  • The output of small hydro power plant was generated less than rated output under high temperature. We Installed the artificial ventilation that blow cold wind from water supply pipe tunnel to small hydro power plant. The temperature of small hydro power has been decreased. The output of small hydro power plant has been increased from 405kW to 445kW.

  • In this study, the variation of the flow field in Hydro-reactive engine combustor was numerically studied through 2-dimensional axisymmetric model with aluminum and heated water vapor. For calculating all velocity fields, compressible Navier-Stokes equation was used with Pre-conditioning. AUSM+up(p) method was used to exactly calculate mass flow in the control volume. As using SST model that is a turbulent model, the result had high accuracy for free stream and the flow near the wall. The effects of the temperature, variation of the flow field and distribution of chemical products on inject angle of heated water vapor were studied.

  • A floating wind turbine dynamic simulation program, 'WindHydro', is newly developed. In order to investigate the characteristics of the program, a series of loading cases are simulated such as (1) wind only case, (2) free decay cases with initial displacement, (3) wave only case (4) wind and wave case. The simulations are carried out for the 5-MW OC3-Hywind model which has a spar buoy and catenary mooring lines. As a result, the reliability of WindHydro is verified in most viewpoints although additional study is still necessary to clear out some uncertainty of the program.

  • This paper presents a new method for solving unit commitment problem including hydro and pumped storage hydro units in a large scale power system. The proposed method makes it possible to get variable power of hydro and pumped storage hydro units and results in the better unit commitment with good convergency. Moreover this paper proposes an unit commitment algorithm to consider variable power of these units effectively by Lagrangian Relaxation method. By applying the proposed method to the test system, it is verified the usefulness of this method.

  • The purpose of this study evaluates a feasibility and economical efficiency of new renewable energy. According as weather change is serious problem now days, every people make attention to the reduction of greenhouse gas. The revitalization of new renewable energy creates the variety of energy source, stability of energy supply and reduction of greenhouse gas. In this study evaluates a feasibility and economical efficiency from new renewable energy of various photo voltaics, wind power, small hydro and biogas. Feasibility does in standard of technical characteristic, politic support, marketability, establishment present condition and development aim. Economical efficiency does in standard of developmental unit cost, utilization factor, equipment life, politic support cost, interest ratio. The results of this study were as follows photo voltaics, wind, small hydropower, biogas in order feasibility is high. Developmental unit cost, utilization factor, equipment life, politic support cost and analyzed the relationship of interest ratio fluctuation and economical efficiency. From all new renewable energy the utilization factor most is important in economical efficiency but necessary utilization factor is difficult because environmental problem.

  • This study aimed to recover native gold from the concentrate using microwave-nitric acid leaching and magnetic/hydro separation experiments. The insoluble-residue was filtered from leaching solution through microwave-nitric acid leaching experiment. As a result of the atomic absorption spectrometer(AAS) analysis of the filtered leaching solution, it was discovered that Au content was not eluted at all and it was observed from the back scattered electron(BSE) image that native gold was liberated in the insoluble-residue. When magnetic/hydro separation experiments were applied for the insoluble-residue, magnetic and non magnetic minerals were separtated from insoluble-residue. Magnetite was recovered from the magnetic minerals and as a result of applying the hydro separation experiment again for the non-magnetic mineral, native gold was recovered. The native gold was identified through the X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis and BSE image.

  • The variation of inflow at stream and hydrologic performance for small scale hydro power (SSHP) plants due to variation of inflow have been studied. The model, which can predict flow duration characteristic of stream, was developed to analyze the variation of inflow caused from rainfall condition. And another model to predict hydrologic performance for SSHP plants is established. Monthly inflow data measured at Andong dam for 32 years were analyzed. The existing SSHP plant located in upstream of Andong dam was selected and analyzed hydrologic performance characteristics. The predicted results from the developed models in this study show that the data were in good agreement with measured results of long term inflow at Andong dam and the existing SSHP plant. Inflow and ideal hydro power potential had increased greatly in recent years, however, these did not lead annual energy production increment of existing SSHP plant. As a results, it was found that the models developed in this study can be used to predict the primary design specifications and inflow of SSHP plants effectively.

  • Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) has developed and implemented the maintenance effectiveness monitoring (MR) programs for the operating nuclear power plants. MR programs are developed by reflecting design characteristics of the operating nuclear power plants to monitor the plant performance for improving the safety and reliability. Recently, KHNP has developed the MR program for APR1400 safety related systems to establish the advanced maintenance system and will verify the suitability of the MR program through evaluating initial performance. Consequently, it is expected that the safety of the new plant will be improved by developing and implementing the MR program.
