  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a robot that moves independently, communicates with a human, and explicitly extracts information from the human mind that is rarely expressed verbally. In a spoken dialog system for information collection, it is desirable to continue communicating with the user as long as possible, but not if the user does not wish to communicate. Therefore, the system should be able to terminate the communication before the user starts to object to using it. In this paper, to enable the construction of a decision model for a system to decide when to stop communicating with a human, we acquired speech and motion data from individuals who were asked many questions by another person. We then analyze their speech and body motion when they do not mind answering the questions, and also when they wish the questioning to cease. From the results, we can identify differences in speech power, length of pauses, speech rate, and body motion.

Deep learning-based Human Action Recognition Technique Considering the Spatio-Temporal Relationship of Joints (관절의 시·공간적 관계를 고려한 딥러닝 기반의 행동인식 기법)

  • Since human joints can be used as useful information for analyzing human behavior as a component of the human body, many studies have been conducted on human action recognition using joint information. However, it is a very complex problem to recognize human action that changes every moment using only each independent joint information. Therefore, an additional information extraction method to be used for learning and an algorithm that considers the current state based on the past state are needed. In this paper, we propose a human action recognition technique considering the positional relationship of connected joints and the change of the position of each joint over time. Using the pre-trained joint extraction model, position information of each joint is obtained, and bone information is extracted using the difference vector between the connected joints. In addition, a simplified neural network is constructed according to the two types of inputs, and spatio-temporal features are extracted by adding LSTM. As a result of the experiment using a dataset consisting of 9 behaviors, it was confirmed that when the action recognition accuracy was measured considering the temporal and spatial relationship features of each joint, it showed superior performance compared to the result using only single joint information.

  • The objective of this research is to identify the process of knowledge transfer and to examine the effect of IT human capability on knowledge transfer in information systems outsourcing. Through a field survey, it is found that clients' IT human capability significantly affects on cooperative learning with vendors and knowledge transfer from vendors to clients. The survey also shows that clients' trust with vendors indirectly enhances the knowledge transfer by increasing the cooperative learning. This study provides a solution of knowledge transfer problem in information systems outsourcing. Also it brings out issues that can be accrued in the outsourcing situation, such as clients' dependency on vendors and knowledge asymmetries developed in favor of the vendors. These issues should be topics for future research on information systems outsourcing.

Real-Time Tracking of Human Location and Motion using Cameras in a Ubiquitous Smart Home

  • The ubiquitous smart home is the home of the future, which exploits context information from both the human and the home environment, providing an automatic home service for the human. Human location and motion are the most important contexts in the ubiquitous smart home. In this paper, we present a real-time human tracker that predicts human location and motion for the ubiquitous smart home. The system uses four network cameras for real-time human tracking. This paper explains the architecture of the real-time human tracker, and proposes an algorithm for predicting human location and motion. To detect human location, three kinds of images are used: $IMAGE_1$ - empty room image, $IMAGE_2$ - image of furniture and home appliances, $IMAGE_3$ - image of $IMAGE_2$ and the human. The real-time human tracker decides which specific furniture or home appliance the human is associated with, via analysis of three images, and predicts human motion using a support vector machine (SVM). The performance experiment of the human's location, which uses three images, lasted an average of 0.037 seconds. The SVM feature of human motion recognition is decided from the pixel number by the array line of the moving object. We evaluated each motion 1,000 times. The average accuracy of all types of motion was 86.5%.

  • This thesis is analysing localization of human resources recruitment in the overseas investment of the Korean firms. The main results of the analysis can be summarized as follows: first, Korean overseas local corporations have achieved localization for physical workers. But localization above middle manager level is very poor. Second, local corporations are managed by the employee from Korean parent company. Third, parent company mentioned language ability, work process ability of local business, responsibility, leadership as selection basis for the workers in overseas local corporations. Localization propel strategy of local corporation human resources recruiting : (1) human resources recruiting strategy is the strategy of outsider. simple global human resources recruiting strategy is the recruiting of person dispatched from headquarter rather than local human resources (2) human resources recruiting strategy is the strategy of multidomestication. multidomestication human resources recruiting strategy is the strategy to use in case of stabilization in local area.

KBUD: The Korea Brain UniGene Database

  • Human brain EST data provide important clues for our understanding of the molecular biology associated with the function of the normal brain and the molecular pathophysiology with brain disorders. To systematically and efficiently study the function and disorders of the human brain, 45,773 human brain ESTs were collected from 27 human brain cDNA libraries, which were constructed from normal brains and brain disorders such as brain tumors, Parkinson's disease (PO) and epilepsy. An analysis of 45,773 human brain ESTs using our EST analysis pipeline resulted in 38,396 high-quality ESTs and 35,906 ESTs, which were coalesced into 8,246 unique gene clusters, showing a significant similarity to known genes in the human RefSeq, human mRNAs and UniGene database. In addition, among 8,246 gene clusters, 4,287 genes ($52\%$) were found to contain full-length cONA clones. To facilitate the extraction of useful information in collected these human brain ESTs, we developed a user-friendly interface system, the Korea Brain Unigene Database (KBUD). The KBUD web interface allows access to our human brain data through three major search modes, the BioCarta pathway, keywords and BLAST searches. Each result when viewed in KBUD offers comprehensive information concerning the analyzed human brain ESTs provided by our data as well as data linked to various other publiC databases. The user-friendly developed KBUD, the first world-wide web interface for human brain EST data with ESTs of human brain disorders as well as normal brains, will be a helpful system for developing a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the normal brain well as brain disorders.   • Non-verbal information plays an important role not only in human-to-human communications but also in human computer interaction. In this paper, we examine effects of human-like agent's primitive movements on user's impression, where the human-like agent's primitive movements include eye, mouth, and head. SD (Semantic Differential) method was used for evaluation, and two factors were extracted as a result of the factor analysis. It is found that the first factor influenced the user's impression particularly.

Road Traffic Control Gesture Recognition using Depth Images

  • This paper presents a system used to automatically recognize the road traffic control gestures of police officers. In this approach,the control gestures of traffic police officers are captured in the form of depth images.A human skeleton is then constructed using a kinematic model. The feature vector describing a traffic control gesture is built from the relative angles found amongst the joints of the constructed human skeleton. We utilize Support Vector Machines (SVMs) to perform the gesture recognition. Experiments show that our proposed method is robust and efficient and is suitable for real-time application. We also present a testbed system based on the SVMs trained data for real-time traffic gesture recognition.

  • This paper attempts to develop a framework for interrelationships among human resources information systems (HRIS), outsourcing, and corporate culture. This research investigates impacts of outsourcing HRIS on corporate culture. In this paper, we hypothesize that outsourcing corporate HRIS is less appealing (1) if the quality of product and customer service matters for a firm, (2) if a firm is concerned with a loss of intellectual property, and (3) if a firm requires maintenance of a distinctive human resource service function that is capable of meeting the challenges of fast changing customer demands in a dynamic business environment. In addition, this study argues companies must be aware of the total costs associated with HRIS before outsourcing its human resource functions. Finally, the impact on employee morale and performance must also be considered By outsourcing HRIS, managers will be able to spend more time and resources dedicated to an employee's professional career development.
