This paper presents the road simulator control technology for reproducing the road input signal to implement the real road data. The simulator consists of the hydraulic pump, servo valve, hydraulic actuator and its control equipment. The QFT(Quantitative Feedback Theory) is utilized to control the simulator effectively. The control system illustrates a tracking performance of the closed-loop controller with low order transfer function G(s) and pre-filter F(s) for a parametric uncertain model. A force controller is designed to communicate the control signal between simulator and digital controller. Tracking specification is satisfied with upper and lower bound tolerances on the steep response of the system to the reference signal. The efficacy of the QFT force controller is verified through the numerical simulation, in which combined dynamics and actuation of the hydraulic servo system are tested. The simulation results show that the proposed control technique works well under uncertain hydraulic plant system. The conventional software (Labview) is used to make up for the real controller in the real-time basis, and the experimental works show that the proposed algorithm works well for a single road simulator.
In this paper, the development of a manually and continuously variable impact force control mechanism for hydraulic breakers was studied. Generally, a hydraulic breaker has one or two piston strokes. Hydraulic breakers, which have two strokes, have two valve-switching ports and make short and long piston strokes. The piston stroke valve controls the piston stroke by opening and closing a short stroke-switching port. The short piston stroke mode is used to break soft rock, concrete, or asphalt. This stroke control valve system is not popular for small hydraulic breakers mounted on 1 to 14-ton excavators. To preserve the carrier-like excavator, proper breaking force is needed, and it can be easily controlled by multiple piston stroke control valves. The easiest way to control these breakers is to use several switching ports and valves but they are not easy to install in small hydraulic breakers and are expensive. To use only one switching port and valve, a method can be used to change the open area of the switching port to delay valve switching. This method provides multiple piston strokes.

In this paper a configuration of the load evaluation device for the tilting actuator using hydraulic power is presented, which makes it possible to measure the force action on the tilting actuator. It is possible to measure only current using the conventional electro-mechanical actuator when the bogie is in the process of the tilting. This makes impossible to measure the force acting on the tilting actuator. In order to overcome this problem a kinetic mechanism test system using hydraulic cylinder is proposed. The system are consisted of hydraulic cylinder for the tilting actuation, control system to control hydraulic power, sensors to measure for force and displacement and monitoring system for the user interface.

For the establishment of large force standard and the accurate measurement of large force, 2MN hydraulic force standard machine which consists of loading frame, deadweight machine, two ram/cylinder systems and hydraulic control system was designed and fabricated. Measurement results of shapes for tow ram/cylinders reveal that the ratio of effective area is 200.094. The relative deviation of force stability for the machine is about .+-. 0.01% at 2MN and is less than .+-. 0.005% below 2MN. This machine may be widely used to calibrate the force measuring devices in industry and to test the force sensors.

In recent years, river maintenance projects using natural methods have been continuously implemented in urban areas and methods emphasizing ecology are being developed and constructed in revetment areas. However, there is insufficient technical review on the hydraulic stability of those revetment methods during the event of flood. Therefore, a hydraulic analysis is necessary for the stream where revetments are applied. This study was conducted to develop an objective test method for the hydraulic stability of green revetment media. For this purpose, hydraulic model tests were performed for the green base materials for revetments. Tests were conducted using experimental devices for the hydraulic model which were installed to simulate the rapid current during the flood. Loss of soil by the hydraulic condition was compared and analyzed with that of dry green revetment media, and the evaluations were made on the corrosion resistance, tractive force, and contractile force. Test results showed that green revetment media had higher corrosion resistance in non-vegetation condition compared to dry green revetment media, and the loss of base materials by the rooting of vegetation showed significant reduction by the vegetation. In addition, results of the allowable tractive force of the base material indicated it is relatively stable in vegetation condition but scouring can occur in non-vegetation condition. Therefore, the development of vegetation in revetment areas is anticipated to be effective for the stability of revetment areas by reducing external forces interacting with the corrosion resistance and stream bank. The green revetment media in expected to contribute to the stability of revetment areas.
In this paper, the design of automatic impact force control mechanism of hydraulic breaker was studied. The control mechanism uses the change of piston upper chamber pressure, when the hydraulic breaker impacts various strength rock. The piston stroke is controlled by rock strength sensing valve, piston stroke switching valve, and piston control valve. It is imperative to denote the area of each valve section, the spring constant of the spring. It provides convenience to users by automatically adjusting the appropriate striking force, according to the strength of the rock. Additionally, by increasing work productivity, it can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions due to fuel efficiency reduction.

The design of hydraulic & control system has been developed for the disc spinning machine. The hydraulic system has been designed in the overall system including the vertical & horizontal slide fur spinning works which are controlled by hydraulic servo valves in right & left side, and the clamping slide for holding & pressing blank material in center during spinning process. Based on the design concept of this hydraulic system, model test experiments for hydraulic servo control system is tested to conform confidence and applying possibility. The control system is introduced with the fuzzy-sliding mode controller for the hydraulic force control reacting force as a disturbance, because a fuzzy controller does not require an accurate mathematical model for the generation of nonlinear factors in the actual nonlinear plant with unknown disturbances and a sliding controller has the robustness & stability in mathematical control algorithm. We conform that the fuzzy-sliding mode controller has a good performance in force control for the plant with a strong disturbance. Also, we observe that a steady state error of the fuzzy-sliding mode controller can be reduced better than those of an another controllers.
Electro-hydraulic spring return actuator(ESRA) is utilized for air conditioning facilities in a nuclear power plant. It features self-contained, hydraulic power that is integrally coupled to a single acting hydraulic cylinder and provides efficient and precise linear control of valves as well as return of the actuator to the de-energized position upon loss of power. In this paper, the algebraic equations of ESRA at steady-state have been developed for the analysis of static characteristics that includes control pressure and valve displacement of pressure reducing valve, flow force on flapper as well as its displacement over the entire operating range. Also, the effect of external load on piston deviation is investigated in terms of linear system analysis. The results of static characteristics show the unique feature of force balance mechanism and can be applied to the stable self-controlled mechanical system design of ESAR.
The hydraulic cylinder is used for actuating the roller-link type rotating floodgate which controls the volume of water in the reservoir. The locating points of hydraulic cylinder are restricted to the limited space and determined to minimize the cylinder force necessary for actuating the floodgate. Generally, the head end point of cylinder is fixed at underground and the rod end point of cylinder is connected to the support link. Therefore there exist three design variables to be determined to minimize the cylinder force within the rotating range of floodgate. First, the mathematical model of the roller-link type rotating floodgate is derived to find the cylinder force corresponding to the floodgate angle. Then, the optimal locating point of hydraulic cylinder is searched using the complex method that is one kind of constrained direct search method.
In hydraulic machinery, the hydraulic fluid acts primarily as working fluid and secondarily as a lubricant. Hence, the viscous friction force acting on the sliding components should be reduced to improve the mechanical efficiency. It is now well known that the surface texturing is a useful method for friction reduction. In this study, using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT, the lubrication characteristics of a surface textured slider bearing under high boundary pressure difference is studied. The streamlines, velocity profiles, pressure distributions, load capacity, friction force and leakage flowrate are highly affected by the film thickness ratio and the textured region. Partial texturing at the inlet region of the inclined slider bearing can reduce both friction force and leakage flowrate than in the untextured case. The present results can be used to improve the lubrication characteristics of hydraulic machinery.
