Configuration Planning of an Actively Articulated Suspension to Vehicle Orientation Control on Unstructured Terrain (험지에서의 가변 휠형 무인 자율차량의 자세 제어를 위한 가변 휠의 형상 계획)

  • Hybrid locomotive UGV with actively articulated legs along with wheeled ends has high traversability to travel over rough terrain. The behavior control method was usually adapted for the controlling of the suspension configuration which determines the traversability of the UGV. In this study, we are proposing a method of configuration planning of the legs without any detail geometric data about the terrain. The terrain was estimated by the traces of each wheel and the leg configurations for the desired posture of the vehicle were set up against the constraints of the terrain. Also, an optimal leg configuration was calculated based on the quasi-static stability and power consumption, and plans for the leg behavior were made. Validity of the proposed method was checked by simulations using some off-the-shelf programs, and showed that the orientation control without geometric features of terrains and simplification of the behavior planning for obstacle negotiation were possible.

  • In this paper, the development and performance analysis of a fuel cell-powered unmanned aerial vehicle is described. A fuel cell system featuring 1 kW proton exchange membrane fuel cell combined with a highly pressurized fuel supply system is proposed. For the higher fuel consumption efficiency and simplification of overall system, dead-end type operation is chosen and each individual system such as purge system, fuel supply system, cooling system is developed. Considering that fluctuation of exterior load makes it hard to stabilize fuel cell performance, the power management system is designed using a fuel cell and lithium-ion battery hybrid system. After integration of individual system, the performance of unmanned aerial vehicle is analyzed using data from flight and laboratory test. In the result, overall system was properly operated but for more duration of flight, research on weight lighting and improvement of fuel efficiency is needed to be progressed.

Hardware Design of High Performance In-loop Filter in HEVC Encoder for Ultra HD Video Processing in Real Time (UHD 영상의 실시간 처리를 위한 고성능 HEVC In-loop Filter 부호화기 하드웨어 설계)

  • This paper proposes a high-performance in-loop filter in HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding) encoder for Ultra HD video processing in real time. HEVC uses in-loop filter consisting of deblocking filter and SAO(Sample Adaptive Offset) to solve the problems of quantization error which causes image degradation. In the proposed in-loop filter encoder hardware architecture, the deblocking filter and SAO has a 2-level hybrid pipeline structure based on the $32{\times}32CTU$ to reduce the execution time. The deblocking filter is performed by 6-stage pipeline structure, and it supports minimization of memory access and simplification of reference memory structure using proposed efficient filtering order. Also The SAO is implemented by 2-statge pipeline for pixel classification and applying SAO parameters and it uses two three-layered parallel buffers to simplify pixel processing and reduce operation cycle. The proposed in-loop filter encoder architecture is designed by Verilog HDL, and implemented by 205K logic gates in TSMC 0.13um process. At 110MHz, the proposed in-loop filter encoder can support 4K Ultra HD video encoding at 30fps in realtime.
