The ion energy distributions (IEDs) arriving at a substrate strongly affect the etching rates in plasma etching processes. In order to determine the IEDs accurately, it is important to obtain the characteristics of radio frequency (rf) sheath at pulsed rf substrates. However, very few studies have been conducted to investigate pulsing effect on IEDs at multiple rf driven electrodes. Therefore, in this work, we extended previous one-dimensional dynamics model for pulsed-bias electrodes. We obtained the IEDs using the developed rf sheath model and observed that numerically solved IEDs are in a good agreement with the experimental results.
In this paper, autonomous information exchange methodology is studied between IEDS using SOAP protocol based on XML and PtP communication. Inference-based solution of the IED identifies the faulted zone autonomously from free information exchange among IEDs, transmits the operation information to the above SCADA system, also determines whether it executes or not for commands from the above SCADA. Finally, Inference-based solution is implemented using MS Visual C++ MFC, MS SOAP and MS XML. Availability and accuracy of the design is verified from simulation reviews for typical distribution substation.

This paper focuses on the reverse blocking busbar protection scheme with aim to improve the speed of its operation and at the same time to increase operational reliability, flexibility and stability of the protection during external and internal faults by implementation of the extended functionality provided by the IEC61850 standard-based protective Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs). The practical implementation of the scheme by the use of IEC 61850 standard communication protocol is investigated. The proposed scheme is designed for a radial type of a distribution network and is modeled and simulated in the DigSILENT software environment for various faults on the busbar and its outgoing feeders. A laboratory test bench is built using three ABB IEDs 670 series that are compliant with the IEC 61850 standard, CMC 356 Omicron test injection device, PC, MOXA switch, and a DC power supplier. Two types of the reverse blocking signals between the IEDs in the test bench are considered: hard wired and Ethernet communication by using IEC 61850 standard GOOSE messages. Comparative experimental study of the operational trip response speeds of the two implementations for various traffic conditions of the communication network shows that the performance of the protection scheme for the case of Ethernet IEC 61850 standard-based communication is better.

In this paper, autonomous information exchange methodology is studied between IEDs using SOAP protocol based on XML and PtP communication to archive the safety and reliability of large-scale system operation. The SOAP protocol has the advantages in the independency Problem for operating systems, using language, platforms and the security problem because it is XML-based RPC protocol. Inference-based solution of the IED is designed as rule-based solution so that the IED internal status, the system status or the faulted zone can be inferred autonomously using the internal data as well as information data obtained from free information exchange among other IEDS, Also, it is designed so that the inference results and the operation information are transmitted to the above SCADA system, and determined autonomously whether the commands from the SCADA are executed or not. Finally, The inference-based solution of IED and information exchange system among IEDS is implemented using MS Visual C++ MFC, MS SOAP and MS XML. Availability and accuracy of the proposed methodology and the design is verified from diversity simulation reviews for typical distribution substation.

In this paper, a development of agent-based IEDs(Intelligent electronic devices) for integration control of building microgrid in smart green building are proposed. To manage and control this complex energy system of smart green buildings, multi-agent system based networks is needed. Thus, several IEDs for utilizing multi-agent system are developed and modified for the their verification of performance as agent modules functions in the integrated experimental equipment. The good performance of these IED agents are verified from experimental results obtained from seamless bi-directional communication by SOAP/XML protocol between PC agent and IED agent.
Nowadays, Intelligent Electronic Devices(IED) are widely used in power system. In order to improve the selectivity, sensitivity, and reliability of the power system composed by IEDs, A new fault tolerant IED system based on agent technique is presented in this paper. in the presented system, different with existing IED systems, the redundancies are drawn out from IED devices, and compose a standby backup system. And those redundancies are not specified to a particular type of IEDs. By using the agent technique, redundancies can download agents to modify their functions to fit different types of IEDs. As a conclusion, the reliability of the presented system is estimated in this paper.
Background: The intermittent delta activity in electroencephalographies (EEGs) of patients with focal brain lesions has been reported to be a marker of an epileptogenic focus. This study investigated the concordance between the current source distribution (CSD) of the interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) and that of the background delta frequency bands (DFBs) of the scalp EEG. Methods: We collected scalp EEGs of 13 patients with focal epilepsy that contained uniregional IEDs and unilateral delta to theta slow waves. We applied a distributed source model using LORETA$^{(R)}$ to determine the CSD of the peak points of the IEDs and the DFBs of the background activity. Results: The CSDs of the DFBs were ipsilateral to the CSDs of the peak point of the averaged IEDs in ten patients, and bilateral with ipsilateral predominance in three patients. In the cases with an ipsilateral CSD of the DFB, 8 of 10 patients had concordance of the CSD localization between the averaged IED and the DFB. In the cases with bilateral CSD of the DFB, 2 of 3 patients had concordance of the CSD localization between the averaged IED and the DFB. Conclusions: The CSD localization and lateralization appear to be concordant between the IEDs and the DFB of background activity in epileptic patients. Therefore, the CSD of the DFB in EEGs with visually observable slow activities may predict those of IEDs.
The digital substations are being built based on the IEC 61850 network. The cooperation and protection of power system are becoming more intelligent and reliable in the environment of digital substation. This paper proposes a novel method to prevent the malfunction caused by the Transformer Magnetizing Inrush Current(TMIC) using the IEC 61850 based data sharing between the IEDs. To protect a main transformer, the current differential protection(87T) and over-current protection(50/51) are used generally. The 87T IED applies to the second harmonic blocking method to prevent the malfunction caused by the TMIC. However, the 50/51 IED may malfunction caused by the TMIC. To solve that problem, the proposed method uses a GOOSE inter-lock signal between two IEDs. The 87T IED transmits a blocking GOOSE signal to the 50/51 IED, when the TMIC is detected. The proposed method can make a cooperation of digital substation protection system more intelligent. To verify the performance of proposed method, this paper performs the real time test using the RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulator) test-bed. Using the RTDS, the power system transients are simulated, and the TMIC is generated. The performance of proposed method is verified in real-time using that actual current signals. The reaction of simulated power system responding to the operation of IEDs can be also confirmed.

In this paper, autonomous separation methodology of faulted section based on network is proposed newly, which can minimize the outage effect as compared with the existing center-based faulted section separation method by determining and separating autonomously the faulted section by the free operation information exchange among IEDs on the feeder of distribution system. The all IEDs is designed in network in which client/server function is possible in order to separate autonomously the faulted section using PtP(Peer to Peer) communication. Also, Inference based solution of IED for the autonomous faulted section separation is designed by rules obtained from the analyzing results of distribution system topology. Here, the switch IEDs transmit on network the fault information utilizing on multi-casting communication method, at the fame time, determine selfly whether they operates or not by inferencing autonomously the faulted section using the inference-based solution after receiving the transmitted information. Finally, in order to verify the effectiveness and application possibility of the proposed methodology, the diversity fault cases are simulated for the typical distribution system.

IEC 61850 based substation automation system is operating under digital network with a number of IEDs and a HMI as relation of server and client. In case of IEDs, before implementing the system, all of the system integrators require IEC 61850 certificate from individual IED manufacture. Otherwise, there is nothing to verify IED for constructing substation automation system at the real substation. This paper shows verification strategy of IEC 61850 communication reliability such as association /release, report, dataset and four type control function.
