The multi-tenancy and high scalability of the cloud have inspired businesses and organizations across various sectors to adopt and deploy cloud computing. Cloud computing provides cost-effective, reliable, and convenient access to pooled resources, including storage, servers, and networking. Cloud service models, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS, enable organizations, developers, and end users to access resources, develop and deploy applications, and provide access to pooled computing infrastructure. Despite the benefits, cloud service models are vulnerable to multiple security and privacy attacks and threats. The SaaS layer is on top of the PaaS, and the IaaS is the bottom layer of the model. The software is hosted by a platform offered as a service through an infrastructure provided by a cloud computing provider. The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) delivers cloud-based apps through a web browser. The stateless nature of HTTP facilitates session hijacking and related attacks. The Open Web Applications Security Project identifies web apps' most critical security risks as SQL injections, cross-site scripting, sensitive data leakage, lack of functional access control, and broken authentication. The systematic literature review reveals that data security, application-level security, and authentication are the primary security threats in the SaaS model. The recommended solutions to enhance security in SaaS include Elliptic-curve cryptography and Identity-based encryption. Integration and security challenges in PaaS and IaaS can be effectively addressed using well-defined APIs, implementing Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and standard syntax for cloud provisioning.
As one of the fundamental studies for the breeding of marine algae, this paper deals wit_the effects of plant hormone on the growth of microscopic filamentous gametophyte of Undaria pinnatifida. The results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) All zoospores were settled on slide glass, germinated and developed into gametophytes, without the growth of germination tubes when treated with 0.1 mg/l of 2.4-D, or 0.1, 1.0, or 5.0 mg/1 of Keinetin. (2) The best growth effect in total average was observed at 0.1 mg/1 of Keinetin, when the growth-rate was $248.9\%$ in contrast with control, and was followed by 1.0 mg/1 of IAA ($243.3\%$), and 0.05 mg/1 of 2.4-D ($205.6\%$). (3) It was certain that the growth-effect by each plant hormone had some differences between male and female gametophytes. IAA was very effective in the growth of male gameto-phytes but Keinetin in that of females. Especially in females, the efficiency of Keinetin was recorded best at $239.0\%$ at 5.0 mg/l and $222.0\%$ at 0.1 mg/1. On the other hand, it was $195.1\%$ in its best at 0.5 mg/1 of IAA, and $146.6\%$ was recorded best in 2.4-D at 0.05 mg/1.
Changes of peroxidase activity, polyamine content and ethylene production during somatic embryogenesis in suspension-cultured carrot (Daucus carota L.) cells were investigated. As compared with nonembyrogenic cells and their medium, embryogenic cells and their medium were characterized by higher levels of peroxidase at all times of culture period. Peroxidase in embryogenic cells showed higher oxidation activity of IAA than in nonembryogenic cells at the torpedo stage, but the IAA oxidation activity of peroxidase released into embryogenic medium was lower than that of peroxidase released into nonembryogenic medium. Peroxidase patterns of embryogenic and nonembryogenic cells showed three cathodic bands, and one anodic band, while peroxidase patterns released into embryogenic and nonembryogenic media did not show any anodic bands and the isoelectric points of cathodic peroxidase were pH 7.7, 7.5 and 6.6. Compared with nonembryogenic cells, polyamine content in embryogenic cells was increased by 15% at the torpedo stage, but polyamine ratio was constant, and ethylene production was extremely low at all times of culture period. Therefore, it is suggested that the peroxidase in embryogenic cells is correlated with embryogenesis by regulating hormone ratios through IAA oxidation, while the peroxidase isozyme patterns may be used as a biochemical marker of embryogenesis. The increase of polyamine content and the decrease of ethylene production suggest an interaction between polyamine and ethlyene during embryogenesis.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds provide infrastructure as a pool of virtual resources, and the public IaaS clouds, e.g. Amazon Web Service (AWS) and private IaaS cloud toolkits, e.g. OpenStack, CloudStack, etc. provide their own application programming interfaces (APIs) for managing the cloud resources they offer. The heterogeneity of the APIs, however, makes it difficult to access and use the multiple cloud services concurrently and collectively. In this paper, we explore previous efforts to solve this problem and present our own implementation of an integrated cloud API, which can make it possible to access and use multiple clouds collectively in a uniform way. The implemented API provides a RESTful access and hides underlying cloud infrastructures from users or applications. We show the implementation details of the integrated API and performance evaluation of it comparing the proprietary APIs based on our cloud testbed. From the evaluation results, we could conclude that the overhead imposed by our interface is negligibly small and can be successfully used for multi-cloud access.

Biosynthesis of indole-3-acetate (IAA) from L-tryptophan via indole-3-pyruvate pathway requires three enzymes including aminotransferase, indole-3-pyruvate decarboxylase, and indole-3-acetate dehydrogenase. To establish a bio-based production of IAA, the aspC, ipdC, and iad1 from Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, and Ustilago maydis, respectively, were expressed under control of the tac, ilvC, and sod promoters in C. glutamicum. Cells harboring ipdC produced tryptophol, indicating that the ipdC product is functional in this host. Analyses of SDS-PAGE and enzyme activity revealed that genes encoding AspC and Iad1 were efficiently expressed from the sod promoter, and their enzyme activities were 5.8 and 168.5 nmol/min/mg-protein, respectively. The final resulting strain expressing aspC, ipdC, and iad1 produced 2.3 g/l and 7.3 g/l of IAA from 10 g/l L-tryptophan, respectively, in flask cultures and a 5-L bioreactor.
This study was carried out to establish in vitro propagation system influenced by plant growth regulators through organogenesis with three different seed sources (China, Mongolia and Russia) for conservation of genetic resources in Northeast Asia. The experiment compared two different carbon sources (commercial sugar, sucrose), which showed no significant differences in germination rate. Induced adventitious buds from leaf segments were found to be highly effective when supplemented with 1.0 mg/L BA, 1.0 mg/L Kinetin, and 5.0 mg/L IAA, in the case of Chinese origin 96.8%, Russian origin R-1: 95.6%, R-2: 85.6%, and Mongolian origin M-2: 77.8%. It was effective in BA and Kinetin with supplemented with IAA, respectively. Shooting development was also efficient in Woody Plant Media (WPM) supplemented with 1.0 mg/L BA, 1.0 mg/L Kinetin and 5.0 mg/L IAA.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza) has been used as preventive and therapeutic material for hyperpigmentation disorders. Previously, we isolated noble compounds including dehydroglyasperin C (DGC), dehydroglyasperin D (DGD) and isoangustone A (IAA) from licorice hexane/ethanol extracts. However, their anti-melanogenic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms are unknown. The present study compared effects of DGC, DGD and IAA on pigmentation in melan-a melanocytes and human epidermal melanocytes (HEMn). DGD exerted the most excellent anti-melanogenic effect, followed by DGC and IAA at non-cytotoxic concentrations. In addition, DGD significantly inhibited tyrosinase activity in vitro cell-free system and cell system. Western blot result showed that DGD decreased expression of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), tyrosinase and tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TRP-1) in melan-a cells and HEMn cells. DGD induced phosphorylation of MITF, ERK and Akt signal pathway promoting MITF degradation system. However, DGD did not influence p38 and cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA)/CREB signal pathway in melan-a cells. These result indicated that DGD inhibited melanogenesis not only direct regulation of tyrosinase but also modulating intracellular signaling related with MITF level. Collectively, these results suggested a protective role for DGD against melanogenesis.
Multiple shoots obtained in MS medium suppler with 5.0 mg/L BA though shoot-tip culture. The frequency of vitrified shoot was lower on Bacto-agar medium than on Gelrite as gelling agent. Addition of activated charcoal at concentrations of 0.1~0.3% reduced vitrification and markedly increased shoot growth, and formation and growth of roots, but significantly reduced the number of shoots formed. The ratio of fresh weight to dry weight was decreased by increasing light intensity and agar concentration. Eight-tenths times of macroelement of MS medium was observed to be effective for shoot formation. Addition of IAA effectively promoted shoot formation in both shoot tip and node-bud explants. Supplement of 5.0 mg/L BA, 0.3 mg/L IAA to MS medium was most effective in shoot proliferation on shoot tip and node-bud explants.Multiple shoots obtained in MS medium suppler with 5.0 mg/L BA though shoot-tip culture. This experiment compared the regeneration conditions of the radiation mutant spray chrysanthemum 'purple ND'. The four different flower blooming stages (S1: 10% opened flower, S2: 30% opened flower, S3: 50% opened flower, and S4: 70% opened flower) and different petal parts (TBOP: the basal of petal and TEOP: the end of petal) were used to compare regeneration conditions between plants grown in MS medium supplemented with IAA and BAP. The highest adventitious shooting rate was identified in plants grown on the IAA $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and BAP $2.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ when using the end of petal at the S2 stage. It displayed 79.2% regeneration and produced 33.4 shoots. Rooted plantlets were successfully established in the greenhouse, showing the same morphological characteristics of vegetative and reproductive organs with those of the mother plant. Flow cytometry analysis revealed no ploidy variation between the regenerated plants and the mother plant grown under greenhouse conditions.
