Objectives This case reports the effect of Modified Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang for essential tremor after total vaginal hysterectomy. Methods The patient was treated with Modified Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang three times a day. To differentiate other diseases, we took her medical history. And, we used the Verbal Numerical Rating Scale (VNRS) and Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) to assess tremor and gastrointestinal symptoms. Results Treatment with modified Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang resulted in a decrease in the patient's complaints of symptoms. Also, VNRS and GSRS scale were improved. Adverse effects were not observed. Conclusions Modified Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang may be effective for essential tremor after total vaginal hysterectomy.

A Case Study of the Shaoyangin Mangyin Improved with Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang Mangyin-disease is important syndrome in Shaoyangin' pathology taking diarrhea, general weakness. We treated a 28 years old female patient who complained general weakness, diarrhea, and weight loss She responded well to treatment with Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang . So report it.

Objectives This study was designed to report treatment of Soyangin Mangeum with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Methods We treated two patients suffering from dyspepsia and chest discomfort. A female patient was treated with Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang. A male patient was treated with Hyungbangsabaek-san. The progress was evaluated with the visual analogue scale for dyspepsia, chest discomfort, and other symptoms. Results A female patient's symptoms such as dyspepsia, chest discomfort were almost cured. but they increased with patient's emotional state repeatedly. A male patient' symptoms such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, heart burn was successfully disappeared. Conclusions Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang and Hyungbangsabaek-san can be considered as a treatment for patient with Soyangin Mangyin diagnosed as gastroesophageal reflux disease.

1. Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the anti-aging and anti-oxidant effects of Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang decoction(HGD) in SD rats. 2. Methods This experiment was used the tissue of kidney, bladder and spleen cells of 6, 52 and 68 weeks old SD rats. Each age group was again divided into three groups. One group, as normal group, was not-treated cells, another group, as control group, was saline-treated cells, and the last group, as experimental group, was HG-treated cells. After culture for 48 hours, each groups measured the level of SOD, GSH, MDA and NO in the tissue of kidney, bladder and spleen cells. 3. Results and Conclusions The activity of SOD were significantly increased in kidney cell of 68 w-HGD group, bladder cell of 52 w-HGD group and in spleen cell of 52,68 w-HGD group compared with those of the control groups. The level of GSH were significantly increased in bladder cell of 52w-HGD group and in spleen cell of 68w-HGD group compared with those of the control groups. The level of MDA were significantly decreased in bladder cell of 68 w-HGD group and in spleen cell of 68w-HGD group compared with those of the control groups. The level of NO were significantly decreased in kidney cell of 68 w-HGD group, bladder cell of 52, 68w-HGD groups, and in spleen cell of 68w-HGD group compared with those of the control groups. These results suggest that HGD(Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang) has anti-oxidant effects in aged rats.

Objectives : This case report presents a 68-year-old female patient. Her chief complaint was fatigue and depressed mood. During the therapeutic period, she experienced a sudden onset of unconsciousness. After two days, she became alert. We diagnosed her with conversion disorder. Methods : We treated her with Korean traditional herbal medicine (Chungsimyeonja-eum, Soum-In Bojungyikgi-tang, Hyeongbangjiwhang-tang) and oriental psychotherapy for 21 days. The effects of treatment were measured by Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Zung Depression Rating Scale (SDS), and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-X-1). Results : After treatment, the chief complaint and accompanying symptoms have been subsided and improved. Further, BDI, SDS, STAI-X-1 score were decreased. Conclusions : In this case, we recognized that Korean traditional herbal medicine and oriental psychotherapy could be effective for clinical symptoms of conversion disorder.
