According to the "hydrogen economy roadmap" announced recently by the government, fuel cell electric vehicle diffusion and hydrogen refueling station construction are actively being carried out to prepare for the hydrogen economy era. The station will be expanded by introducing various charging station models such as hydrogen complex charging station, package, and mobile. Accordingly, the study on the safety demonstration of the charging station and related regulations should be compromised. The purpose of this study is to collect monitoring data during charging according to the distinct four seasons in Korea, and to use it as safety demonstration data by analyzing the charging status, charging rate and charging time during charging.

Recently, a hydrogen charging station-related memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Korea Transport Institute and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Transport in Abu Dhabi, creating a foundation for exporting green hydrogen charging stations and hydrogen powered public transit buses developed with Korean technology to Abu Dhabi. Reliable construction and operation of the charging stations require a thorough review on associated standards and legal requirements. In particular, it is essential to analyze currently effective standards related to hydrogen production, hydrogen vehicle charging, and hydrogen charging stations. This paper specifically focuses on comparative analysis of hydrogen-related standards in the UAE and the Republic of Korea. Similar to UAE, Korean hydrogen charging station-related standards follow International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. From real-life experiences in developing and operating charging stations, even more essence of ISO standards have been adopted in Korean standards than UAE. In particular, ISO standards related to fire prevention are additionally included in Korea. This paper also suggests procedural and administrative strategies for enabling application of Korean hydrogen charging station-related standards in UAE.

After reviewing the current status of hydrogen buses and hydrogen charging stations in the United States, as well as related laws and programs, it was found that the federal and state governments supported the supports of hydrogen buses and the deployment of hydrogen charging infrastructure through various policies and programs. In order to promote the spread of domestic and overseas hydrogen buses and hydrogen charging infrastructure, it is necessary to develop and apply various legal systems and programs that can provide incentives to hydrogen bus manufacturers, hydrogen charging station installers, hydrogen bus operating organizations and entities. Since the government announced the roadmap to revitalize the hydrogen economy, we are constantly making the effort to expand the use of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) and hydrogen charging stations. There is however a significant issue to build and operate the hydrogen charging station due to the lack of the profit model. Many researchers believe that the supply of FCEV will be increased in the near future and finally ensure the economy of hydrogen charging stations. This study shows that the sales changes of hydrogen gas and consumption patterns by the operation of the hydrogen charging station in Changwon City. The results will be used as the evidence to support for operating the hydrogen charging station by private businesses and the validity of additional establishment of hydrogen charging stations.
Hydrogen energy is an eco-friendly energy that produces heat and electricity with high energy efficiency and does not emit harmful substances such as greenhouse gases and fine dust. In particular, smart hydrogen energy is an economical, sustainable, and safe future smart hydrogen energy service, which means a service that stably operates based on 'data' by digitally integrating hydrogen energy infrastructure. In this paper, in order to implement a data-based hydrogen charging station demand forecasting model, three hydrogen charging stations (Chuncheon, Sokcho, Pyeongchang) installed in Gangwon-do were selected, supply and demand data of hydrogen charging stations were secured, and 7 machine learning and deep learning algorithms were used. was selected to learn a model with a total of 27 types of input data (weather data + demand for hydrogen charging stations), and the model was evaluated with root mean square error (RMSE). Through this, this paper proposes a machine learning-based hydrogen charging station energy demand prediction model for optimal hydrogen energy supply and demand.

Due to lack of hydrogen charging stations and hydrogen supply compared to the supply of hydrogen vehicles, social phenomena such as 2-hour queues and restrictions on charging capacity are occurring, which negatively affects the spread of hydrogen vehicles. In order to resolve these problems, it is essential to have a strategic operation of the hydrogen charging stations. To establish operational strategies, it is necessary to derive customer demand patterns and characteristics through the analysis of sales data. This study derived the demand patterns and characteristics of customers visiting hydrogen charging stations through data analysis from various perspectives, such as charging volume, charging speed, number of visits, and correlation with external factors, based on the hydrogen sales data of off-site hydrogen charging stations located in domestic residential areas.
This study conducted a risk assessment using the HyKoRAM program created by international joint research. Risk assessment was conducted based on accident scenarios and worst-case scenarios that could occur in the facility, reflecting design specifications of major facilities and components such as compressors, storage tanks, and hydrogen pipes in the hydrogen charging station, and environmental conditions around the demonstration complex. By identifying potential risks of hydrogen charging stations, we are going to derive the worst leakage, fire, explosion, and accident scenarios that can occur in hydrogen storage tanks, treatment facilities, storage facilities, and analyze the possibility of accidents and the effects of damage on human bodies and surrounding facilities to review safety.

There are 2,517 buses on 143 routes in Busan. One company is operating 36 hydrogen city buses (1.4%) and two hydrogen charging stations. By 2030, the number of hydrogen city buses will be increased to 500 and 40 hydrogen charging stations. In the survey of city bus companies, 61.5% of respondents answered 'not reviewing (at all)' and 23.0% of respondents '(actively) reviewing hydrogen buses'. And as for the level of help that hydrogen city buses give to bus companies, 23.5% answered 'helpful'. In order to promote the introduction of hydrogen city buses, first, it is necessary to stipulate support for hydrogen bus purchase cost and hydrogen charging station construction cost in related ordinances so that bus companies do not increase their burden of purchasing hydrogen buses in the future. Second, identify the number of new city buses introduced, convert about 50% to hydrogen city buses by the mid-term, and build 50% of the chargers in public garages with hydrogen chargers. Third, expand hydrogen refueling stations in city bus garages.
In this study, risk assessment was conducted in case of leakage of storage facilities (tube trailer) using the HyKoRAM program developed through international joint research. The high-pressure gas facilities in the hydrogen filling station are divided into four main categories: storage facilities (tube trailers), processing facilities (compressors), compressed gas facilities, and filling facilities (dispensers). Among them, the design specifications of the tube trailer, which is a storage facility, and the surrounding environmental conditions were reflected to construct an accident scenario with previously occurring accidents and potential accidents. Through this, we identify the risks of storage facilities at hydrogen refueling stations and suggest measures to improve the safety of hydrogen charging stations.

In response to climate change, each country is proposing a goal to reduce greenhouse gases in its energy supply and demand plan, and the use of hydrogen gas is a topic that is always prioritized as an energy resource for implementation. A popular way to use this hydrogen gas is the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and expansion of hydrogen charging stations is essential for using these hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. However, there are several limitations to the expansion of hydrogen refueling stations, the most representative of which is resident acceptance. Most of the hydrogen charging stations currently built in Korea are located in the outskirts with low population density, so the inconvenience to hydrogen fuel cell vehicle users has not been resolved, and as a result, there has been no progress in the spread of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. In this paper, we analyzed the consequences of accident damage to determine the risks of constructing a hydrogen charging station on a railroad site frequently used by citizens. The target hydrogen charging station site was a railroad depot in Busan, and there are trains, national highways, and commercial facilities around this site. Assuming the worst-case scenario, we would like to consider the safety of the hydrogen refueling station site by analyzing the area affected by the accident and its consequence.
