Spectra of Road Surface Roughness on Bridges of Minor Road (지방도 도로교 노면조도의 스펙트럼)

  • The power spectral density (PSD) for the road surface roughness on the bridges of minor roads in Wonju city and Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do is presented. To obtain the PSD, the road surface roughness on 18 different bridges with various superstructure type and span is measured by GPS at every 10 to 30cm interval. Assuming the PSD as the stationary normal probability process with zero mean value, the PSD of measured road surface roughness is obtained by applying the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM). A simple formula in evaluating the PSD of RC slab bridge, Rahmen bridge and PSC I-girder bridge which is applicable to the dynamic response analysis of bridges considering the road surface roughness is proposed. Using the calculated PSD curves, the road surface conditions on the 18 bridges are evaluated. The statistical relationship between the PSD and the IRI is presented by applying linear regression and correlation analysis.

Eddy Current and Ultrasonic IRIS Signal Characteristics of Reboiler Tube by Using STS 316L Calibration Specimen (STS 316L 교정시험편을 이용한 재가열기 튜브의 와전류신호와 초음파 IRIS 신호 특성)

  • In this study, a field applicability of reboiler tube was evaluated by comparing ECT signal with IRIS signal about wall loss rate and remaining wall thickness using worked austenite STS 316L ASME standard calibration tube. In the case of wall-loss rate, as a result, tolerance about $20%{\times}4$ flat bottom hole and 10% O D groove(ECT), 80% defect and 10% O D groove(IRIS) occurred up to ${\pm}15%$. In the case of remaining wall thickness, ECT was satisfied with the both tolerance, but tolerance about 80% defect occurred up to ${\pm}15%$ in IRIS. Therefore, if the IRIS is performed for interpretation of non-relevant indication and measurement of wall-loss rate after ECT, reliability is supposed to be improved.

Estimation of Dynamic Load Amplification Factors under Various Roughness Indices and Vehicle Classes (주행차량의 종류와 아스팔트 콘크리트 포장 평탄성에 따른 동적하중 증가계수 산정)

  • In this study, frequently passing vehicles with two, three, four, and five axles were chosen through traffic volume analysis in Kyung-In Expressway in order to analyze how the road roughness and vehicle speed affect on the dynamic loads for roads in various vehicle classes. Dynamic loads according to chosen vehicles are estimated by TruckSim program. Dynamic load amplification factor is ratio between dynamic and static loads, and it is also determined for each vehicle classes. From the result of dynamic loads estimated by the dynamic load amplification factor, it is shown that for three-axles vehicle, when IRI is 3.5 and vehicle speed is 100km/hr, asphalt pavements receive additional 36% of static loads in maximum. The analysis of the amplification factor according to each vehicle classes also indicates that the amplification factor increases as the distance between the axles becomes smaller and each axle receives more loads.

Quality Characteristics of Fresh and Cooked Soybean Sprouts by Cultivars (콩나물콩 품종에 따른 콩나물 및 콩나물 무침의 품질특성)

  • Eight varieties of soybean sprouts cultivated for 5 days at 20$^{\circ}C$, 95% humidity, and the cooked soybean sprouts (kongnamulmuchim) were compared in growth characteristics, chemical composition, textural properties, and sensory characteristics.‘Iri 3’and‘Nunjumbagitae’were the highest in growth response and yield, respectively, and the next was ‘Junjuri’.‘Junjuri’was the highest in vitamin C content. The contents of aspartic acid and glutamic acid among amino acids were relatively high in‘Pureunkong’and‘Junjuri’.‘Iri 5’was the highest and ‘Iksannamulkong’, the lowest in hardness of hypocotyl by texture analyzer. While‘Junjuri’was the highest in sweetness, roasted nutty odor, and taste, it was the lowest in beany odor.‘Iri 5 was the highest in hardness,‘Junjuri’, in brittleness, and‘Iksannamulkong’, in chewiness of sensory characteristics.‘Over-all acceptability’was the highest in‘Pureunkong’(8.3) and the next was‘Junjuri’(7.4). From the above results, ‘Junjuri’ was considered as the optimum variety for cooked soybean sprout.

Evaluation of Arousal Level to Prevent Drowsy Driving by Fuzzy Inference (졸음운전 방지를 위한 fuzzy 추론에 의한 각성도의 평가)

  • This paper describes the arousal measurement and control system using fuzzy logic to prevent drowsy driving. Sugeno's method was used for fuzzy inference in this study. Arousal evaluation and control criteria were modified from result of Nz-IRI analysis depending on arousal sate. Membership function and rule base of fuzzy inference were determined from the modified arousal level criteria When lRl (Inter-SIR Interval) was shorter than 60sec, outputs of both methods were changed from small to big, but output of three step warning method was same level until the next warning range. Since output of fuzzy inference tracked well the change of subject's arousal level, problems of three step warning method could be overcome by fuzzy inference method Furthermore, the output of the fuzzy inference was highly correlated with Nz(r = 0.99). Therefore, the fuzzy inference method for evaluation and the control of arousal will be more effective at real driving situation than three step warning method.

  • Traffic volume increases according to highway expansion and industrial development which causes repetitive defect and durability degradation on pavement. The research of quality assurance system used abroad has introduced Korea. Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) has developed a Quality Performance Index (QPI) that quantitatively assesses the level of quality of the final product, and practical applications. Assessment factor on concrete pavement consisted of pavement thickness, compressive strength, IRI and spacing factor. Assessment factor on concrete pavement is determined by empirical evaluation factor from abroad. In this study, analysis of evaluation factors of concrete pavement by using pavement life prediction simulation and measured data were evaluated with consideration of feasibility of the assessment factor. Pavement life, performance and durability are affected by pavement thickness, compressive strength, IRI and spacing factor in assessment factor on concrete pavement, QPI.

  • This study was conducted to determine the proper time of corn marketing by cultivating time movement and cultural practice system establish. The rate of development of corn from planting to anther is a function of temperature rather than of photosynthesis. The major yield components of sweet corn for yield increase are more ear heavier grain weight, greater of kernels and heavier 100 grain weight. Early sowing has show yield decrease because yield capacity decreased with the shorting of vegetative growth and it was relatively susceptible to maize black streaked dwarf virus.

Studies on Genetice of Blast Resistance in Rice L Inheritance of Resistance to Specific Races of Blast Fungus and Relationship between Their Resistance and II, VIII, XI and XII Linkage Groups in Some Rice Varieties (수도품종의 도열병 저항성 유전분석 제1보 특정 도열병 균계에 대한 저항성 품종들의 저항성 유전분리와 II, VIII, XI 및 XII번 연관과의 관계)

  • In order to study the genetic system of the blast resistant varieties, the conidial suspension of mutant races of T-2$^{+t}$, N-2$^{+t}$, C-8$^{+t}$ was inoculated at 4-5 leaf stage by injector for F_2 seedlings from the crosses between seven resistant varieties and four maker lines easily detectable at seedling stage. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The fertility of cross between Semi-dwaf testers and Indica resistant varieties except Carreon was about 74 percents. 2. The segregation modes of resistance varied with varieties and blast races. However, the resistance was expressed as dominance in all cases. Tetep, Tadukan and Carreon showed more complicated segregation for resistance than that of the bred lines. 3. For blast races used, four segregation ratios such as 3:1, 9:7, 13:3 and 37:27 were found in the Tatukan, Tetep, and IR747, and three segregation ratios such as 3:1, 13:3 and 15:1 in the Carreon, and two segregation ratios of 3:1 and 13:3 with Suweon 287, Suweon 288, and Iri342. 4. In the segregation of the resistance to the each races, the ratios of 3:1, 13:3, 15:1 were fitted to T-2$^{+t}$, and the ratios of 3:1, 13:3, 9:7 and 37:27 to N-2$^{+t}$ and C-8$^{+t}$. 5. Suweon 287, Suweon 288 and Iri342 carried one simple dominant gene and inhibitor gene was considered in some cross combinations. Meanwhile Tadukan, Tetep and IR747 seemed to carry one to three resistant genes, and in some cross combinations, the expression of these genes were simple dominant, inhibiting, duplicating and complimentary action. 6. Resistance genes to blast races, T-2$^{+t}$, N-2$^{+t}$ and C-8$^{+t}$ in the Tadukan, Tetep, Carreon, Suweon 287, Suweon 288 and Iri342 were found to be independent with the linkage group of II(lg), VIII(la), XI(bc), and XII(gl).bc), and XII(gl).

Food Habits of the Yellow Goosefish, Lophius litulon (황아귀, Lophius litulon의 식성)

  • Stomach contents of 518 specimens of the yellow goosefish, Lophius litulon caught by the off-shore stownet in the southern waters of Korea were examined by means of the calculation of the frequency of occurrence number and weight percentages, and index of relative importance (IRI) in each prey organisms. Prey organisms of the yellow goosefish consist of fishes, crustaceans, cephalopods. Fishes were dominant prey group, and occupied $98.8\%$ in IRI of prey organisms. Four species of fish, Pseudosciaena manchurica Collichthys niveatus, Engraulis japonica, Trichiurus lepturus were dominant as to the IRI and occupied $87.2\%$ of the total IRI. P. manchurica was a dominant prey organism in predator's stomach through the year, and the other dominant prey organisms occurred intermittently with seasonal progress. P. manchurica was a dominant prey organism to all fish size, too. C. niveatus and E. japonica decreased in importance in the diet as the fish size increased concomitant with an increase in importance of T. lepturus. Mean species number and mean individual number of prey organisms increased with the fish size.

A Study of Improvement of Urban Pavement Maintenance Technique based on Pavement Condition Evaluation and FWD Data (도로포장 표면조사와 FWD정보에 기반한 도심지 도로포장 유지보수 기법 개선방안 연구)

  • The objective of this paper is to support accurate pavement condition assessment and decision of proper maintenance method and time by conducting visual inspection and calculating the remaining life of pavement from falling weight deflectometer(FWD) data. Each was implemented in the same long-term performance pavement(LTPP) sections. Visual inspection was executed to measure pavement condition indices such as crack, rutting and international roughness index(IRI) and the Seoul Pavement Index(SPI) was calculated based on these results. The dynamic modulus was back-calculated from the FWD data. The remaining pavement lives were determined from equivalent single axle loading(ESAL) and FWD data. Correlation of maintenance priority by each result value was examined. Consequently, the correlation between remaining life to Crack and Rutting was higher than the other factors or indicesbecause IRI is not related to FWD value and SPI value consists with IRI value and other indices. The R-square value of correlation of FWD with Crack and Rutting was 0.65, which indicated an insufficient correlation. Consequently, when decision of maintenance of method, time, etc. is determined, FWD data have to be considered with Crack and Rutting because of those relations.
