A Study on the Present Stage of Children's Services of Public Libraries in Korea (공공도서관 어린이 서비스의 현황 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the present stage of children's services of public library in Korea. Data were collected from 171 public libraries and analysed according to five aspects of library services; physical aspect, collection, human resources, user services, and management and program. The results shows that budget, human resources for children's services should be increased and every local library authority should be on an active and effective way to services.

  • 인권 시소러스는 인권 관련 색인어 작성시 특정성 및 일관성을 유지하고, 다양한 이용자 계층의 정보 검색의 효율성을 증진시키고자 하는 일반적인 목적과 함께, 모호하게 사용되고 있는 인권 용어의 개념화를 통해 전문가 뿐 아니라 일반인들도 손쉽게 인권 전문정보에 접근할 수 있는 토대를 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 인권 관련어로 유의미하게 사용되는 용어군을 수집한 후 실험대상군을 설정하여 어느 정도의 관련성을 가지는가를 실험한 것이다.

Legal Issues In Information Management (정보관리와 관련된 법적문제)

  • Libraries and information centers are no different from any other institutions in our society. Today, their managers have to make many more decisions which have certain legal implications than before. The ignorance of the law on their parts can not be an acceptable excuse anymore, since. the consequences sometimes maybe quite serious. This paper outlines some important legal issues involved in the services and management of libraries and information centers. They are: constitutional rights on human knowledge activities: library act and it's related laws; censorship and right to know; information access and the protection of privacy: library services and copyright law; labor relations; protections of the people and properties of the institutions, etc. The laws are not static: rather, they change with the social, political and technological environments. The managers, as well as the staff members of libraries and information centers should be constantly updated with the changes in the field, in order to give the maximum service to the clients and to prevent any infringement of the laws, which may discredit their services and the institutions.

  • This study aims at examining how academic library staffs' service quality affects the user satisfaction and continuance intention, and also seeking practical solutions for improving the satisfaction and continuance intention in academic libraries. Despite the value and importance of human-mediated library services which enable various library services to be more valuable, relatively few prior studies focuses on this topic. This study develops a conceptual framework based on the concepts of service quality, satisfaction, and continuance intention. This framework provides a useful guideline for data collection and data analyses. Values of this study include ensuring the continuance intention by suggesting strategies that may increase users' positive attitude toward human-mediated services in academic libraries, and methodologically, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Analyses of Public Library User Experiences using Customer Experience Management (CEM) Perspective: Focused a Public Library in Goyang City (고객 경험 관리(CEM)를 활용한 공공도서관의 이용자 경험 분석 - 고양시립도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to analyze communication and experiences between public libraries and to identify these factors affect user satisfaction. Customer experience management (CEM), which is currently used in various fields of management and marketing, was applied to segment and analyze user experiences. After reviewing CEM research in marketing and management to derive user experience points, set physical environment, human factors, communication, and service as independent variables, emotional pleasure as parameters, and user satisfaction as dependent variables. Based on this, questionnaire items were constructed. The survey method was conducted in two ways, online and offline (face-to-face), and statistical analysis was performed based on a total of 60 questionnaires collected. The results indicate the higher the user's experience with the physical environment and convenience, the higher the satisfaction level, but library accessibility had no significant effect. In addition, library staff attitude and problem-solving ability had a great influence on user satisfaction, and problem-solving ability had a more important influence than kindness and emotional pleasure was found to have an mediating effect.

  • DLS(Digital Library System) have been established by Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development for providing the application services to each school library managers(teacher librarian) and front end users such as students and teachers. DLS's are separately operated by 15 major metropolitan or provincial office of education to cover all elementary, middle and high schools in Korea. There is a necessity which it will analyze the current status of DLS because it's system after starting a service 2 years passed. This study suggested to improvements strategies of DLS by survey from teacher librarian, subject teacher, students of 308 schools.

  • 휴먼라이브러리는 사람이 정보자료원이 되는 신개념의 도서관서비스이다. 최근 들어서는 기업 및 공공 민간단체에서도 이벤트와 프로그램 등 다양한 형태로 급속하게 파급되고 있다. 국내에서는 노원 정보도서관이 상설로서는 최초로 2012년부터 운영하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 노원정보도서관의 노원 휴먼라이브러리를 중심으로 공공도서관의 휴먼라이브러리를 연구하고자 한다. 또한 휴먼라이브러리를 개혁으로 보고 개혁확산이론을 적용하여 노원휴먼라이브러리의 현황과 추이를 분석해보았다. 이를 바탕으로 휴먼라이브러리의 확산에 있어서 질적 향상에 이바지하고자 한다.

  • The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development is propelling the establishment project of IBSLIS, Internet-based School library Information System for prepares a foundation of resource sharing and inter-school library loan, to improvement of DB construction's efficiency and to reduces a maintenance's burden of local information system. There is a necessity which it will evaluate demonstrative operating IBSLIS system for maximize to educational effect and to establish efficiently.   • 정보기술을 이용하면 도서관의 종이자료가 전자자료로 바뀌면서 기계화 되므로 문헌봉사는 비사서가 하게 되거나 이용자들이 손수봉사(Self-serveice) 하게 된다. 전문 사서는 인간을 대상으로 봉사하게 되므로 인간관계가 중요하게 대두된다. 도서관의 인간관계는 합리적이고 사무적이며 협동하게 되나 상호작용보다는 커뮤니케이션이 강조된다.

  • This study examines policy issues for the future development of libraries belonging to the metropolitan office of education focusing on facilities (legal basis for installation), management (dedicated department), human resources and budget. This study collected and analyzed related data using National Law Information Center and National Library Statistics System. As a result of this study, the names of the libraries performing library functions varied due to the difference of the administrative organizations of the libraries in the metropolitan education office. In addition, library policy work carried out by the library department may be excluded from policy priorities as a subsidiary task. It is analyzed that the expansion of quota of the librarian deputy director to provide the opportunity for promotion of librarians and the increase of the library input budget against the total budget are necessary.
