Iterative Decoding Performance for Gray Coded QAM Signals with I/Q Phase Unbalance (I/Q 위상 불균형을 동반한 Gray 부호화된 QAM 신호의 반복 복호 성능)

  • In this paper, we propose a practical implementation method of a soft bit decision expression for an R-QAM (Gray coded Rectangular Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) signal based on the Max-Log-MAP algorithm. The parameters of the soft decision expression for the practical implementation can be obtained with simple arithmetic functions associated with some deterministic parameters such as a received value, distances between symbols, and the order of modulation on a signal space. Also, we analyze the performance of an iterative decoding scheme for the QAM signal with I/Q phase unbalance. The unbalance results from the non-ideal characteristic of components such as a phase shifter between in-phase and quadrature paths for quadrature modulator/demondulator.

Photonic Generation of Frequency-tripling Vector Signal Based on Balanced Detection without Precoding or Optical Filter

  • A novel approach for frequency-tripling vector signal generation via balanced detection without precoding and optical filter is proposed. The scheme is mainly utilizing an integrated dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying (DPQPSK) modulator. In the DPQPSK modulator, one QPSK modulator is driven by an RF signal to generate high-order optical sidebands, while the other QPSK modulator is modulated by I/Q data streams to produce baseband vector signal as an optical carrier. After that, a frequency-tripling 16-quadrature-amplitude-modulation (16QAM) vector millimeter-wave (mm-wave) signal can be obtained by balanced detection. The proposed scheme can reduce the complexity of transmitter digital signal processing. The results show that, a 4 Gbaud baseband 16QAM vector signal can be generated at 30 GHz by frequency-tripling. After 10 km single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission, the constellation and eye diagrams of the generated vector signal perform well and a bit-error-rate (BER) below than 1e-3 can be achieved.

  • In this paper, a photonic-based microwave system technology is described, and a traveling-wave electro-optic modulator is designed and manufactured as a key component. The fabricated modulator is composed of a metal diffusion waveguide for optical transmission and a planar waveguide electrode on lithium niobate substrate for microwave transmission. The electro-optic response bandwidth of I and Q channels in a fabricated dual parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator were measured for 27.67 and 28.11 GHz, respectively. Photonic four times up-converted X-band frequency and linear frequency modulated signal were confirmed using the fabricated electro-optic modulator by S-band input signal. The confirmed broadband signal can be applied to a microwave system for surveillance and high-resolution ISAR imaging.

  • 본 논문은 다양한 GPS 재밍대응 기술 중에서 안테나 기반의 CRPA(Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna) 시스템에 관한 소개 및 안테나의 널(null) 패턴 합성에 필요한 핵심 모듈인 디지털 I/Q 벡터모듈레이터(Vector Modulator)를 이용한 GPS용 $2{\times}2$ CRPA 패턴 제어방법에 관한 연구 내용이다. 일반적으로 시스템에서 미리 결정된 방향으로 만들어진 안테나 빔을 이용한 위상배열안테나(phased array antenna)와는 달리 CRPA 구조의 GPS 위성수신용 적응배열안테나(adaptive array antenna)는 각 안테나 소자(element)로부터 수신된 신호들을 실시간으로 해석하여, GPS 배열 안테나의 패턴 특성을 제어한다. 본 연구에서는 $2{\times}2$ 배열 정사각(square) 구조의 CRPA를 채택했으며, 재밍신호 방향으로 널(null) 패턴을 합성하기 위한 방법으로 PC에서 제어 가능한 DAC(Digital to Analog Converter)을 이용하여 I/Q 벡터모듈레이터로 인가되는 RF신호의 위상(phase) 및 진폭(amplitude)을 조절한다. 이때 원하는 널(null) 패턴이 합성되도록 네 개의 각 안테나 소자 쪽으로 8채널의 복소가중치(complex weight)를 인가한다.

  • In thesis we applied the short or open reflection type for IQ vector modulator The open or short type is operated even exception of other redundancy circuit. Generally IQ vector modulator uses MESFET in performing reflection open or short, then minus voltage which is having complex structure is required to operate MESFET via IQ signal. However BJT can be substituted for MESFET, BJT is improved characteristics like as cutoff frequency, electron mobility and so on. We used BJT in IQ vector modulator which is compatible with TTL level in I,Q digital signal, and attached AGC function. We got the result of operations within ${\pm}$ 1$^{\circ}$ phase and ${\pm}$ 0.6 dB amplitude Variation With full range of 20 dB and Variation of ${\pm}$ 6$^{\circ}$ Phase and ${\pm}$ 0.5 dB amplitude Versus full temperature range.

  • A simple six-port direct conversion QPSK receiver which is made up of a six-port phase correlator, a signal power detector, and I/Q channel signal de-modulator is designed and implemented in this paper. The output phase signals of six-port phase correlator are also analysed. On the basis of $90^{\circ}C$ phase relation among the six-port phase correlator output signals, the QPSK de-modulation circuit is designed by a simple circuit. The six-port phase correlator is made up of $90^{\circ}$ hybrid branch line and power detector. The six-port phase correlator, which is designed in frequency range of 11.7 to 12.0 GHz, gets the phase error characteristics less than $5^{\circ}$. By considering matching network and amplitude balance in the designed fiequency range, the designed six-port direct conversion QPSK receiver demodulates the I and Q signals with performance less than $5^{\circ}$ phase error.

Anti-inflammatory Effect of Quercus Salicina in IFN-${\gamma}$/LPS-stimulated Mouse Peritoneal Macrophage

  • Quercus salicina has been widely used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of various diseases. In macrophages, nitric oxide (NO) is released as an inflammatory mediator and has been proposed to be an important modulator of many pathophysiological conditions in inflammation. In the present study, the inhibitory effect of methanolic extracts of Q. salicina (QSM) on NO production in LPS-stimulated mouse (C57BL/6) peritoneal macrophages was investigated. QSM suppressed NO production without notable cytotoxiciy. QSM also exhibited down-regulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression via attenuation of NF-${\kappa}B$ translocation to nucleus in rIFN-${\gamma}$ and LPS stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages. The present study strongly suggest that Q. salicina may be beneficial in diseases which related to macrophage-mediated inflammatory disorders.

Analysis on Spectral Regrowth of Bandwidth Expansion Module by Quadrature Modulation Error in Digital Chirp Generator (디지털 첩 발생기에서의 직교 변조 오차에 의한 대역 확장 모듈에서의 스펙트럴 재성장 분석)

  • This paper presents an effective method to achieve the wideband waveform for high resolution SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) using the frequency multiplication technique. And also this paper analyzes the root causes for the spectral regrowth due to 3rd-order intermodulation in chirp bandwidth expansion scheme using quadrature modulator and frequency multipliers. The amplitude and phase imbalance requirement are defined based on the simulation results in terms of quadrature channel imbalance. This minimizes the degradation of range resolution, peak sidelobe ratio and integrated sidelobe ratio. The wideband chirp generator using the frequency multiplier and memory map scheme was manufactured and the compensation technique was presented to reduce the spectral regrowth of SAR waveform by minimizing the amplitude and phase imbalance. After I and Q channel imbalance adjustment, the carrier level reduces -28.7 dBm to -53.4 dBm. Chirp signal with 150 MHz bandwidth at S-band expands to 600 MHz bandwidth at X-band. The sidelobe levels are reduced by about 8 to 9 dB by compensating the amplitude balance between I and Q channels.

  • In this paper, we have studied the 8 YSB (8 Vestigial Side Band) method which is decided as the standard of modulators for next generation digital TV System. In developing digital TV System, one of the difficult problems is how digital signal can be transmitted to the receiver without any phase distortion. But, phase error is liable to occur by imperfect design, circumstance variation and device degradation. These characteristics result in distortion of 1,0 signal of modulator and interference in adjacent channels. In particular, the interference in modulator of a high power amplifier result in serious problems in adjacent channels. Here we analyzed problems of phase error which are occurred when 8 levels digital signals are modulated to If signal. And we suggested phase error compensation algorithm and discussed the results for adaptation of the algorithm

  • In this paper, we describe the designed digital waveform of a linear frequency-modulated (FM) chirp signal using field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for image radar, and this signal is modulated with an I-Q modulator, and multiplied by 24 frequency multipliers to obtain a 94-GHz W-band wideband chirp generator. The developed chirp generator is an FM signal with a 94-GHz carrier frequency and a 960-MHz bandwidth, and the flatness is less than 1.0 dB at intermediate frequency (IF) (3.9 GHz), 2.0 dB in the W-band, and it has a 0.3-W output power in the W-band.
