  • We worried about the technology difference between our company and the advanced companies at present motor market. Thus we started independently to develop the technology of motor coil insulation system and to accumulate insulation technology data. When we export the electric machines to oversee market. we are asked to set up the insulation system to show our product excellence. We first evaluate the insulation system of our motors to realize higher reliability of high voltage insulation system. Therefore we are possible to do the insulation diagnosis in real site and have accumulated the data related in insulation diagnosis. Thus we have improved the our insulation system. And also these data were used to new product development as very useful data. also will be used the insulation deterioration diagnosis to estimate the remained life time which is very important data for the maintenance management. As the result. we are able to get the our product reliability.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDEPENDENT-TYPE STEER-BY-WIRE SYSTEM USING HILS

  • The previous paper described the logic tuning, the vehicle manufacture and the evaluation in the HILS system for the purpose of the development of a Steer-By-Wire(SBW) system. This paper describes the content of applying to a new HILS system, the vehicle manufacture and the result of the evaluation performed in Independent-type SBW(I-SBW) system. Here, the SBW indicates the method of steering both tires by using one motor as the steering gear actuator, similar to the conventional steering system. On the other hand, the I-SBW means the method of steering both front tires independently by using dual motors as the steering gear actuator. As a result, the layout and the kinematical mechanism of the I-SBW system are quite different from those of the typical steering mechanism. Nevertheless, there is no change in the steering column motor system. In the report, we first describe the structure and control logic of the I-SBW system, and then the control effect on this system as applied for both the HILS system and a vehicle. Furthermore, our HILS system involves the actuator mechanism which realizes the reaction force of the road surface with a minimized frictional force in operation. Therefore, it is possible for us to tune the control logic via the HILS system and confirm the effect of the tuned control logic by applying it to a vehicle with the I-SBW system.

  • The paper discusses the main problems in induction motor diagnosis by motor current and vibration signals, possible faults and effects produced by these faults in the signal spectrums. Decision Tree is introduced as a tool to diagnose the motor status, this expert system is implemented to detect the incipient defects, supervise and predict them, and plan the maintenance of the motor.

  • Recently, the insulation breakdown accident has been experienced at 6.6kV inverter driving motor. That brought about the reliability degradation of motor driving system.. We need to find the solution with system engineering level. The objectives of this study are developing the appropriate filter for the drive to protect the motor and the Insulation system of motor which Is driven by inverter. We clarify the cause of the deterioration of the inverter driving motor through the analysis of Insulation breakdown accidents.

  • 차량 내 전기전자제어시스템의 안전성 확보를 위해 2011년 ISO 26262 기능안전 표준이 제정되었다. 조직 내에서는 이 표준을 적용하여 프로세스 구축 및 평가체계를 수립하고 있다. 하지만 ISO 26262 분야에서는 측정지표 기반의 정량적 평가체계 수립 연구 및 사례가 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 PSM 기반의 ISO 26262 기능안전 측정지표 수립방안과 컨셉-시스템-소프트웨어 개발 단계에 적용한 사례를 제시한다. 본 연구를 적용하는 조직에서는 기능안전 활동에 대한 객관적인 평가기준 수립 가이드를 제공받을 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • With the recent emphasis on the importance of energy conservation, studies on high-efficiency elevator systems are being continuously conducted. Therefore, pulse width modulation converters are commonly used in traction drives on elevator systems. Wide bandgap devices have been increasingly commercialized, and their application to power conversion systems, such as renewable and energy storage system, has been gradually increasing. In this study, a SiC inverter for an elevator traction drive is investigated. In particular, an inverter is designed to minimize stray and parasitic inductance. Input and output filters are designed by considering switching frequency. The designed SiC inverter reduces volume by approximately 32% compared with that of a Si inverter, and power converter efficiency is over 98.8%.

  • Sunroof buffeting is one of the most critical issues in the vehicle wind noise phenomena. The experimental approach to solve this issue typically requires a lot of time and resources. To reduce time and cost, the numerical approach could be taken, which can also privide more insights into physical phenomena involved in sunroof buffeting, only if the accuracy in its predictions are guranteed. The benchmark test of various numerical solvers is carried out for the buffeting behavior of a simplified vehicle body, the Hyundai simplified model(HSM). The results of each solver are compared to the experimental measurements in a Hyundai aeroacoustic wind tunnel(HAWT) at various wind speeds. In particular, acoustic response tests were performed and the results were provided prior to all simulations in order to consider the real world effects that could introduce discrepancies between the numerical and experimental approaches. Through this study, most solvers can demonstrate an acceptable accuracy level for actual commercial development and high precision experimental data and computational prediction priories can be shared in order to promote the numerical accuracy level of each numerical solver.

  • In the case of the Back EMF voltage contains the harmonics, the motor torque ripple and vibration is occurred by the current pulsation, because IPMSM control algorithm is the model which is assumed that it contains a sinusoidal Back EMF voltage. To improve ride quality, in the case of IPMSM for EV, improving the torque control characteristics is necessary. Therefore, there is a need to minimize the influence of the harmonics. In this paper, the investigation to decrease the current distortion factor has been performed for improving torque control characteristics by applying the non-sinusoidal Back EMF to IPMSM model.

LASER WELDING APPLICATION IN CAR BODY MANUFACTURING

  • Laser welding application for car body manufacturing has many advantages in the stiffness and the lightness of vehicle, the productivity of assembly line, and the degree of freedom in design. This presentation will express the innovation of car body manufacturing including parameter optimization, process modeling, and system integration. In this application the investment for systems was cut down dramatically by real time switching over the laser path between two welding stations. Points of technical discussion are as follows: optimization of parameters such as laser power, robot speed and trajectory, compact and useful design of jig & fixture to assure welding quality for 3 sheet-layer zinc-coated steel, system integration between 4kW Nd:YAG laser device and the other systems, on-line real time welding quality monitoring system, perfect safety standards for high power laser, minimization of consumption costs such as arc lamp, protective glass for optic, etc. Laser welding has found a place on Hyundai's production plant in conjunction with the startup of mass production of new sports car, and this production system is the result of a collaboration of its engineers. Outer side sheets are joined to inner side sheets by 122 stitch welds totally. And the length is about 2.4meter.

  • Dramatic increase of social concerns on the environments has led companies to take into account environmental issues in strategic decision-making. The strategic consideration on environmental management is essential to the modern companies. This study was initiated with a research purpose to explain the level and the characteristics of corporate environmental strategy through comparing the Hyundai, GM and Toyota Motor Company. The research method adopted by this research is a case analysis. The degree of environmental management strategy was evaluated in functional sectors or value chain including the production, research and development, procurement, logistic and recycling etc. Consequently, this study could find that Toyota is the most advanced company in the level of environmental management strategy. Also there are many differences among three companies in the level and degree of environmental management strategy. Hyundai and GM did not consider environmental management in foreign subsidiaries as much as Toyota. Motor Company. Also the study find out there are actual gaps between the rhetoric and reality in environmental management strategy in Hyundai Motor Co. All companies included in this study consider importantly ISO14001 as the tool to maintain the environmental management of their companies.
