디스플레이 패널에 집적이 가능한 적외선 포토센서 (Integrated IR Photo Sensor for Display Application)

  • This paper presents a study of an integrated infrared (IR) photo sensor for display application. We fabricated hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin film transistor (a-Si:H TFT) and hydrogenated amorphous silicon germanium thin film transistor (a-SiGe:H TFT) which were bottom gate structure. We investigated the dependence of a-SiGe:H TFT characteristics on incident wavelengths. We proposed photo sensor which responded to wavelengths of IR region. Proposed pixel circuit of photo sensor was consists of switch TFT and photo TFT, and one capacitor. We developed integrated photo sensor circuit and investigated the performance of the proposed sensor circuit according to the input wavelengths. The developed photo sensor circuit with a-SiGe:H TFT was suitable for IR.

Routing Techniques for Data Aggregation in Sensor Networks

  • GR-tree and query aggregation techniques have been proposed for spatial query processing in conventional spatial query processing for wireless sensor networks. Although these spatial query processing techniques consider spatial query optimization, time query optimization is not taken into consideration. The index reorganization cost and communication cost for the parent sensor nodes increase the energy consumption that is required to ensure the most efficient operation in the wireless sensor node. This paper proposes itinerary-based R-tree (IR-tree) for more efficient spatial-temporal query processing in wireless sensor networks. This paper analyzes the performance of previous studies and IR-tree, which are the conventional spatial query processing techniques, with regard to the accuracy, energy consumption, and query processing time of the query results using the wireless sensor data with Uniform, Gauss, and Skew distributions. This paper proves the superiority of the proposed IR-tree-based space-time indexing.

스크린 프린팅 탄소 전극의 이리듐 산화물 표면 개질과 이의 임피던스 센서 응용 (Surface Modification of a Screen-printed Carbon Electrode with Iridium Oxide and Its Application of an Impedance Sensor)

  • 본 연구에서는 스크린 프린팅 공정을 통해 탄소 잉크 기반의 2상 전극을 제작하고, 전극 표면에 이리듐 산화물(IrOx)을 코팅함으로써 전극의 분극 현상을 제어할 수 있는 임피던스 센서를 개발하였다. IrOx는 순환 전압 전류법으로 탄소 전극의 표면 위에 순환 수(0~50 cycles)에 따라서 코팅되었다. 전자주사현미경을 이용하여 cycle 수가 증가할수록 IrOx 입자의 크기와 수가 증가하는 경향성을 확인하였다. 전기화학 임피던스 분석을 이용하여 상기 제조된 센서들의 NaCl 농도에 따른 임피던스 변화 값을 조사하였다. 50 cycle에서 제조된 센서가 가장 우수한 결정계수와 재현성을 나타내었으며, 이는 분극 현상이 잘 제어되었기 때문이다. 실제 용액 샘플들을 이용한 삼투압 장비와 비교 측정 실험을 수행함으로써 IrOx 기반 센서의 안구건조증 진단 센서로의 활용가치를 증명하였다.

  • Thermal sensors, also called thermal infrared wavelength sensors, measure temperature based on the intensity of infrared signals that reach the sensor. The infrared signals recognized by the sensor include infrared wavelength(0.7~3.0㎛) and radiant infrared wavelength(3.0~100㎛). Infrared(IR) wavelengths are divided into five bands: near infrared(NIR), shortwave infrared(SWIR), midwave infrared(MWIR), longwave infrared(LWIR), and far infrared(FIR). Most thermal sensors use the LWIR to capture images. Thermal sensors measure the temperature of the target in a non-contact manner, and the data can be affected by the sensor's viewing angle between the target and the sensor, the amount of atmospheric water vapor (humidity), air temperature, and ground conditions. In this study, the characteristics of three thermal imaging sensor models that are widely used for observation using unmanned aerial vehicles were evaluated, and the optimal application field was determined.

누적된 거리정보를 이용하는 저가 IR 센서 기반의 위치추정 (Low-Cost IR Sensor-based Localization Using Accumulated Range Information)

  • Localization which estimates a robot's position and orientation in a given environment is very important for mobile robot navigation. Although low-cost sensors are preferred for practical service robots, they suffer from the inaccurate and insufficient range information. This paper proposes a novel approach to increasing the success rate of low-cost sensor-based localization. In this paper, both the previous and the current data obtained from the IR sensors are used for localization in order to utilize as much environment information as possible without increasing the number of sensors. The sensor model used in the monte carlo localization (MCL) is modified so that the accumulated range information may be used to increase the accuracy in estimating the current robot pose. The experimental results show that the proposed method can robustly estimate the robot's pose in indoor environments with several similar places.

  • Recently energy consumption has been increasing because of advances in the industry, and electrical fires have accounted for 31.9% of all fire accidents. An electrical fire is caused by a short circuit, power surge, or poor contact. Safety devices for short circuits or power surges are currently mandatory and can actually detect problems, but arcing caused by contact failure is difficult to detect in advance. This study used an IR sensor to detect the heat concentration caused by the arc. The data from the low-resolution sensor was amplified as much as four times by interpolation to find the exact location of the heat source and were then investigated.

  • The IR signature data of a ship is mainly affected by location, meteorological conditions(atmosphere temperature, wind direction and velocity, humidity etc.), atmospheric transmittance, solar position and ship surface temperature etc. The IR signatures received by a remote sensor at a given temperature and wavelength region is consisted of the self-emitted component directly from the object surface, the reflected component of the solar irradiation at the object surface, and the scattered component by the atmosphere without ever reaching the object surface. Computer simulations for prediction of the IR signatures of ships are very useful to examine the effects of various sensor positions. In this paper, we have acquired the IR signature for different sensor positions by using computer program for prediction of the IR signatures. The numerical results show that the IR signature contrast as compared to the background sea considering the meteorological conditions, solar and sky irradiations.

좁은 환경에서 초음파 및 적외선 센서를 융합한 강인한 지도작성 (Robust Map Building in Narrow Environments based on Combination of Sonar and IR Sensors)

  • It is very important for a mobile robot to recognize and model its environments for navigation. However, the grid map constructed by sonar sensors cannot accurately represent the environment, especially the narrow environment, due to the angular uncertainty of sonar data. Therefore, we propose a map building scheme which combines sonar sensors and IR sensors. The maps built by sonar sensors and IR sensors are combined with different weights which are determined by the degree of translational and rotational motion of a robot. To increase the effectiveness of sensor fusion, we also propose optimal sensor arrangement through various experiments. The experimental results show that the proposed method can represent the environment such as narrow corridor and open door more accurately than conventional sonar sensor-based map building methods.

  • In this paper, the silicon-nitride membrane structure for IR sensor was fabricated through the etching and the direct bonding. The PT layer as a IR detection layer was deposited on the membrane and its characteristics were measured. The attack of PT layer during the etching of silicon wafer as well as the thermal isolation of the IR detection layer can be solved through the method of bonding/etching of silicon wafer. Because the PT layer of c-axial orientation rained thermal polarization without polling, the more integration capability can be achieved. The surface roughness of the membrane was measured by AFM, the micro voids and the non-contacted area were inspected by IR detector, and the bonding interface was observed by SEM. The polarization characteristics and the dielectric characteristics of the PT layer were measured, too.
