The Purpose of the study was to understand the experience of chronic renal failure patients for the qualified individual care for them. The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of patients living with chronic renal failure and to identify the meaning and structure of their experience. The subjects were four patients, two females and two males. The age range was from 21 to 54. Data was collected with a few in-depth interviews by the authors until the data was fully saturated. The framework and methodology of this study was based on Parse′s "Human Becoming methodology," an existential phenomenological research methodology. The findings of this study were as follows. Three experience structures of chronic renal failure patients were : 1. Sufferings and conflicts originated in the frustration caused by uncurable disease. 2. Dependence upon God and significant others with complex emotions. 3. Acceptance of sufferings, emerging hope for serving people, and gratitude for living. In conclusion the experience of chronic renal failure patients could be described from the findings (three structures) as "Experiencing the sufferings, conflicts originated in the frustration caused by uncurable disease, dependence upon God and significant others with complex emotion, acceptance of the suffering and hope for serving people, and gratitude for living." The three structures of the lived experience of patients with chronic renal failure, the findings of this study, could be explained by the three concepts of "Theory of Human Becoming," the first structure could be explained with values, the second with revealing-concealing, and the third with transforming.
Purpose: This study was aimed at understanding the nature of the suffering of families with patients in mental health nursing homes and hoped to contribute to the rehabilitation process of those with a chronic mental disorder. Method: Research methodology was based upon Parse's human becoming research methodology. Results: a) Despite the despair the family feels by the violence caused by their now-institutionalized relative, they also realize anew the importance of their role as protectors b) Although they fear social stigmatization they also try to be supportive, out of guilt feelings; c) They regret their severe rearing style and wish to be more sympathetic, d) They find courage and hope through family therapy, which leads to a better understanding of the illness, e) With hopes of rehabilitation, the family members feel happy and go through an emotional release, by sharing the pain with each other. Conclusion: Families of nursing home residents share a focus on the process of human-health-universe. This is a positive,'human-becoming' process with which, based on past feelings of despair, fear, resignation, and pain, one can render meaning into his or her experiences in the present in the pursuit of love, conquest, hope, liberty and success.

And Watson's theory of human care indicate that the optimal method for studying and inquiring theory of trans-personal caring is phenomenological-existential methodology. The chief theme of this study ist to illuminate how ideas and concepts of existential phenomenology are applied to Parse's and watson's theory of nursing. Content of this Study are summarized as follow; 1. Principles, concepts, theoretical structure of Man-Living-Health theory were investigated in Parse's theory of nursing as Human science. 2. Essential assumptions, chief concepts and methodology of human science and human care were investigated in Watson's theory of trans- personal caring. 3. Phenomenological analysis of "Human being" und poetic thinking of truth were described in the context of the Heidegger's fundamental ontology und existential phenomenology. 4. Meaning of existential subjectivity, freedom and choice war interpreted according to Sartre's existential philosophy 5. Human health is an integral part of experience in the process of Human Becoming. Through continual interaction with the environment human beings freely choose experience and develop as responsible beings. The process of the health experience of patient with terminal cancer is a unique. he objective of this study is to understand the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer in order to provide basic information for nursing care in the clinical setting and to develop a theoretical background for clinical practice. This study is to de-scribe and define the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer in order to provide a foundation for nursing research and education. Data collection has been done between December 1993 and November 1994. The subjects included five persons -four females and one male : one who was in her sixties, one in his fifties, two in their forties, and one who was in her thirties. The researcher has met with these patients 35 times, but at eight times the patient was in a stuporous condition and not able to participate, so these were not included in the data analysis. Parse's "Human Becoming Methodology", an existential phenomenological research methodology is used for this study. Data has been collected using he dialogical engagement process of "I and You", the participant researcher and the participant subject. Dialogical engagement was discontinued when the data was theoretically saturated. Data was analyzed using the extraction - synthesis and heuristic interpretation. The criteria of Guba and Lincoln(1985). and Sandelo wski(1986) : credibility, auditability, fitness and objectivity were used to test the validity and reliability of the data. The following is a description of the structure of the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer as defined by this study : 1. Structure : 1) Suffering through the reminiscence of past experience 2) The appearance of complex emotions related to life and connectedness 3) The increasing importance of significant people and of the Absolute Being 4) The increasing realization of the importance of health and belief 5) Desire for a return to health and a peaceful life or for acceptance of dying and a comfortable death In summary the structure of the lived experience of these patients can be said to be : suffering comes through reminiscence of past experience, and there are complex emotions related to life and connectedness. Significant people and the Absolute Being become increasingly important along with a realization of the importance of health and faith. And finally there is a desire for either a return to health and a peaceful life or for the acceptance of dying and a comfortable death. 2. Heuristic Interpretation : Using Parse's Human Becoming Methodology, the structure of the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer identified in this research is interpreted as. The lived experience of patients with terminal cancer involves the solving of past conflicts, and the experience of the healing and valuing of sorrow and pain. Through the relation of life and health, and the complex emotions that arise, the lived experience of revealing - concealing is of paradoxical emotions. The increasing importance of significant others and of the Absolute Being shows Connecting and Separating an on- going process of nearness and farness. Revision of thoughts about health and faith is interpreted as transforming and desire for restoration to health and a peaceful life or acceptance of dying and a cowfortable death, as powering. In summary, it is possible to see, in the lived experience of patients with terminal cancer, the relationship of the five concepts of Parse's theory : valuing, revealing -concealing, connecting-separating, transforming, and powering. From Parse's theory, the results of this study show that meaning is related to valuing, rhythmicity to revealing-concealing and connect-ing-separating, and cotranscendence to transforming and powering.

Human error has brought about accidents more than 50% in system of a large size and complicated expecially in nuclear power plants(NPPs). The technology of Man Machine Interface(MMI) has been changed to the digitalized controls employing computer-based technology. According to this trend. the human factors guidelines are becoming main issue for reliable supports to digitalized information displays. However. the existing human factors guidelines is not enough for advanced information display on NPPs. The purpose of this research is to develop the reliable design and evaluation guidelines for advanced information display in main control room (MCR) of NPPs. In this study. the various general human factors guidelines concerning information display on CRT are integrated on data base management system. unified based on the integration rules. and applied in computer based procedures. The use of the integrated guidelines are expected to evaluate the existing information display on MCR in NPPs from the human factors point of view.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the reconstruction experience of mothers who had recently experienced a late-school age daughter's menarche by utilizing a hermeneutic phenomenological research methodology based on Parse's human becoming theory. Data were collected using purposive and snowball sampling methods to recruit the mothers of elementary fifth- and sixth-grade girls recently experiencing menarche. The data were analyzed using Parse's research methodology. As a result, the mothers' experiences appeared as "the process of reconstructing the menarche-related values created by themselves by facing the child's menarche experiences and related responses along with the change of era." The key concepts of there construction experiences of the mothers were "experiencing an ambivalent feeling of pity and pride," "celebrating her instead of expressing concerns," "giving a traditional lesson of protecting oneself to a new generation," and "feeling empathy as a woman and also alienation due to the generational gap." These findings reveal the important roles and competencies of community and school nurses in terms of achieving a healthy and positive reconstruction experience for mothers and their daughters. Also, it is necessary to develop educational programs for mothers who are about to encounter their daughters' menarche.
