  • Esophageal hiatal hernia is common disorder in western sociey, and mainly affects mid-aged women, There are two types of hiatal gernia; common and more benign type is sliding [type I], and more severe type is paraesophageal [type II], and Skinner subdivided type II as true II, IIA, III, and paraesophageal group, As Skinner`s nomination, this case could be belong to IIA, which imply the state that natural hiatus is occupied with gastric antrum or duodenum instead of normal esophago-gastric junction, Main problem of paraesophageal hernia comes from its complication; intestinal obstruction, volvulus, strangulation, and incarceration, as well as pulmonary aspiration. So, as soon as confirm diagnosis, it should be corrected surgically to prevent above complications, and sometimes it could result in serious condition. We have experienced paraesophageal hiatal hernia in 3-day newborn infant and have repaired it successfully. We used transabdominal approach to repair and to prevent reflux Nissen`s fundoplication was performed. We would report that with reference study.

  • The research trends and major technologies of the divert attitude control system(DACS), which is the core of the anti-missile system, are described. The operating concept and characteristics according to the fuel used are summarized. The characteristics of typical weapon system applying solid(SM3 Block IB/IIA) and liquid(THAAD) fuels were discussed. In the future, it will be necessary to study various types of DACS in the strategic concept of the defense weapon system.

  • We need to develop technology of identifying high temperature high pressure(HTHP) synthetic diamond and HTHP treated natural diamonds from untreated natural diamonds to cope with sophisticated diamond enhancing technology. We had successfully identified synthetic diamonds using a vibrating sample magnetometer due to their ferromagnetic property. In addition, we identified the HTHP enhanced TypeIa, TypeIIa diamonds by employing non-destructive Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy.

  • MYH9-related disorder is an autosomal dominant disease caused by a mutation in the MYH9 gene, which encodes nonmuscle myosin heavy chain IIA (NMMHC-IIA). This disease is characterized by giant platelets, thrombocytopenia, granulocyte inclusion bodies, proteinuria, and high-pitch sensorineural deafness. Nephropathy has been observed in 30% of patients with MYH9-related disorder. The characteristic features are early onset proteinuria and rapidly progressing renal disorder. However, the prognosis of MYH9 nephropathy remains unclear. Herein, we describe a 36-year-old woman who presented with proteinuria and was diagnosed with MYH9 nephropathy via renal biopsy and gene analysis. Her proteinuria improved after administration of an angiotensin II receptor blocker, but was aggravated after changing to a calcium channel blocker.

  • The process of transcription is the major point at which gene expression is regulated. The jun and fos families of eukaryotic transcription factor heterodimerize to form complexes capable of binding 5'-TGAGTCA-3'DNA elements (AP-1 binding site). To search for the inhibitors of the jun-fos-DNA complex formation, several natural products extracts were screened and methanol extract of tanshen (the dried roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge) showed remarkable inhibitory activity. The active compounds of the extracts were purified using re-peated column chromatography and recrystallization. Their structures were identified as tanshinone I and tanshinone IIA. Through the electrophoresis mobility shift assay and cell cytotoxicity test, tanshinone I and tanshinone IIA were identified as inhibitors that suppress not only AP-1 function but also the cell proliferation. Tanshinone I also suppressed the jun-fos-DNA complex formation in TPA-induced NIH 3T3 cells.

  • Generation mechanisms of pressure waves from the H-IIA launch vehicle are analyzed numerically. The Mach wave radiated downstream from wavy shearlayer of supersonic exhaust plume is revealed to be the dominant noise source. Reflecting from the constructions of the launch-pad, the Mach wave turns to propagate to the vehicles. It was also found that the fluctuating supersonic plume entering into the flame duct is the dominant noise source that appears in the flame duct. Then, the pressure wave propagates through the flame duct and is ejected outside to the vehicle.

  • In this paper, The path loss model of Air Traffic Control(ATC) telecommunication radio channel has been studied at the Incheon International Airport(IIA) Cargo Terminal. We measured one frequency among VHF channel bands. The transmitting site was located at different locations with different heights. The transmitting site radiated the Continuous Wave(CW). The propagation measurement was taken using the moving vehicle equipped with receiver and antenna. The transmitting power, frequency and antenna height are the same as the current operating condition. The path loss exponent and intercept parameters were extracted by the basic path loss model and hata model. The path loss exponent at IIA Cargo terminal area were 3.67 and 3.39 respectively in first and second transmitting sites. The deviation of prediction error is 14.42 and 10.38. The new path loss equation at the IIA Cargo terminal area was also developed using the derived path loss parameters. The new path loss was compared with other models. This result will be helpful for the ATC site selection and service quality evaluation.

  • Freight mode choice models are essential to the analysis of many areas of transport research. However, observations of actual market choices have only been made in a limited number of situations. Therefore, stated preference(SP) techniques have emerged as an alternative source of actual market choices to be used for estimating freight mode choice models. Considerable confidence exists about SP data, but little consideration has been given to the potential for estimation bias. This paper has been motivated by the theoretical side of estimating SP discrete choice models, focusing on a case study of freight mode choice. Recently developed simulation methods are used to construct inherent random heterogeneity legit models, which consider individual heterogeneity, its inheritance to the next choices and overcome the independence from irrelevant alternatives (IIA) property. This Paper contributes to the development of models dealing with heterogeneity and its inheritance, and sheds light on the heterogeneity of freight transport.
