Ceramic foams were prepared by a self-blowing process of a polysiloxane with A1$_2$O$_3$ as a filler. The release of water and ethanol vapor during the condensation reaction of the polymer triggered the pores in the polymer melt. The size. interconnectivity and shape of the pores in the ceramic foams were strongly dependent on the viscosity of the polymer melt, which could be varied by the content and size oi the filler. When the content of the filler inceased and the size of the filler decreased. the size of the pores were decreased and the thickness between the pores were increased. In the addition, the viscosity of polymer melt increased by the pretreatment at 130$^{\circ}C$ for Ire intermolecular cross linking thereby stabilizing the foam structure. The density and compressive strength of the ceramic foams were affected by the heating rate during the blowing process.

This paper is the study for piezoelectric properties of PMN-PT-PZ composition for high power piezoelectric device. It needs the properties such as high mechanical quality factor(Qm), high electromechanical coupling coefficient(kp) and high dielectric strain constant$(d_31)$, and the stable electromechanical properties under high vibration level. For acquiring this results, the value of x is changed in 0.1Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$+(0.9-x)$PbZrO_3+xPbTiO_3$ composition to find MPB(morphotropic phase boundary), and the piezoelectric constants is measured by resonance-antiresonance frequency method, based on IRE Standard. Also, it is measured as a function of the amount of additive, $Nb_2O_5$. When the composition is applied to high power device, the electromechanical properties is measured by laser vibrometer to confirm the reliablity under high vibration level. From these results, PMN-PT-PZ composition is shown excellent properties and capacity of application to high power device.

Recently, deployments of firewalls and NATs ire increasing to provide network security features or to solve the problem of public IP shortage. But, in these environments, peers in different firewall or NAT environments may get limited services because they cannot open direct communicate channels. This can be a significant problem in pure P2P environments where the peers should get or provide services by opening direct channels among themselves. In this paper, we propose a scheme for dynamically selecting a peer that fan be used as a proxy server. The proxy server supports the communication between the peers in different firewall or NAT environments. The proposed scheme is operating system independent and supports bidirectional communication among the peers in P2P environments. Additionally, the proposed scheme can distribute network traffic by dynamically allocating proxy servers to the peers that is not located in the firewall or NAT environments.

When endoplasmic reticulum (ER) functions are perturbed, the ER induces several signaling pathways called unfolded protein response to reestablish ER homeostasis through three ER transmembrane proteins: inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE1), PKR-like ER kinase (PERK), and activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6). Although it is important to measure the activity of ATF6 that can indicate the status of the ER, no specific cell-based reporter assay is currently available. Here, we report a new cell-based method for monitoring ER stress based on the cleavage of $ATF6{\alpha}$ by sequential actions of proteases at the Golgi apparatus during ER stress. A new expressing vector was constructed by using fusion gene of GAL4 DNA binding domain (GAL4DBD) and activation domain derived from herpes simplex virus VP16 protein (VP16AD) followed by a human $ATF6{\alpha}$ N-terminal deletion variant. During ER stress, the GAL4DBD-VP16AD(GV)-$hATF6{\alpha}$ deletion variant was cleaved to liberate active transcription activator encompassing GV-$hATF6{\alpha}$ fragment which could translocate into the nucleus. The translocated GV-$hATF6{\alpha}$ fragment strongly induced the expression of firefly luciferase in HeLa Luciferase Reporter cell line containing a stably integrated 5X GAL4 site-luciferase gene. The established double stable reporter cell line HLR-GV-$hATF6{\alpha}$(333) represents an innovative tool to investigate regulated intramembrane proteolysis of $ATF6{\alpha}$. It can substitute active pATF6(N) binding motif-based reporter cell lines.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze industrial and innovation networks of long-live area of Honam Region and to suggest a policy direction for regional development of rural areas where have been neglected in the knowledge-based information society. Four counties (Sunchang, Damyang, Gokseong, and Gurye) in the Southwestern region of Korea are regarded as long-live belt of Korea. Production and innovation networks :Ire analyzed based on intensive surveys of firms in the belt. Major findings from the surveys are as follows. First, there are considerably strong local networks of production firms in terms of supply of input materials and labor. There are strong backward industrial linkages of the production firms with agricultural activities and considerable forward linkages with tourism industry. In addition, Internet is becoming a useful tool for sales of the new products. Second, the analysis of the innovation networks in the long-live area suggests the development of 'virtual innovation cluster' in the era of knowledge-based information society. The results imply that this innovation networks can be developed as a virtual innovation cluster in the rural areas, which can be the basis for the development of rural innovation systems.
High glucose leads to physio/pathological alterations in diabetes patients. We investigated collagen production in human gingival cells that were cultured in high concentrations of glucose. Collagen synthesis and secretion were increased when the cells were exposed to high concentrations of glucose. We examined endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response because glucose metabolism is related to ER functional status. An ER stress response including the expression of glucose regulated protein 78 (GRP78), C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP), inositol requiring enzyme alpha (IRE-$1{\alpha}$) and phosphoreukaryotic initiation factor alpha (p-eIF-$2{\alpha}$) was activated in the presence of high glucose. Activating transcription factor 4 (ATF-4), a downstream protein of p-eIF-$2{\alpha}$ as well as a transcription factor for collagen, was also phosphorylated and translocalized into the nucleus. The chemical chaperone 4-PBA inhibited the ER stress response and ATF-4 phosphorylation as well as nuclear translocation. Our results suggest that high concentrations of glucose-induced collagen are linked to ER stress and the associated phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of ATF-4.
An automatic measuring system of three dimensional shape by a projection method with grating pattern from in optical spatial modulator has been developed. The characteristics of the system were studied. This system is composed of a projector, an optical spatial modulator, a CCD camera, and computer. A liquid crystal is used as the optical spatial modulator. The grating patterns that ire projected on the surface of the object are controlled by the computer connected with the optical spatial modulator. The projector patterns are measured by the CCD camera. The data are transferred to the computer. After a transformation into line data, the data are analyzed to obtain the coordinate of the surface of the object. This system has advantages as follows. (1) It is possible to capture the surface topography without any contact. (2) The time required for the measurements is shorter than the light-section method. (3) An optical spatial modulator using a liquid crystal is possible to control the grating patterns accurately by a computer. Surfaces of a plate and a cylinder were measured. The threshold level had an influence on the measurement. It was shown that this system has adequae accuracy in the measurements.

In this paper, we propose a new PCA-based LDA Mixture Algorithm(PLMA) for real-time face recognition system. This system greatly consists of the two parts: 1) face extraction part; 2) face recognition part. In the face extraction part we applied subtraction image, color filtering, eyes and mouth region detection, and normalization method, and in the face recognition part we used the method mixing PCA and LDA in extracted face candidate region images. The existing recognition system using only PCA showed low recognition rates, and it is hard in the recognition system using only LDA to apply LDA to the input images as it is when the number of image pixels ire small as compared with the training set. To overcome these shortcomings, we reduced dimension as we apply PCA to the normalized images, and apply LDA to the compressed images, therefore it is possible for us to do real-time recognition, and we are also capable of improving recognition rates. We have experimented using self-organized DAUface database to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperform PCA, LDA and ICA method within the framework of recognition accuracy.
