An Experimental Study on the Behavior of Precast Concrete Shear Keys (프리캐스트 콘크리트 전단키의 역학적 거동에 관한 실험연구)

  • In the precast segmental method of construction, segments of a structure are precast, assembled, and tied together by post-tensioning to form the structure. Shear strength and behavior of points in precast concrete structures are important problems in the design of these structures. An experimental program was set up study the shear behavior of precast concrete shear keys. experimental models of keyed joints include a single key, representing one of a series include the shear key shape, d/h ratio(1/4, 1/5, 1/7), and inclined angle (45。 60。 75。). Two different types of joints, i.e., epoxied joint and dry joints were studied. From the present tests, it is found that epoxied joints have higher shear strength than those of dry joints, and that high d/h ratio keys have higher shear strength than those of low d/h ratio keys. The keys with 60。-inclined angle shows the highest shear strength among various angles.

Study on the fabrication and the growth mechanism of Bi-2223 superconducting phase by diffusion method (확산법에 의한 Bi-2223 초전도상의 제조 및 성장기구에 관한 연구)

  • According to spread volume of B(BiPbCuO) layer, composition ratio and each stage of sintering process, we studied stability of high Tc superconductor phase and generation and growth movement of superconducting phase. The dual layer composed of SrCaCuO and BiPbCuO compound were prepared to develop the Bi-2223 superconductor[108K] through interaction and diffusion during sintering process. The dual layer samples were sintered at 830.deg. C for 0-210 hours. From the result, the optimum conditions were : spread volume(A:B=1:0.6), sintering time(210h) and composition ratio(A:S $r_{2}$C $a_{2}$C $u_{2}$- $O_{x}$, B:B $i_{1.9}$P $b_{0.5}$C $u_{3}$ $O_{y}$) at 830.deg. C.. C.C.C.

Mechanical characteristics of hollow shear connectors under direct shear force

  • The steel-concrete composite decks have high fatigue durability and deformability in comparison with ordinary RC slabs. Withal, the steel-concrete composite deck is mostly heavier than the RC slabs. We have proposed herein a new type of steel-concrete composite deck which is lighter than the typical steel-concrete composite decks. This can be achieved by arranging hollow sectional members as shear connectors, namely, half-pipe or channel shear connectors. The present study aims to experimentally investigate mechanical characteristics of the half-pipe shear connectors under the direct shear force. The shear bond capacity and deformability of the half-pipe shear connectors are strongly affected by the thickness-to-diameter ratio. Additionally, the shear strengths of the hollow shear connectors (i.e. the half-pipe and the channel shear connectors) are compared. Furthermore, shear capacities of the hollow shear connectors equivalent to headed stud connectors are also discussed.

The Study on Bunsen Reaction Process for Iodine-Sulfur Thermochemical Hydrogen Production (요오드-황 열화학 수소 제조를 위한 분젠 반응 공정 연구)

  • For highly efficient operation of a Bunsen process section in an iodine-sulfur thermochemical hydrogen production cycle using nuclear heat, the process characteristics of $H_2SO_4-HI-H_2-O-I_2$ mixture system for separating into two liquid phases ($H_2SO_4$-rich phase and $HI_x$-rich phase) and the distribution of $H_2O$ to each phase were investigated.The experiments for process variables were carried out in the temperature range, from 298 to 353 K, and in the $H_2SO_4/HI/H_2O/I_2$ molar ratio of 1/2/14~20/0.5~8.0. As the results, for the $SO_2-I_2-H_2O$ Bunsen reaction system, the ranges between the starting point and the saturation point for two liquid phases separation were determined by calculation. The best result for the minimization of impurities (HI and $I_2$ in $H_2SO_4$ phase and $H_2SO_4$ in $HI_x$ phase) in each phase was obtained in an optimum condition with the highest temperature of 353 K and the highest $I_2$ molar composition. In this condition, the $HI/H_2SO_4$ molar ratio in the $H_2SO_4$-rich phase and the $H_2SO_4/HI_x$ molar ratio in the $HI_x$-rich phase were 0.024 and 0.028, respectively. For the distribution of $H_2O$ to each phase, it is appeared that the affinity between $HI_x$ and $H_2O$ was more superior to that between $H_2SO_4$ and $H_2O$. The affinity between $HI_x$ and $H_2O$ was decreased with increasing temperature but increased with increasing $I_2$ molar composition.

Static strength of collar-plate reinforced tubular T-joints under axial loading

  • To study the effect of collar-plate reinforcement on the static strength of tubular T-joints under axial loading, fundamental research work is carried out from both experimental test and finite element (FE) simulation. Through experimental tests on 7 collar-plate reinforced and 7 corresponding un-reinforced tubular T-joints under axial loading, the reinforcing efficiency is investigated. Thereafter, the static strengths of the above 14 models are analyzed by using FE method, and it is found that the numerical results agree reasonably well with the experimental data to prove the accuracy of the presented FE model. Additionally, a parametric study is conducted to analyze the effect of some geometrical parameters, i.e., the brace-to-chord diameter ratio ${\beta}$, the chord diameter-to-chord wall thickness ratio $2{\gamma}$, collar-plate thickness to chord wall thickness ratio ${\tau}_c$, and collar-plate length to brace diameter ratio $l_c/d_1$, on the static strength of a tubular T-joint. The parametric study shows that the static strength can be greatly improved by increasing the collar-plate thickness to chord wall thickness ratio ${\tau}_c$ and the collar-plate length to brace diameter ratio $l_c/d_1$. Based on the numerical results, parametric equations are obtained from curving fitting technique to estimate the static strength of a tubular T-joint with collar-plate reinforcement under axial loading, and the accuracy of these equations is also evaluated from error analysis.

Confinement model for RC columns strengthened with direct-fastened steel plates

  • Reinforced concrete (RC) columns can be strengthened by direct fastening of steel plates around a column, forming composite actions. This method can increase both the total load bearing area and the concrete confinement stress. To predict the axial load resistance of strengthened RC columns, the equivalent passive confinement stress of the stirrups and the steel jacket should be accurately quantified, which requires the stress in the stirrups and shear force in the connections to be first obtained. In this paper, parameters, i.e., the stress ratio of the stirrups and shear force ratio of steel plate connectors are utilized to quantify the stress of the stirrups and shear force in the connections. A mechanical model for determining the stress ratio of the stirrups and shear force ratio of steel plate connectors is proposed and validated using the experimental results in a previous study. The model is found to be robust. Subsequently, a parametric study is conducted and the optimum stress ratios of the stirrups and the optimum shear force ratios of connectors are proposed for engineering designs.

The Effects of Hwalhyulmaksung-bang (Huoxiemoxing-fang) on Membranous Nephropathy Induced by Cationic Bovine Serum Albumin in Mouse Model (활혈막성방(活血膜性方)이 Cationized Bovine Serum Albumin투여로 유발된 Mouse의 Membranous Nephropathy에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: The purpose of our study was to show the effects of Hwalhyulmaksung-bang (Huoxiemoxing-fang, HHMSB) treatment on cBSA-induced in MN Mouse Model. Methods: We divided the 20 mice into 4 groups. One group, named NR, was not treated. The second group, named CT, was treated with cBSA (7mg/kg i.p) only. The third group, named HH-250, was treated with cBSA (7mg/kg i.p) and HHMSB extract (250mg/kg, p.o). The fourth group, named HH-500, was treated with cBSA (7mg/kg i.p) and HHMSB extract (500mg/kg, p.o). 4 weeks after cBSA, proteinuria, serum albumin, total cholesterol, serum creatinine, BUN, total cell number of spleen and kidney of all groups were measured. CD3e+/CD19+ and CD4+/CD8 cells ratio of peripheral blood, kidney and spleen of all groups were analyzed. $IL-1{\beta}$ and TNF-$\alpha$, IL-6, IgG, IgM, and IFN-$\gamma$ levels of all groups were gauged. Histological analysis of kidney tissue and immunohistochemical staining (CD4, CD8) of kidney were observed. Results: The level of proteinuria significantly decreased and serum albumin increased in the group treated with cBSA and HHMSB extract compared with the control. Total cholesterol decreased but not significantly. CD3e+/CD19cells ratio of peripheral blood is decreased, but CD4+/CD8cells ratio has no significancy. CD3e+/CD19+ and CD4+/CD8 cells percentage of kidney and spleen has no significancy. Level of $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6 is significantly decreased, and IFN-$\gamma$ is significantly increased on HHMSB compared with control. Total IgG level significantly decreased on HHMSB compared with the control. Thickness of GBM decreased on histological analysis of kidney. Deposition of CD4 and CD8 decreased on immunohistochemical staining of kidney. Conclusions: We conclude that Hwalhyulmaksung-bang treatment may could be a useful remedy agents for treating Membranous Neuropathy(MN) induced by cationized bovine serum albumin.

The Bond Characteristics of Deformed Bars in Recycled Coarse Aggregates Concrete (RCAC) (순환골재 콘크리트와 이형철근의 부착 특성)

  • One of the most important requirements for reinforced concrete constructions is the bond behavior between concrete and reinforcement. For practical application, it is very important to study bond behavior of reinforcing bars in recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). Thirty six pull-out tests were carried out in order to investigate the bond behaviour between recycled coarse aggregate concrete (RCAC) and deformed bars. RCA replacement ratios (i.e., 0%, 30%, 60% and 100%) and positions of deformed bar (i.e., vertical and horizontal position) were considered as variables in this paper. Each specimen was in the form of a cube, with edges of 150 mm in length and for the pull-out tests, a deformed bar, 13 mm in diameter, was embedded in the center of each specimen. Based on the test results, the bond strength between the RCAC and deformed bars were influenced by both RCA replacement ratios and positions of deformed bars. It was found that under the equivalent mix proportion (i.e., the mix proportions are the same, except for different RCA replacement ratios), the bond strength between the RCAC and the ribbed bar has no obvious relation with the RCA replacement ratio, whereas the positions of deformed bars have a significant effect on the bond behavior between the RCAC and deformed bars. Under the condition of same RCA replacement ratio, the specimen of horizontal reinforcement at upper position (HU type) appear considerably low bond stress.

  • Eddy Current Examination is expected as the effective technique for nondestructive inspection of steam generator and various kinds of heat exchanging tubes made of STS - 304. In Case of E. C. T, a study on the various factors which have an effect on coil impedance is very important to the sensitivity of defect detection and the ratio of signal to noise. Therefore, this study analyzed coil impedance by means of the variational principle, the minimized theory of energy functional and the application of Finite Element Method. Really by using E. C. T, the relationship between the size of defects and the intensity of Eddy Current Signals can be obtained. Signal intensity becomes maximum at certain frequency. This frequency is affected by the characteristics and the position of signal sources.

  • In $SiH_4$ + Ar mixture gas contains 0.5% and 5% monosilane, this paper calculated electron swarm parameters in E/N has ratio 1$\sim$300(Td) and P : I (Torr) by MCS and Beq method. Electron swarm parameters showed a irregularity change in Ar mixed a little monosilane. It tends that the electron drift velocity is inversely proportional to E/N. It also represented characteristics that the transverse diffusion coefficient depends on E/N.
