Pyrolysis oil (C5-C20) produced using plastic non-oxidative pyrolysis technology produces naphtha oil (C5-C10) through a separation process, and naphtha oil produces hydrogen through a reforming reaction to secure economic efficiency and social and environmental benefits. In this study, waste plastic pyrolysis oil was subjected to a steam reforming reaction on a commercialized catalyst of 46-3Q And it was found that the 46-3Q catalyst reformed the pyrolysis oil to produce hydrogen. Therefore, an experiment was performed to increase hydrogen yield and minimize the byproduct of ethylene. The reaction experiment was performed using actual waste plastic oil (C8-C11) with temperature, steam/carbon ratio (S/C) ratio, and space velocity as variables. We studied reaction conditions that can maximize hydrogen yield and minimize ethylene byproducts.
Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium solani, F. oxysporum, and Macrophomina phaseolina were found to be associated with root rott and wilt symptoms of faba bean plants collected from different fieldes in New Valley governorate, Egypt. All the obtained isolates were able to attack faba bean plants (cv. Giza 40) causing damping-off and root rot/wilt diseases. R. solani isolates 2 and 5, F. solani isolate 8, F. oxysporum isolate 12 and M. phaseolina isolate 14 were the more virulent ones in the pathogenicity tests. Biocontrol agents (Trichoderma viride and Bacillus megaterium) and chemical inducers (salicylic acid [SA] and hydrogen peroxide) individually or in combination were examined for biological control of damping-off and root rot/wilt and growth promoting of faba bean plants in vitro and in vivo. Both antagonistic biocontrol agents and chemical inducers either individually or in combination inhibited growth of the tested pathogenic fungi. Biocontrol agents combined with chemical inducers recorded the highest inhibited growth especially in case SA + T. viride and SA + B. megaterium. Under green house and field conditions, all treatments significantly reduced damping-off and root rot/wilt severity and increased of survival plants. Also, these treatments increased fresh and weights of the survival plants in pots compared with control. The combination between biocontrol agents and chemical inducers were more effective than used of them individually and SA + T. viride was the best treatment in this respect. Also, under field conditions, all these treatments significantly increased growth parameters (plant height and number of branches per plant) and yield components (number of pods per plant and number of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seeds and total yield per feddan) and protein content in both seasons (2010~2011 and 2011~2012). Faba bean seeds soaked in SA + T. viride and SA + B. megaterium were recorded the highest growth parameters and yield components. Generally, the combination between biocontrol agents and chemical inducers recorded the best results for controlling damping-off and root rot/wilt diseases in greenhouse and field with addition improved plant growth and increased yield components in field.
HC-SCR was conducted over Co-Pt/ZSM5 catalyst coated over 200 cpsi cordierite in the condition of atomspheric pressure and $200^{\circ}C-500^{\circ}C$. Weight ratio of Co/Pt determined from EDX analysis was 8/2, which was almost equal to the weight ratio at preparation step. XPS showed that nitrates within cobalt precursor and chlorine withn Pt precursor were removed. TEM result demonstrated that crystallite size of cobalt and Pt was under 5nm. Among these tested hydrocarbon reductants, isobutane ($i-C_4H_{10}$) showed the highest de-$NO_x$ yield of 80% under the condition of the mole ratio of reductant/NOx=1.0 at $180^{\circ}C$. De-$NO_x$ yield from HC-SCR was increased as the carbon number of hydrocarbon reductant was increased. The decrease of bonding energy between C and H of HC reductant played a role to increase of de-$NO_x$ yield, which indicated that the dissociation step of C-H bond of hydrocarbon molecule might be the rate determining step of HC-SCR. The increase of oxygen concentration in the feed resulted in the decrease of de-$NO_x$ yield but the increase of CO and $N_2O$ yield.
This study investigated the high-efficient process for bioethanol from barley by various condition. First, higher concentrations of ethanol could be produced without loss of yield by using reducing water consumption. This is because it could prevent to increase viscosity despite reducing water consumption. Second, the ethanol yield could be improved by using reducing particle size of biomass (increase of enzyme reactive surface). Third, The addition of protease could have a considerable effect on yield of fermentation, which provides nutrients to the yeast. This results showed that bioethanol production would provide efficient ethanol production and lower production costs.
A study was made on the radioiodination of organic compounds in presence of hydrogen peroxide both in aqueous and organic solvent systems. In case of the reaction of rosebengal, Hippuran, and 5-iodo-uracil the aqueous reaction system could give high labelling yield within a relatively short reaction time. Labelling yield of average 50% could be obtained within 30 minutes of reaction sequence. In cases of organic solvent systems (D.M.S.O., D.M.F., and Dioxane) the solvent system of D.M.S.O. could give better yield for neutral organic compounds, where as D.M.F. and Dioxane gave better labelling result for acidic materials. Especially, o-iodobenzoic acid, o-iodotoluene, and pentachlorophenol could be labelled better in organic solvent system.
Advanced (Chemical) oxidation processes (AOP) differ from most conventional ones in that hydroxyl radical(OH.) is considered to be the primary oxidant. Hydroxyl radicalcan react non-selectively with a great number of organic and inorganic chemicals. The typical rate constants of true hydroxyl radical reactions are in the range of between 109 to 1012 sec-1. Many processes are possible to generate hydroxyl radical. These include physical and chemical methods and their combinations. Physical means involves the use of high energy radiation such as gamma ray, electron beam, and acoustic wave. Under an applied high energy radiation, water molecules can be decomposed to yield hydroxyl radicals or aqueous electrons. Chemical means include the use of conventional oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide and ozone, two of the most efficient oxidants in the presence of promoter or catalyst. Hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst such as divalent iron ions can readily produce hydroxyl radicals. Ozone in the presence of specific chemical species such as OH- or hydrogen peroxide, can also generate hydroxyl radicals. Finally the combination of chemical and physical means can also yield hydroxyl radicals. Hydrogen peroxide in the presence of acoustic wave or ultra violet beam can generate hydroxyl radicals. The principles for hydroxyl radical generation will be discussed. Recent case studied of AOP for water treatment and other environmental of applications will be presented. These include the treatment of contaminated soils using electro-Fenton, lechate treatment with conventional Ponton, treatment of coal for sulfur removal using sonochemical and the treatment of groundwater with enhanced sonochemical processes.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the optimal condition of the Syngas production by reforming of fuel using plasmatron. Plasma was generated by air and arc discharge. The effects of applied steam, $CO_2$ or Ni-catalyst on fuel conversion, as well as hydrogen yield and $H_2$/CO ratio were studied. When the variations of $O_2$/fuel ratio, $H_2O$/fuel flow ratio and $CO_2$/fuel flow ratio were $0.94{\sim}1.48$, $4.3{\sim}10$ and $0.8{\sim}3.05$, respectively. Under the condition mentioned above, result of $H_2O$/fuel flow ratio was maximum $H_2$ concentration, or $28.2{\sim}31.6%$, and result of $H_2O$/fuel flow ratio with catalyst was minimum CO concentration or $6.6{\sim}7.1%$. and $H_2$/CO ratio were $3.89{\sim}4.86$.
Bleached chemithermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) was produced from CTMP of Betula maximowicziana Regel by two staged ozone-hydrogen peroxide bleaching in order to improve the optical properties of high yield pulp. This pulp was used for the evaluation of optical properties improvement, chemical characteristics of lignin in fiber and the relationship between lignin and optical properties in fiber cell wall. Hydrogen peroxide treatment improved the brightness, but the post color number (PC No.). There was little improvement on optical properties by ozone treatment, but this could be improved more by using two staged ozone-hydrogen peroxide bleaching. The hydrogen peroxide treatment did not make any change on chemical characteristics of lignin in cell wall, but by ozone treatment, it was found that the non-aromatic conjugated structure was existed in the surface of cell wall, but this could be removed by hydrogen peroxide treatment in two staged ozone-hydrogen peroxide treatment. Therefore, the optical properties was significantly improved, due to the removal of non-aromatic conjugated structure.
