  • The purpose of this study is to develop a group counseling program for career exploration and to explore its effects on college students' self-efficacy. Main program activities consisted of 8-week sessions. Equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was employed for this study. 40 college students voluntarily participated in a group counseling of career exploration. Another 40 students were selected for a control group of this study design. The self-efficacy (23 items) was administered to both the experimental and the control groups before and after the 8-week treatments. The results of this research showed that the differences (program effects) of the experimental group in the scale were higher than those of the control group. In conclusion, a group counseling program for the career exploration had significant effects on the career exploration and self-efficacy of college students.

  • The paper is the principle of a curriculum, a recent method of teaching-learning in pedagogy, and intended for the exploration of the meaning of which reconstructs curriculum by narrative through practical exploration and narrative being discussed as the form of exploration. To date, Korean education showed an inclination of the traditional paradigm centered thinking and has emphasized the results by the method of scientific investigation. Even a curriculum reconstruction demonstrates documents that produce results without actually demonstrating the actual school setting. With communication one another is becoming increasingly important, we need the conversion of cognitive thinking that can express dilemma, contradictions, and complexities of the human world of which unexplainable by traditional paradigm mindset. Ultimately, the exploration of the direction that reflects a series of verbal, symbolic, and spiritual activities, which analyze lives of students, understanding and composing the meaning by using narrative, which talks about the experience of the human world in curriculums, is an important task for us.

  • An exploration for an intelligence paradigm has been delineated. Artificial intelligence and artificial life paradigms seem to fail to show the whole picture of human intelligence. We may understand the human intelligence better by adding the emotional part of human intelligence to the intellectual part of human intelligence. Emotional intelligence is investigated in terms of composing machine as a modern abstract art. Various algorithmic composition and performance concepts are currently being investigated and implemented. Intelligent mapping algorithms restructure the traditional predetermined composition algorithms. Music based on fractals and neural networks is being composed. Also, emotional intelligence and aesthetic aspects of Korean traditional music are investigated in terms of fractal relationship. As a result, this exploration will greatly broaden the potentials of the intelligence research. The exploration of art in the view of intelligence, information and structure will restore the balanced sense, of art and science which seeks happiness in life. The investigations of emotional intelligence will establish the foundations of intelligence, information and control technologies.

  • As human life and welfare become more valued in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, the role and mission of human ecology are expanding. Therefore, a career exploration and education program for high school students covering all the academic fields of human ecology may be necessary. To investigate what would be needed to develop such a program, a focus group interview (FGI) targeting experts within the same field and a survey targeting high school students were conducted. As a result of the FGI, a total of 3 categories and 7 subcategories were identified. The three categories included "human ecology and high school education," "human ecology and career choices," and "education program development and management in human ecology." The results of the high schoolers' survey showed that they had a moderate level of awareness about careers related to human ecology majors, but their interests and known information about human ecology programs in universities were low. Within the sub-content of each major, the contents with the highest educational needs were fashion product management, nutrition by disease, housing market analysis, personal financial management, and children's rights and welfare. If a career exploration and education program is implemented in the future, the most preferred type is a mentoring program by professors, students, and graduates in the field of human ecology. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop and implement an integrative education program about human ecology majors based on the educational needs of high school students.

  • This paper proposes an exploration strategy to efficiently find a specific place in large unknown environments with wall-following based path planning. Many exploration methods proposed so far showed good performance but they focused only on efficient planning for modeling unknown environments. Therefore, to successfully accomplish the room finding task, two additional requirements should be considered. First, suitable path-planning is needed to recognize the room number. Most conventional exploration schemes used the gradient method to extract the optimal path. In these schemes, the paths are extracted in the middle of the free space which is usually far from the wall. If the robot follows such a path, it is not likely to recognize the room number written on the wall because room numbers are usually too small to be recognized by camera image from a distance. Second, the behavior which re-explores the explored area is needed. Even though the robot completes exploration, it is possible that some rooms are not registered in the constructed map for some reasons such as poor recognition performance, occlusion by a human and so on. With this scheme, the robot does not have to visit and model the whole environment. This proposed method is very simple but it guarantees that the robot can find a specific room in most cases. The proposed exploration strategy was verified by various experiments.

  • To improve the recovery rate of unlocated buried human remains in forensic investigations, there is scope to evaluate and develop techniques that are applicable to the Australian environment. I established controlled gravesites (comprising shallow buried kangaroos, pigs, and human cadavers) in South Australia, to allow the methodical testing of remote sensing equipment for the purpose of grave detection in forensic investigations. Eight-month-old pig graves are shown to provide more distinct identifying results using ground-penetrating radar when compared to four-year-old kangaroo graves. Two further aspects of this research are presented: information (obtained from a survey) relating to the police use of geophysical instruments for locating buried human remains, and the use of electrical resistivity for locating human remains buried in a coffin. The survey of Australian police jurisdictions, covering the period 1995-2000, showed that police searches for unlocated bodies have not successfully located human remains using any geophysical instruments (such as ground-penetrating radar, magnetometers, or electrical resistivity). Lower resistivity readings were found coincident with the 150-year-old single historical burial in a heavily excavated field, in a situation where its exact location was previously unknown.

  • Human spaceflight experience in extra-vehicular activity (EVA) is limited to two regimes: the micro-gravity environment of Earth orbit, and the lunar surface environment at one-sixth of Earth's gravity. Future human missions to low-gravity bodies, including asteroids, comets, and the moons of Mars, will require EVA techniques that are beyond the current experience base. In order to develop robust approaches for exploring these small bodies, the dynamics associated with human exploration on low-gravity surface must be characterized. This paper examines the translational and rotational motion of an astronaut on the surface of a small body, and it is shown that the low-gravity environment will pose challenges to the surface mobility of an astronaut, unless new tools and EVA techniques are developed. Possibilities for addressing these challenges are explored, and utilization of the International Space Station to test operational concepts and hardware in preparation for a low-gravity surface EVA is discussed.
