Dynamic binary instrumentation is a code insertion technique for debugging a program without scattering its execution flow, while the program is running. Most dynamic instrumentations are implemented using dynamic binary translation techniques. Existing studies translated program codes dynamically by parsing the machine code stream to intermediate representation (IR) and then applying compilation techniques for IRs. However, they have high overhead during translation, which is a major cause of difficulty in applying the dynamic binary translation technique to the program which requires high responsiveness. In this paper, we introduce a light-weight dynamic binary instrumentation framework based on a novel dynamic binary translation technique which has low overhead while translating the program code. In order to reduce the translation overhead, our approach adopts a tabular-based address translation and exploits a translation bypassing scheme, which stores the translated address of a frequently called library function in advance. It then accesses the translated address and executes function codes without code translation when calling the function. Our experiment results demonstrated that the proposed approach outperforms the prior dynamic binary translation techniques from 2% up to 65%.
This case analyzed the efficiency of 79 R&D projects performed within one private research center in machine tools industry. DEA was used for efficiency analysis. Input variables were R&D investment expense and man-month. Output variables were achievement rate on target development period and expected net sales within 5-years. Samples are divided into product development, Prior technology development, and control technology development. The key result is that Prior technology showed the lowest efficiency because of high uncertainty. It was so difficult to determine its goals and to make its specific plans. With respect to scale, the proportions of CRS(constant returns to scale) were 34.6%, 14.3% and 38.9% for product development, prior technology, control technology respectively. As for IRS(increase returns to scale), they were 53.8%, 85.7% and 38.9% for product development, prior technology, control technology respectively. As for DRS(decrease returns to scale) they were 11.5%, 0% and 22.2% for product development, prior technology, control technology respectively. On the whole, in this case, insufficient input was more problematic than excessive input, which means the lack of investment in R&D. Prior technology can be the source of the future competitiveness of companies. To operate inefficient DMU efficiently, the optimal input should be managed and it is derived from comparison with the reference group.
In a wireless client server environment, data broadcasting is an efficient data dissemination method; a server broadcasts data, and some of broadcasted data are cached in a mobile client's cache to save the narrow communication bandwidth, limited resources, and data access time. A server also broadcasts invalidation reports to maintain the consistency between server data and a client's cached data. Most of existing works on the cache consistency problems simply purge the entire cache when the disconnection time is long enough to miss the certain amount(window size) of IRs. This paper presents a cache invalidation method to increase mobile clients' cache reusability in case of a long disconnection. Instead of simply dropping the entire cache regardless of its consistency, a client estimates the cost of purging all the data with the cost of selective purge. If the cost of dropping entire cache is higher, a client maintains the cache and selectively purge inconsistent data using uplink bandwidth for validation request. The simulation results show that this scheme increases the cache reusability since it effectively considers the update rates and the broadcast frequencies of cached data in estimating the cost of cache maintenance.
Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the effects of Angelicae gigantis Radix (AGR) which is one of the most useful herbal-drug to treat patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in Oriental medicine on gene expression of ovary tissue. Methods: The effects of AGR on gene expression of ovary tissue resected from PCOS induced rats using single injection of $\ss$-Estradiol 17-valerate (EV) was measured using microarray technique, and the functional analysis on these genes was conducted. Results: Total 2,812 genes were up-regulated or down-regulated, 1,421 genes were up-regulated, 1,391 genes were down-regulated by induction of PCOS. Up-regulated genes were mainly involved in biological function such as cell signalling pathways and inflammatory response. Expression levels of 1,442 genes were restored to those of naive animals by administration of AGR. 558 genes were restored to those of naive animals, which were lowered by induction of PCOS. 884 genes were lowered to naive levels, which were elevated by induction of PCOS. The functions of restored genes were partially involved in the restoration of expression levels, which were changed by induction of PCOS. Especially, up-regulated gene by induction of PCOS were mainly involved in these changes. These results mean restorative effects of AGR on damaged functions by induction of PCOS. The network of total protein interactions was measured using cytoscape program, and some key molecules, such as IRS2, MCM10, ORC2L related in up-regulated genes, CTBP2, CD44, RHOA, related in down-regulated genes that can be used for elucidation of therapeutical mechanism of medicine in future were identified. Conclusion: Restored genes by AGR were thought to have common pathways related in regulation of gene expressions. Especially, genes in restored expression levels by AGR, which were up-regulated by induction of PCOS, were regulated by 9 of common transcription factors, genes in restored expression levels by AGR, which were down-regulated by induction of PCOS, were involved in 25 of common transcription factors.

영상 정합시 정확도에 영향을 미치는 인자들에 관한 실험 결과 센서의 파장, 계절, Chip 영상의 크기 등이 큰 영향을 미쳤으며 영상정합을 위해 영상 GCP를 데이터베이스에서 검색할 때 이에 대한 고려가 우선적으로 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.n of hub-and-spoke system, integration of logistics bases, introduction of (automatic) parking building, diversification of transportation mode, and etc. At the same time, we constructed three practically executable scenarios based on those ideas. Objective: To explore the sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to chemotherapy drugs in elderly patients and its correlation with cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in cancer tissue. Materials and Methods: Forty-three elderly patients with gastric cancer (observation group) and 31 young patients with gastrointestinal tumors (control group) who were all diagnosed by pathology and underwent surgery in the 89th Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army were selected. Drug sensitivity testing of tumor cells in primary culture was carried out in both groups using a methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method, and the expression of COX-2 and the factors related to multi-drug resistance (MDR) in cancer tissue were assessed by immunohistochemistry. Results: The inhibition rates (IR) of vincristine (VCR), 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), oxaliplatin (L-OHP), mitomycin (MMC) and epirubicin (eADM) on tumor cells in the observation group were dramatically lower than in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The positive rates of COX-2, glutathione s-transferase-${\pi}$ (GST-${\pi}$) and P glycoprotein (P-gp) expression in cancer tissue in the observation group were all higher than in control group (P<0.05), while that of DNA topoisomerase $II{\alpha}$ ($TopoII{\alpha}$) expression lower than in the control group (P<0.01). In the observation group, COX-2 expression in cancer tissue had a significantly-positive correlation with GST-${\pi}$ and P-gp (r=0.855, P=0.000; r=0.240, P=0.026), but a negative correlation with $TopoII{\alpha}$ (r=-0.328, P=0.002). In the control group, COX-2 expression in cancer tissue was only correlated with P-gp positively (r=0.320, P=0.011). Bivariate correlation analysis displayed that COX-2 expression in cancer tissue in the observation group had a significantly-negative correlation with the IRs of 5-FU, L-OHP, paclitaxel (PTX) and eADM in tumor cells (r=-0.723, P=0.000; r=-0.570, P=0.000; r=-0.919, P=0.000; r=-0.781, P=0.000), but with hydroxycamptothecine (HCPT), VCR and 5-FU in the control group (r=-0.915, P=0.000; r=-0.890, P=0.000; r=-0.949, P=0.000). Conclusions: Gastric cancer cells in elderly patients feature stronger MDR, which may be related to high COX-2 expression.
Twenty five isolates of Alternaria were obtained from various solanaceous crops in Korea. For all isolates, morphological characteristics of the conidia were determined and compared with those of representative isolates of A. solani and A. tomatophila. A selection of the isolates and the representative Alternaria isolates were evaluated for Pathogenicity to potato, tomato, egg plant and red pepper. Molecular characteristics of 17 isolates of Alternaria inculding the representative isolates were determined using sequence analysis of IRS rDNA and histone H3 gene, and URP-PCR analysis. Based on morphological characteristics, the isolates from the solanaceous crops were grouped as identical or very similar to either A. tomatophila (ATO), A. solani (ASO), and unidentified Alternaria sp. (ASP). Isolates of ASO were moderately pathogenic to all the solanaceous crops tested, but ATO isolates were highly pathogenic to tomato and the ASP isolate was pathogenic only to potato. Among the molecular markers used in this study, the URP-PCR analysis was found to be appropriate for taxonomic resolution of these species. Based on the conidial morphology, pathogenicity test and molecular characteristics, A. tomatophila (early blight of tomato) could be distinguished from A. solani (early blight of potato), and the Alternaria sp. (ASP) from potato, which was closely related to ASO in conidial morphology, was considered as a new species.

In the mobile computing environment, caching data at the client's side is a useful technique for improving the performance. For caching to be effective, the cache contents must be consistent with those stored in the server. That is, unfortunately, difficult to enforce due to the frequent disconnection and mobility of clients. In the literature, the basic approach adopted is for the sever to periodically broadcast invalidation reports(IRs) that contain information about objects that have been updated recently. However IR-based cache maintenance scheme has a main drawback. Any client who has been disconnected longer than w seconds has to discard all cached items even some of them may still be valid. In this paper, we propose two main schemes which can adapt clients' losing IR messages by long disconnection. First, the client sends its disconnection time when connection is re-established, and the server uses this information to decide the size of broadcast window w dynamically. Second, the server maintains IR messages for a given period of time and a client who has been disconnected longer than w seconds can verify its cache consistency individually. Compared to previous IR-based schemes, our schemes can significantly reduce cache missing and uplink request and improve the throughput by reducing response time.

Visualization of documents will help users when they do search similar documents. and all research in information retrieval addresses itself to the problem of a user with an information need facing a data source containing an acceptable solution to that need. In various contexts. adequate solutions to this problem have included alphabetized cubbyholes housing papyrus rolls. microfilm registers. card catalogs and inverted files coded onto discs. Many information retrieval systems rely on the use of a document surrogate. Though they might be surprise to discover it. nearly every information seeker uses an array of document surrogates. Summaries. tables of contents. abstracts. reviews, and MARC recordsthese are all document surrogates. That is, they stand infor a document allowing a user to make some decision regarding it. whether to retrieve a book from the stacks, whether to read an entire article, etc. In this paper another type of document surrogate is investigated using a grouping method of term list. lising Multidimensional Scaling Method (MDS) those surrogates are visualized on two-dimensional graph. The distances between dots on the two-dimensional graph can be represented as the similarity of the documents. More close the distance. more similar the documents.
Bisphenol A (BPA), an environmental endocrine disrupter, enters the human body continuously in food and drink. Young children are likely to be more vulnerable than adults to chemical exposure due to the immaturities of their organ systems, rapid physical development, and higher ventilation, metabolic rates, and activity levels. The direct effect of BPA on peripheral tissue might also be of importance to the development of insulin resistance. However, the influence that BPA has on insulin signaling molecules in skeletal muscle has not been previously investigated. In this study, we examined the effect of BPA on fasting blood glucose (FBG) in post-weaned Wistar rats and on insulin signaling proteins in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. Subsequently, we investigated the effects of BPA on insulin-mediated Akt phosphorylation in C2C12 myotubes. In rats, BPA treatment (0.1-1,000 ng/mL for 24 hours) resulted in the increase of FBG and plasma insulin levels, and reduced insulin-mediated Akt phosphorylation. Furthermore, the mRNA expression of insulin receptor (IR) was decreased after 24 hours of BPA treatment in C2C12 cells in a dose-dependent manner, whereas the mRNA levels of other insulin signaling proteins, including insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1) and 5'-AMP-dependent protein kinase (AMPK), were unaffected. Treatment with BPA increased GLUT4 expression and protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) activity in C2C12 myotubes, but not in protein levels. We conclude that exposure to BPA can induce insulin resistance by decreasing IR gene expression, which is followed by a decrease in insulin- mediated Akt activation and increased PTP1B activity.
