COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES FOR VARIOUS BAND CEMENTS (수종의 밴드 접착 시멘트의 물성에 대한 비교 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to compare the shear-peel strength and the fracture site of 5 commercially available orthodontic band cements. One hundred molar bands were cemented to extracted human 3rd molars. The specimens were prepared in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for each cement. After storage in a humidor at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours, the shear debonding force was assessed for each specimen using an universal testing machine with crosshead speed of 2 mm/minute. Maximal failure stress was converted to mean shear-peel strength, MPa. The predominant site of band failure was recorded visually for all specimens as either at the band/cement or cement/enamel interface. Mean shear-peel strength of Ormco was the highest(2.44${\pm}$0.57), followed by Fuji $Ortho^{TM}$(2.24${\pm}$0.50), $Ketac-Cem^{TM}$(2.10${\pm}$0.57), 3M $Unitek^{TM}$(1.82${\pm}$0.43), $Band-Lok^{TM}$(1.73${\pm}$0.28). There were statistically significant differences between Ormco and $Band-Lok^{TM}$, Ormco and 3M $Unitek^{TM}$, and Fuji $Ortho^{TM}$ and $Band-Lok^{TM}$(p<0.05). The predominant site of bonding failure for bands cemented with the Ormco was at the band/cement interface, whereas bands cemented with Ultra $Band-Lok^{TM}$ failed predominantly at the enamel/cement interface. There was no significant difference among the other cements(Fuji $Ortho^{TM}$, 3M $Unitek^{TM}$, $Ketac-Cem^{TM}$).

The shear bond strength and adhesive failure pattern in bracket bonding with different light-curing methods (브라켓 접착시 광중합방식에 따른 전단결합강도와 파절양상 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of a plasma arc light and light emitting diode (LED), compared with shear bond strength and the failure pattern of brackets bonded with visible light in direct bonding. Brackets were bonded with Transbond XT to 60 human premolars embedded in the resin blocks according to different light-curing methods. Then, the shear bond strength of each group was measured using a universal testing machine (Instron) and the adhesive failure pattern after debonding was visually examined by light microscope. The results were as follows: 1. The shear bond strength showed no significant difference between the visible light and light emitting diode, but the plasma arc light exhibited a significantly lower shear bond strength compared with the visible light and light emitting diode. 2. In the visible light and light emitting diode, adhesive failure patterns were similar. Bond failure occurred more frequently at the enamel-adhesive interface. 3. The bonding failure of brackets bonded with plasma arc light occurred more frequently at the bracket-adhesive interface. The results of this study suggest that plasma arc light, light emitting diode and visible light are all clinically useful in the direct bonding of orthodontic brackets.

Development of Greenhouse Environment Monitoring & Control System Based on Web and Smart Phone (웹과 스마트폰 기반의 온실 환경 제어 시스템 개발)

  • Monitoring and control of the greenhouse environment play a decisive role in greenhouse crop production processes. The network system for greenhouse control was developed by using recent technologies of networking and wireless communications. In this paper, a remote monitoring and control system for greenhouse using a smartphone and a computer with internet has been developed. The system provides real-time remote greenhouse integrated management service which collects greenhouse environment information and controls greenhouse facilities based on sensors and equipments network. Graphical user interface for an integrated management system was designed with bases on the HMI and the experimental results showed that a sensor data and device status were collected by integrated management in real-time. Because the sensor data and device status can be displayed on a web page, transmitted using the server program to remote computer and mobile smartphone at the same time. The monitored-data can be downloaded, analyzed and saved from server program in real-time via mobile phone or internet at a remote place. Performance test results of the greenhouse control system has confirmed that all work successfully in accordance with the operating conditions. And data collections and display conditions, event actions, crops and equipments monitoring showed reliable results.

THE EFFECTS OF SURFACE CONTAMINATION ON THE SHEAR BOND STRENGTH OF COMPOMER

  • The lastest concepts in bonding are "total etch", in which both enamel and dentin are etched with an acid to remove the smear layers, and "wet dentin" in which the dentin is not blown dry but left moist before application of the bonding primer. Ideally, the application of a bonding agent to tooth structure should be insensitive to minor contamination from oral fluids. Clinically contaminations such as saliva, gingival fluid, blood and handpiece lubricant are often encountered by dentists during preparation of a restoration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of contamination by hem-ostatic agents on shear bond strength of compomer restorations. One hundred and ten extracted human maxillary and mandibular molar teeth were collected. The teeth were cleaned from soft tissue remnant and debris and stored in physiologic solution until they were used. Small flat area on dentin of the buccal surface were wet ground serially with 400, 800 and 1200 abrasive paper on automatic polishing machine. The teeth were randomly divided into 11 groups. Each group was conditioned as follows: Group 1 : Dentin surface was not etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group2 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Astringedent (Ultradent product Inc., Utah, U.S.A.). Group3 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Bosmin (Jeil Phann, Korea.). Group4 : Dentin surface was not etched but was contaminated by Epri-dent (Epr Industries, NJ, U.S.A.). Group5: Dentin surface was etched and not contaminated by hemostatic agents. Group 6 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Astringedent. Group7 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Bosmin. Group8 : Dentin surface was etched and contaminated by Epri-dent. Group9 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Astringedent. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compressed air. Group10 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Bosmin. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water aud dried by compresfed air. Group 11 : Dentin surface was contaminated by Epri-dent. The contaminated surface was rinsed by water and dried by compresfed air. After surface conditioning, F2000 was applicated on the conditoned dentin surface. The teeth were thermocycled in distilled water at $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ for 1000 cycles. The samples were placed on the binder with the bonded compomer-dentin interface parallel to the lmife-edge shearing rod of the Universal testing machine(Zwick 020, Germany) running at a cross head speed of 1.0mmimin. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between groups 1 and group 3 and 4, but group 2 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 1. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 7 and 8, but group 6 showed significant decrease in shear bond strength compared with group 5. There were no significant differences in shear bond strength between group 5 and group 9, 10 and 11.

Comforts Evaluation of Car Seat Clothing (자동차 시트 표피재의 감성평가)

  • A comfort evaluation of car seat clothing has been proposed for high comforts interior seat clothing. Car seat covers have received wide spread attention due to their man-machine interface working. And then, it will be necessary for measurements on delicate basic mechanical-properties, which closely relate with human touch feeling of its materials. In this research, we have utilized $KES-FB^{(R)}$(Kawabata Evaluation System) series, $^ST300{(R)}$ analogue softness tester and friction tester for measurement a physical properties. In order to consider both kansei and physical properties on interior seat covers, we firstly have established subjective words of judgement for the seat covers. Secondly, related them to the objective measurement of physical properties. Each kansei-language has clearly defined as 'Softness', 'Elasticity', 'Volume' and 'Stickiness' for the adjectives of leather car seat covers. These technical terms have correlated to physical properties in other words, h (mm), bending moment ($gf^*$cm/cm), To-Tm (mm) and ${\mu}$. At this time, fuzzy logic has utilized to predict the value of kansei language through physical values. On the basis of this result, finally it is possible to predict quality index of car seat covers using neural networks technique. In short, we develop a quality evaluation system of car seat clothing combining four physical quantities with kansei engineering.

Applying Social Strategies for Breakdown Situations of Conversational Agents: A Case Study using Forewarning and Apology (대화형 에이전트의 오류 상황에서 사회적 전략 적용: 사전 양해와 사과를 이용한 사례 연구)

  • With the breakthrough of speech recognition technology, conversational agents have become pervasive through smartphones and smart speakers. The recognition accuracy of speech recognition technology has developed to the level of human beings, but it still shows limitations on understanding the underlying meaning or intention of words, or understanding long conversation. Accordingly, the users experience various errors when interacting with the conversational agents, which may negatively affect the user experience. In addition, in the case of smart speakers with a voice as the main interface, the lack of feedback on system and transparency was reported as the main issue when the users using. Therefore, there is a strong need for research on how users can better understand the capability of the conversational agents and mitigate negative emotions in error situations. In this study, we applied social strategies, "forewarning" and "apology", to conversational agent and investigated how these strategies affect users' perceptions of the agent in breakdown situations. For the study, we created a series of demo videos of a user interacting with a conversational agent. After watching the demo videos, the participants were asked to evaluate how they liked and trusted the agent through an online survey. A total of 104 respondents were analyzed and found to be contrary to our expectation based on the literature study. The result showed that forewarning gave a negative impression to the user, especially the reliability of the agent. Also, apology in a breakdown situation did not affect the users' perceptions. In the following in-depth interviews, participants explained that they perceived the smart speaker as a machine rather than a human-like object, and for this reason, the social strategies did not work. These results show that the social strategies should be applied according to the perceptions that user has toward agents.

A 2D / 3D Map Modeling of Indoor Environment (실내환경에서의 2 차원/ 3 차원 Map Modeling 제작기법)

  • In large scale environments like airport, museum, large warehouse and department store, autonomous mobile robots will play an important role in security and surveillance tasks. Robotic security guards will give the surveyed information of large scale environments and communicate with human operator with that kind of data such as if there is an object or not and a window is open. Both for visualization of information and as human machine interface for remote control, a 3D model can give much more useful information than the typical 2D maps used in many robotic applications today. It is easier to understandable and makes user feel like being in a location of robot so that user could interact with robot more naturally in a remote circumstance and see structures such as windows and doors that cannot be seen in a 2D model. In this paper we present our simple and easy to use method to obtain a 3D textured model. For expression of reality, we need to integrate the 3D models and real scenes. Most of other cases of 3D modeling method consist of two data acquisition devices. One for getting a 3D model and another for obtaining realistic textures. In this case, the former device would be 2D laser range-finder and the latter device would be common camera. Our algorithm consists of building a measurement-based 2D metric map which is acquired by laser range-finder, texture acquisition/stitching and texture-mapping to corresponding 3D model. The algorithm is implemented with laser sensor for obtaining 2D/3D metric map and two cameras for gathering texture. Our geometric 3D model consists of planes that model the floor and walls. The geometry of the planes is extracted from the 2D metric map data. Textures for the floor and walls are generated from the images captured by two 1394 cameras which have wide Field of View angle. Image stitching and image cutting process is used to generate textured images for corresponding with a 3D model. The algorithm is applied to 2 cases which are corridor and space that has the four wall like room of building. The generated 3D map model of indoor environment is shown with VRML format and can be viewed in a web browser with a VRML plug-in. The proposed algorithm can be applied to 3D model-based remote surveillance system through WWW.

An Analysis on Incident Cases of Dynamic Positioning Vessels (Dynamic Positioning 선박들의 사고사례 분석)

  • The Dynamic Positioning System consists of 7 elements which are namely Power system, Human machine interface, DP Computer, Position Reference System(PRS), Sensors, Thruster system and DP Operator. Incidents like loss of position(LOP) on DP vessel usually occur due to errors in these 7 elements. The purpose of this study is to find out safety operation method of DP vessel through qualitative and quantitative analyze of DP LOP incidents which are submitted to IMCA every year. The 612 DP LOP incidents submitted from 2001 to 2010 were analyzed to find out the main cause of the incidents and its rate among other causes. Consequently, the highest rate of incidents involving DP elements are PRS errors. DP computer, Power system, Human error and thruster system came next. The PRS has been analyzed and a flowchart was drawn through expert brainstorming. Also, the conditional probability has been analyzed through Bayesian Networks based on this flowchart. Consequentially, the main causes of drive off incidents were DGPS, microwave radar and HPR. Also, this study identified the main causes of DGPS errors through Bayesian Networks. These causes are signal blocked, electric components failure, relative mode error, signal weak or fail.

EFFECTS OF ACID ETCHING TIMES ON ENAMEL SURFACE MORPHOLOGY AND SHEAR BOND STRENGTH OF ORTHODONTIC ATTACHMENT TO ENAMEL (산부식시간이 법랑질 표면 부식형태와 교정장치의 전단접착강도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of different acid etching times on the enamel surface morphology, shear bond strength and debonding failure mode of orthodontic attachment. Ninety six extracted human mandibular premolars were divided into eight groups of twelve teeth. The buccal surfaces were etched with $37\%$, phosphoric acid for 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 seconds, respectively. Two teeth from each group were used for scanning electron microscope examination. On the etched buccal surfaces of remaining teeth, orthodontic attachments(lingual buttons) were bonded with light cured orthodontic adhesive. Twenty foot hours after bonding, a Instron universal testing machine was used to determine shear bond strength of orthodontic attachment to enamel. After debonding, bases of orthodontic attachments and enamel surfaces were examined under stereoscopic microscope to determine failure mode. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out with one nay ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test The results were as follows; 1. There was no statistically significant difference in shear bond strengths between the various etching times(p<0.05). 2. The failure modes of orthodontic attachments had some differences. In 5, 10 and 15 seconds etching groups, the percentage of adhesive/enamel interface failure was higher than that of adhesive/attachment interface failure. On the contrary, in 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 seconds etching groups, the results were reversed. 3. The etching patterns of enamel surfaces had a great variation. So, we could not find any correlation between etching pattern and bond strength. 4. The findings in this study indicate that in vitro reduction of the etching me to 5 seconds maintains clinically acceptable bond strength. However, further study is required to determine the cause of failure mode in 5, 10 and 15 seconds groups.

  • In present, ATM integrated switching system has been developed to a mixed modules that complexed switching system including maintenance, operation based on B-ISDN/LAN service and plug-in module, , which runs on workstation computer system. Meanwhile, workstation has HMI operation system feature including file system management, time management, graphic processing, TMN agent function. The workstation has communicated with between ATM switching module and clients. This computer system architecture has much burden messages communication among processes or processor. These messages communication consume system resources which are socket, message queue, IO device files, regular files, and so on. Therefore, in this paper we proposed new performance modeling with this system architecture. We will analyze the system bottleneck and improve system performance. In addition, in the future, the system has many additional features should be migrated to workstation system, we need previously to evaluate system bottleneck and redesign it. In performance model, we use queueing network model and the simulation package is used PDQ and C-program.
