In this paper, the new user mobility model which can be utilized to register user's location for interworking with heterogeneous overlay convergent networks under the time-varying radio propagation environment has been proposed. Thus the user mobility model is considered in order to evaluate the behaviors of users in the overlay convergent networks. This Mobile IP user mobility model will be very useful to model the user mobility behaviors and can be used to estimate the signaling traffic and frequency spectrum demands for massive data transfer for the heterogeneous overlay convergent networks.

The Mobile IP provides the mobility of Mobile Node, but does not provide the mobility of network. For support the mobility of network, the IETF has proposed NEMO(Network Mobility). Route Optimization is a serious problem in mobile network, so several solutions for route optimization in nested mobile network have been suggested by the IETF NEMO WG. This paper proposes scheme about Route Optimization in nested mobile network.

The third generation cellular system requires the seamless macro/micro mobility support. Mobile IP provides a simple and scalable macro mobility solution but lacks the support for fast handoff control in micro-domain. However, A lot of micro-mobility protocols have been proposed to complement the Mobile IP capability by providing the fast, seamless, and local handoff control. Cellular If also provides the seamless mobility support in limited geographical area. But semi-soft handoff mechanism of Cellular IP produces the packet loss and the duplication problem due to the difference of propagation delay between the new path and the old path. In this paper, we present an efficient handoff mechanism in micro-domain. The proposed handoff mechanism uses the SCD (Suitable Cross Delay) in order to minimize the packet loss and the duplication problem during the handoff. Also, the proposed mechanism is verified by the performance evaluation through the NS-2 Simulation.

There has been much research efforts trying to integrate mobile IP that has been proposed to guarantee the mobility of mobile nodes on MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks) and wired integrated networks. To support the mobility service of nodes in MIPMANET, this paper proposes MAAM(Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism) and AMAAM protocols. In MAAM, the mobility agent of the mobile IP can maintain the information of ad hoc networks by broadcasting advertisement messages periodically. AMAAM(Aggregation based Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism) is an enhancement of MAAM for reducing the number of transmission of advertisement messages by aggregating them. The proposed schemes are applied in MIPMANET for agent advertisement mechanism. For the performance evaluation of both protocols, we simulated them by NS2. We evaluate the protocols by ns2 with such performance metrics as packet delivery ratio, transmission throughput, and energy consumption.

The tactical network has several different characteristics compared with commercial internet network such as hierarchical topology, dynamic topology changing and wireless link based connectivity. For considering IP mobility management in the tactical network, current mobility management using Mobile IP(MIP) is not suitable with some reasons such as non-optimal routing paths and single point of failure. Proxy Mobile IP(PMIP) which supporting network-based mobility in hierarchical manner can provide optimal routing path in the tactical network environment, but centralized anchor is still remained a threat to the stability of the tactical network which changes its topology dynamically. In this paper, we propose PMIP-based distributed mobility management for the tactical network environment. From our design, routing paths are always configured in optimized way, as well as path is recovered quickly when the mobility anchor of user is failed. From numerical analysis, comparing to other mobility scheme, result shows that the proposed scheme can reduce packet transmission cost and latency in tactical network model.

To cope with the Internet host mobility in a cellular network environment, we propose an adaptive mobility management scheme that can compensate drawbacks of Mobile IP. We also propose protocol that supports the proposed scheme. Our proposed scheme determines foreign agent care-of addresses adaptively according to user mobility. Consequently, it is different from other proposals for micro mobility, which statically assign the gateway in the domain as a foreign agent. Using such a scheme, it is possible to effectively meet the users demands for different service qualities in the various environments considered in the cellular network and to reduce signaling overhead due to frequent handovers occurred in Mobile IP. The performance of the proposed scheme is examined by simulation. The results of simulation show that the proposed scheme can provide relatively stable points of attachment to the mobile node.

This paper proposes a user mobility management scheme which supports seamless service even if a user changes his accessing terminal in service in IP-based convergence network. Most of ongoing researches concerning mobility management as well as the existing mobility schemes have been focused to support terminal mobility. It is limited to support a variety of mobility types such as user mobility. The proposed scheme uses the mapping relationship between UID(User Identifier), user specific identifier and TID(Terminal Identifier), specific terminal identifier and forms packet address with user specific permanent 3 layer address for session continuity in case of user mobility. We numerically analyze and compare handover signaling cost between the existing user mobility scheme and the proposed scheme. The result shows that the proposed scheme has lower handover signaling cost than the existing one, [1].

The development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is progressed slowly due to limited resources, but it is in progress to the development of the latest IP-based IP-WSN by the development of hardware and power management technology. IPv6 over Low power WPAN (6LoWPAN) is capable of IPv6-built low-power devices. In these IP-based WSNs, existing IP-based techniques which was impossible in WSNs becomes possible. 6LoWPAN is based on the IEEE 802.15.4 sensor networks and is a IPv6-supported technology. Host-based mobility management scheme in IP-WSNs are not suitable due to the additional signaling, network-based mobility management scheme is more suitable. In this paper, we propose an enhanced PMIPv6-based route optimization scheme which consider multi-6LoWPAN network environments. All SLMA (Sensor Local Mobility Anchor) of the 6LoWPAN domain are connected with the SPIG (Sensor Proxy Internetworking Gateway) and performs distributed mobility control for the 6LoWPAN-based inter-domain operations. All information of SLMA in 6LoWPAN domain is maintained by SMAG (Sensor Mobile Access Gateway), and then is performed the route optimization quickly. The status information of the route optimization from SPIG is stored to SLMA and it is supported without additional signaling.
In order to provide a proper mobile internet service, Mobile IP is necessary to support IP mobility. Service network should be a backbone network among mobile agents which support mobility, and MPLS(Multi-protocol Label Switching) of IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) is being considered as a backbone network because of its speed, scalability and the excellent service capability. MPLS, however, doesn't provide a way to support the mobility of the nodes. In this paper, we present an efficient IMT-2000 network architecture using MPLS to handle Mobile IP. The proposed architecture combines the MPLS label distribution and Mobile IP registration. It doesn't use the layer 3 encapsulation, instead it uses layer 2 for tunneling the data, reduces the size of the header, and it can tunnel the data without delay, which is needed to look up the mobility binding list, as a result.
