The influence of co-existing gases on the hydrogen permeation was studied through a Pd-coated $V_{53}Ti_{26}Ni_{21}$ alloy membrane. The hydrogen permeation characteristics of Pd-coated $V_{53}Ti_{26}Ni_{21}$ alloy membrane have been investigated in the pressure range 1-3 bar under pure hydrogen and hydrogen mixture gas with carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide at $450^{\circ}C$. Preliminary hydrogen permeation experiments have been confirmed that hydrogen flux was $5.36mL/min/cm^2$ for a Pd-coated $V_{53}Ti_{26}Ni_{21}$ alloy membrane (thick: 0.5 mm) using pure hydrogen as the feed gas. In addition, hydrogen fluxes were 4.46, 5.20, $3.91mL /min/cm^2$ for$V_{53}Ti_{26}Ni_{21}$ alloy membrane using $H_2/CO_2$, $H_2/CO$ and $H_2/CO_2/CO$ as the feed gas respectively. Therefore, the hydrogen permeation flux decreased with decrease of hydrogen partial pressure irrespective of temperature and pressure when $H_2/CO_2$, $H_2/CO$ and $H_2/CO_2/CO$ mixture applied as feed gas respectively and permeation fluxes were satisfied with Sievert's law in different feed conditions. It was found from XRD results after permeation test that the Pd-coated $V_{53}Ti_{26}Ni_{21}$ alloy membrane had good stability and durability for various mixtures feeding condition.
$Y_2O_3$-SiC composite membrane was dip-coated using $Y_2O_3$ sol solution; this membrane was compared with a non- coated one. Each membrane was characterized by XRD, FE-SEM and BET techniques. Hydrogen and CO permeation were tested with self-manufactured Sievert's type equipment. $Y_2O_3$ coating was enhanced for the selectivity of the membrane ($H_2$ versus CO). The hydrogen permeation was measured at 1 bar with increasing temperatures. In case of the coated membrane, hydrogen permeation was found to be $1.24{\times}10^{-7}mol/m^2sPa$ with perm-selectivity of 4.26 at 323 K.

Recently, the most promising methods for high purity hydrogen production are membranes separation such as polymer, metal, ceramic and composites. It is well known that Pd and Pd-alloys membranes have excellent properties for hydrogen separation. However, it has hydrogen embrittlement and high cost for practical applications. Therefore, most scientists have studied new materials instead of Pd and Pd-alloys. On the other hand, TiN powders are great in resistance to acids and chemically stable under high operating temperature. In order to get specimens for hydrogen permeation, the TiN powders synthesized were consolidated together with Co, Ni powders by hot press sintering (HPS). During the consolidation of powders at HPS, heating rate was 10 K/min and the pressure was 10 MPa. It was characterized by XRD, SEM. Also, we estimated the hydrogen permeability by Sievert's type hydrogen permeation membrane equipment.
A SiC-$CeO_2$ composite membrane was successfully fabricated using an ally-hydridopolycarbosilane (AHPCS) binder and treated by dip-coating at 60 times with a $CeO_2$ sol solution. The dip-coated SiC membrane was calcined at 773 K and then sintered at 1173 K under an air atmosphere. The coated membrane was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and a BET surface analysis. The difference in permeation performance between $H_2$ and CO gases was measured by varying the temperature. The permeation flux of $H_2$ on the SiC membrane with layered $CeO_2$ was obtained as $8.45{\times}10^{-6}\;mol/m^2sPa$ at room temperature. The CO permeation flux was $2.64{\times}10^{-6}\;mol/m^2sPa$ at room temperature. The reaction enthalpy (${\Delta}H^{\circ}$) for the hydrogen permeation process was calculated as -7.82 J/mol by Arrhenius plots.
Polymer membranes composed of N, N-dimethylaminoethyl methaccrylate(DMAEMA) and acrylamide(AAm)(or ethyl acrylamide(EAAm) were prepared to demonstrated the thermo-control of solute permeation. Poly DMEMA has a lower critical solution temperature(LCST) at around 50$\^{C}$ in water, With the copolymerization of DMAEMA with AAm (or EAAm) a shift in the LCST to a lowere temperature was observed, probably due to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the amide and N-N-dimethylamino groups. However, the temperature-induced phase transition of poly(DMAEMA-co-EAAm) did not show a similar trend to that of poly(DMAEMA- co-AAm) in the gel state. The hydrogen bonds in poly(DMAEMA-co-EAAm) were significantly disrupted with the formation a gel network, which led to a difference in the swilling behavior of polymer gels in response to temperature. To apply these polymers to temperature-sensitive sol-ute permeation, polymer membranes were prepared. The permeation pattern of hydrocortisone, used as the model solute, was explained based on the temperature-sensitive swelling behavior of the polymer membranes.
We make a studyof the hydrogen permeability and chemical stability of $Nb_{56}Ti_{23}Ni_{21}$ metal alloy membrane. For this purpose, we produced the $Nb_{56}Ti_{23}Ni_{21}$ membrane which has 10 mm diameter and 0.5 mm thick, and experiment the hydrogen transport properties under two kinds of feed gas ($H_2$ 100%; $H_2$ 60% + $CO_2$ 40%) at $450^{\circ}C$C with variation of absolute pressure. The maximum hydrogen permeation flux was $5.58mL/min/cm^2$ in the absolute pressure 3 bar under pure hydrogen. And each case of feed gases about gas composition, the permeation fluxes were satisfied with Sievert's law, and the hydrogen permeation flux decreased with decrease of hydrogen partial pressure irrespective of temperature and pressure. After permeation test, we experiment the stability and durability of $Nb_{56}Ti_{23}Ni_{21}$ alloy membrane for carbon dioxide by XRD analysis.
The influence of co-existing gases on the hydrogen permeation without sweep gas was studied through a Pd-coated $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ alloy membrane. Membranes have been investigated in the pressure range 1.5-8.0 bar under pure hydrogen, hydrogen-carbon dioxide and hydrogen-carbon monoxide gas mixture without sweep gas at $400^{\circ}C$. Preliminary hydrogen permeation experiments without sweep gas have been confirmed that hydrogen flux was $40.7mL/min/cm^2$ for a Pd-coated $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ alloy membrane (thick : 0.5 mm) using pure hydrogen as the feed gas. In addition, hydrogen flux was $21.4mL/min/cm^2$ for $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ alloy membrane using $H_2/CO_2$ as the feed gas. The hydrogen permeation flux decreased with decrease of hydrogen partial pressure irrespective of pressure when $H_2/CO_2$and $H_2/CO$mixture applied as feed gas respectively and permeation fluxes were satisfied with Sievert's law in different feed conditions. It was found from XRD, SEM/EDX results after permeation test that the Pd-coated $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ alloy membrane had good stability and durability for various mixtures feeding condition.

$H_2$ permeation flux though a $100{\mu}m-thick$ Pd-Ru (6wt%) membrane was measured at various temperatures and pressures. The permeation flux followed the Sievert's law and thus the rate-limiting step of the hydrogen permeation was the bulk atomic diffusion step. The activation energy of the permeation flux was obtained at 17.9 kJ/mol and this value is consistent with those published previously. While no degradation of the permeation flux wasfound in the membrane exposed to the $O_2$ and $CO_2$ environments for 100 hours, the membrane exposed to $N_2$ environment for 100 hours showed the degradation in the $H_2$ permeation flux. The $H_2$ permeation was decreased as the exposure temperature to $N_2$, environment was increased. The $H_2$ permeation flux was fully recovered after the membrane was kept in the $H_2$ environment for certain time. The permeation flux degradation might be caused by the formation of metal nitride on the membrane surface.

A dense mixed ionic and electronic conducting ceramic membrane is one of the most promising materials because it can be used for separation of oxygen from the mixture gas. The $ABO_3$ perovskite structure shows high chemical stability at high temperatures under reduction and oxidation atmospheres. $BaCo_{1-x-y}Fe_xZr_yO_{3-{\delta}}$ (BCFZ) was well-known material as high mechanical strength, low thermal conductivity and stability in the high valence state. Glycine Nitrate Process (GNP) is rapid and effective method for powder synthesis using glycine as a fuel and show higher product crystallinity compared to solid state reaction and citrate-EDTA method. BCFZ was fabricated by modified glycine nitrate process. In order to control the burn-up reaction, $NH_4NO_3$ was used as extra nitrate. According to X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results, BCFZ was single phase regardless of Zr dopants from y=0.1 to 0.3 on B sites. The green compacts were sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Oxygen permeability, methane partial oxidation rate and hydrogen production ability of the membranes were characterized by using Micro Gas Chromatography (Micro GC) under various condition. The high oxygen permeation flux of BCFZ 1-451 was about $1ml{\cdot}cm^{-2}s^{-1}$. Using the humidified Argon gas, BCFZ 1-433 produced hydrogen about $1ml{\cdot}cm^{-2}s^{-1}$.

[ $Zr_{50}-Ni_{27}-Nb_{18}-Co_5$ ] amorphous alloys ribbon was prepared by a single-roller melt-spinning technique. In order to improve the hydrogen kinetics Pd-coating were carried out on each side of the amorphous ribbon. Pd prevents oxidation of Zr and catalyses the dissociation of molecular hydrogen to atomic hydrogen. In this work, the hydrogen embrittlement and surface properties on Zr-based amorphous alloys were investigated. The Zr-based amorphous alloys were characterized by X-ray diffractometry(XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The morphology of surface and roughness was observed by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). A lattice parameter of both Pd and Zr-based amorphous alloy was increased after hydrogen permeation at 473 K. After hydrogen permeation at 473 K, some cracks were observed on the surface of Pd, which was the cause for the hydrogen embrittlement. The crystallization temperature of Zr-based amorphous alloy was decreased due to the permeated hydrogen.
