User Authentication and Key Distribution on Open IPTV System (개방형 IPTV 환경에서의 사용자 인증 및 키 분배 메커니즘)

  • IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) is one of the typical businesses which are the convergence of Broadcast and Communication. It provides broadcasting service using IP networks. Recently, IPTV service is developed to Mobile IPTV or Open IPTV. Especially, Open IPTV uses open platform so not only service providers but also general users can provide contents to other users. Open IPTV system has many content providers, so existing security solution of IPTV cannot be adopted. In this paper, we suggest user authentication and key distribution mechanism on Open IPTV. Our proposed mechanism is based on Kerberos, so it can support distribution environment such as Open IPTV. We demonstrate that proposed mechanism can guarantee secure transmission of contents and reduce the delay of user authentication on Open IPTV system compared to other authentication mechanisms. We also compare our proposal and other mechanisms in various aspects, and analyze efficiency and safety of proposed mechanism. As a result, we insist that this mechanism satisfies the security requirements for IPTV.

  • IPTV, which is convergence of Communication and Broadcasting, has improved quickly recently. This service can provide high quality and various services to their customers, such as choosing channels freely, VOD and many kinds of Interactive service. As the technology of IPTV rapid development, more and more people worry about its disadvantages during the spread and apply, for instance, the illegal application, illegal copy, access authority abuse and the danger of the IPTV contents. This paper will provide the solution to solve these problems, through the Public Key Certificate of PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) and the Attribute Certificate of PMI(Privilege Management Infrastructure).

Effective IPTV Channel Control Algorithm Supporting Smooth Channel Zapping (원활한 채널 변경을 지원하는 효율적인 IPTV 채널 관리 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents an effective IPTV channel control algorithm considering network utilization and channel zapping time. The proposed algorithm keeps maximum average channel zapping time of each subscriber in the tolerable range with low network bandwidth usage by adjusting the type of each channel and the number of additional intra frames inserted into each channel. Finally, experimental results are provided to show the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is an efficient system which serves various contents to subscribing consumers by using the IP over a broadband connection. The IPTV services can be multi-channel broadcasting service, VoD, T-Commerce, video conference, on-line game and so on. TV Anytime metadata provides various description tools for TV program contents by which TV program contents can serve more information. In this paper, we mention about the overview and feature of IPTV and TV Anytime metadata, propose the essential functions in the EPG program of IPTV and survey the description tools for the proposed functions in EPG. Finally, we show the authored metadata and the implementation of advanced EPG application.

  • 최근 멀티미디어 콘텐츠가 빠르게 확산되고, 초고속 광대역 IP 네트워크 기술이 발전하면서 통신과 방송의 독자적 개별 서비스가 서로 공존하여 통합융합 서비스로 진화발전하고 있다. 대표적 방송/통신융합 서비스인 IPTV는 통합융합서비스의 가장 강력한 응용분야이며, IPTV와 같은 서비스들이 증가함으로 인해 다양한 인터넷 서비스를 구현하기 위해서 인터넷 프로토콜을 통한 고화질의 데이터 처리에 대한 관심이 통신업계의 화두로 등장하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소규모에서 사용되는 표준 라우팅 프로토콜인, RIP 환경과 대규모 자율 네트워크에서 사용되는 링크 상태 라우팅 프로토콜인, OSPF 환경을 구현하여 IPTV 서비스 중에서 방송 화질의 PSNR값으로 성능을 측정하고 평가하여 효율적인 IPTV 서비스를 위한 네트워크 구축 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The number of subscriber of digital pay TV service such as Digital Cable TV and IPTV is increasing from various kind of service provider world widely. These services require personal information of users to provide VOD(Video on Demand) and customized contents. Therefore, massive amount of personal information collected by service provider can cause social confusion such as leakage of privacy and property damage. This paper investigates whether broadcasting stations are providing enough notification for privacy policy and methodology of collecting private information in proper way. Furthermore, we analyze actual network traffic of IPTV service between user and service provider to suggest solution of privacy protection along with current status analysis.

  • Wire, wireless digital broadcasting has sharply expanded with the birth of high definition TV since 2010, the use of duplex contents as well as simplex contents has rapidly increased. Currently, our satellite communications system adopted DVB by European digital broadcasting standardization organization as a standard of domestic data broadcasting, the method how to use selective contents has been studied variously according to the development of IPTV. Digital broadcasting utilizes the method using Transport Stream Packet(TSP) by the way of multiplexing of information in order to send multimedia information such as video, audio and data of MPEG-2, this streams include detail information on TV guide and program as well as video and audio information. In order to understand these data broadcasting system, this study realized TS analyzer that divides transport stream (TS) by packet in Linux environment, analyzes and prints by function, it can help the understanding of TS, the enhancement of stream parsing ability.

  • 21세기를 맞이하여 서비스, 단말 및 매체의 "개인화," "이동화" 및 "융합화"의 경향이 급속도로 확산되고 있으며, 이러한 조류의 최전선에 통방융합이 자리하고 있다. 기술의 발전에 따라 사용자의 요구가 변화되고, 이러한 변화는 이종 기술 및 서비스의 융합을 시도하게 만들었다. 지금까지 수년에 걸쳐 통신과 방송분야에서 기술 및 서비스의 융합이 시도되어 왔으나 실제 사용자 측면에서의 가시적인 결실은 미미하였던 것이 사실이다. 이러한 현실은 IPTV(Internet Protocol TV)나 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)가 등장함에 따라 생활에 바로 적용이 가능한 현실적인 서비스가 되었다. 이와 같은 현실을 바탕으로 BcN(Broadband Convergence Network)에서의 IPTV 및 DMB 서비스에 대한 기술과 현황 및 전망을 살펴본다.
