A Study on Content Characteristics of Hyperrealism Web Drama (하이퍼리얼리즘형 웹드라마 <좋좋소>의 콘텐츠 특성 연구)

  • Korean web drama are undergoing changes before and after the popularization of the OTT platform. The previous web drama were mainly aimed at teenagers, with school content as a genre feature, and the active casting of new idols and the use of B-grade emotions as production characteristics. After the popularization of OTT represented by YouTube and Netflix, there are signs of significant change. This study examined the hyperrealistic content characteristics of the web drama , which can be the center of the change. Through this, it was considered that has a greatly changed aspect from previous web dramas through stereoscopic typification, emphasis on detailed expression, active use of experiential narrative characteristics, and a new media creator-centered production method.

  • Art has evolved into remarkable changes in its art form maintaining a close link with the contemporary scientific technologies that gave birth to new tools of expression in each era. Animation is an art form in an inextricable connection with technological aspects because it was spawned by the technical background like movies. In this regard, animation is often viewed very strongly by technical advancements in terms of an aesthetic approach. John Whitney Sr., one of the pioneers in computer graphics arts, turned his attention to the new technology called computer graphics as a means to visualize images and movement. The advent of a new medium had a strong influence not only on tools and means for novel expression but also on the gradual shift in thinking about arts and even the audiences' taste. In the 1980s, animation was combined with computer technology and the rapid progress of computer graphic technology opened up the era of new visual aesthetics, Today, the development of digital technology presents a different dimension of realism, either advocating hyperrealism by digital actors or presenting new illusionism by classic cartoon characters emphasized in a distortion or metamorphosis from a real life in order to consolidate animation realism. Based on the two perspectives mentioned above, this study can identify methods of digital character appropriation focused on the works of the ACM SIGGRAPH Asia and find how the relationship between art and technology has changed the digital realism and evolved the digital character as the digital technology has developed.

Film Image Transfer System (FITS): An Efficient Method for Proper Positioning of Orthodontic Mini-implants

  • Purpose: To describe the newly developed Film image transfer system (FITS) for proper positioning of the orthodontic mini-implant in the narrow interdental space and considerations for better application. Materials and Methods: A patient who was planning to have orthodontic mini-implant treatment on the posterior maxilla was recruited to assess the feasibility of FITS. Dental radiographic film and bite record was taken. And then the film image was transferred on the photographic emulsion coated model using transfer light through film projector (enlarger). After exposing the photo emulsion coating on the model, the image was developed with a working solution for a paper developer and fixed. The surgical guide for the mini-implant was fabricated from the transported FITS data. Results: The completed surgical guide was easily placed intraorally, and allowed a simple and rapid placement of the mini-implant. The site of the implant placement was accurate as planned position. Conclusion: In the reported case, The FITS technique represents an effort to minimize risk to the patient and produce consistently good results based upon accurate information about the anatomy of the implant site.

  • These days, there are a lot of digital images, which are using to communicate with each other people, can make a liberal and creative media. In this environment, the studies on the digital animation would play a leading role of the aesthetic and technology developments for creative digital images. Digital animation images have their own aesthetics, and characteristics. They should be considered as a part of technology expansions. In particular, hyperrealistic digital animation should be more concentrated in the mutual relation between technology and aesthetic, because hyperrealistic digital animation has not only an appartus feature as a side of aesthetics, but a technology feature as a post modernistic media. Therefore the technology of digital animation as a the possibility of future growth for media should adhere strictly the peculiarity of digital aesthetics.

Structuralization of CGI Visual Format for Digital Cinema and Digital Animation -Focused on Film - (디지털시네마와 디지털애니메이션을 위한 CGI 시각형식 구조화 -영화<정글북>을 중심으로-)

  • CGI not only performed a crucial role to make cinema and animation evolved into digital cinema and digital animation but also CGI, an important visual format, settled realism-centric spectacle image culture in public commercial cinema and animation. The fact that CGI visual format could be structuralized in three different view points is discovered through Iconicity, photorealism, verisimilitude, uncanny valley, hyperrealism, and spectacular realism discourse research which explain image culture. First, a formative viewpoint that comes up in an iconic difference between drawing and photograph. Secondly, a cognitive viewpoint that sees visually perceived naturalness and abnormality as a realistic probability issue. Lastly, a customary viewpoint which is rooted in aesthetic tradition of cinema and animation. After that, the features of CGI which is used in the movie 'jungle book'(2016) were analyzed using the structured visual format. Consequently, this movie has hyper-realistic photographic iconicity on the base of realistic probability. Also, by following image-aesthetic convention which uses overstated and amplified narrative as a visual format, at the same time, the movie also has sufficient image-aesthetic convention in animation by personified animal character.

  • This study will explore the reenactment of visual special effects used in TV dramas. The subjects of the study are images that are reproduced in visual special effects through and . Accordingly, we looked at the changes in the way TV dramas were produced according to the times, and looked at the changes in the market. Also, we looked at cases of visual special effects of Korean dramas, and looked at expressions according to the degree of completion of visual special effects. For the purpose of the analysis of the research targets, the images of reproducibility and the flow through reality were analyzed. In the case of , the period setting is realistic, but visual special effects were used to maximize the actor's safety and expression, and in the case of , the visual effects were used to maximize the aesthetic of the period background. In addition, it can be seen that the visual special effects were used for the effect of PPL on the export of images. This shows that the emphasis of reality and image montage techniques are being used to pursue hyperrealism. It is now possible to actively express and use the beauty of TV dramas rather than technical limitations. In addition, the pursuit of realism can actively express the changing times of digital age. This is an active representation of the camera's angle, lighting, and perspective that coincides with the background. The environment of video production is crucial for realistic expressions. The study examined various visual directions and applications. In TV images, we looked at reproduction, which can make a natural period of time by combining.
