를 지원하는 문서 편집기의 운용 환경으로 유닉스 운영체제 하에서 돌아가는 X-Window 시스템을 택하였고, 한글 입출력 부분을 모티프 (Motif)의 위짓 (widget) 형태로 구현하여 다른 응용 프로그램에서도 쉽게 한 바이트 한글 부호계를 지원할 수 있게 하였다.

  • Recently, there are emphasized to support the maintenance and management system of vessels using acquired data from engine part equipment. But, there are limitations for data exchange and management. To solve the problem, the ISO published ISO 19847 and 19848. In this paper, we analyze the ISO 19848 requirements related to identify data channel ID for ship equipment, and propose the examples for applying encoding techniques. In addition, we suggest the proposed technique for applying of managing the failure and maintenance type of the ship's engine part facilities by examples. If this method is applied, the vessel's equipment can exchange data through the sharing of the code table, and express what response is needed or acted, including where the failure occurred.

  • The fire performance evaluation methods in Korea and overseas for interior finish materials were analysed and tested with gypsum board and Plywood by using room corner test not adopted by domestic code until now. The results of gypsum board (thickness:8 mm) and Plywood (thickness:4 mm) applying NFPA 265 and ISO 9705 test respectively are satisfied the assessment criteria. To assess a actual fire performance and classify fire hazard levels for interior finish materials, room-corner test and flame spread models should be adopted in building code and fire code to overcome limitations of current bench-scale test method.
