Cultivation condition of yeast on the utilization of fermentable substrate from the cellulosic wastes such as rice hull, rice straw and corn starch cake was investigated. The results obtained were summarized as follows;1. Corn starch cake was respectively added to rice hull and rice straw in order to increase sugar concentration in the hydrolyzate, and then hydrolyzed. As the result, concentration of sugar in hydrolyzed solution of rice hull was 9.12%, in that of rice straw was 7.98%. 2. It was found that calcium carbonate as a neutralizer was the most effective to prepare the culture broth of yeast. 3. An optimal growth of Hansenula subpelliculosa GFY-2 was observed in the medium prepared by adding 0.3% of ammonium sulfate, 0.4% of potassium phosphate dibasic, 0.02% of magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride and calcium chloride to hydrolyaed sugar solution, respectively. 4. Hansenula subpellicuiosa GFY-2 cultured in the substrate solution which of rice hull and rice straw added to corn starch cake was assimilated more than 90% of sugar in the hydrolyzate within 48 hours. The yeast cells yielded in rice hull was 46.5%, and that of rice straw 45.4% to utilized sugars.

When a geometric modeling of a hull form for ship design and hull production is done, a hull fairing is a tedious process which wastes a lot of time, but it is unavoidable because hull consist of the sculptured surfaces. This paper presents the mathematical method of the direct fairing to overcome the tediousness of cross fairing. Bi-cubic B-spline surface description was adopted for the representation of the hull surface. The fairing process was executed by minimizing the strain energy in a shell plate. The color-encoded Gaussian curvature and strain energy were visualized on the screen to illustrate the fairness of the surface. The geometric information generated from the faired hull surface model was interfaced with the basic design calculation package and the hull production system.
High salt content in food waste limit use as the potential source of compost. Since sodium chloride content should be lower than one percent to meet requirement for agricultural use of compost, we attempted use of three kinds of co-composting material for food wastes compost, which were fermented, dried, and fresh types of amendments which included pig manure, sawdust and puffed rice hull. Food wastes were composted well and stabilized after around the 40th days of composting. Little difference were found between composts amended sawdust and puffed rice hull. The result indicated that puffed rice hull could be used as a good alternative of sawdust. Because sawdust or puffed rice hull were mixed as amendments to control water contents and to dilute high NaCl content of compost material, the C/N ratios of the final products were significantly high over 40. However, NaCl contents of final products were dropped to less than percent on the fresh weight basis by mixing food wastes and the above amendments with the optimum rates.
This study was carried out to investigate the mycelial growth and density of Laos oyster mushroom treated straw, rice hull, mixture rate of straw and rice hull and beer wastes respectively. In case of straw 70%, rice hull 40%, 50%, straw and rice hull 4 : 6, soil type and yeast type of Laos beer wastes mixture, the mycelial growth and density are the best respectively.

The electrochemical behaviors of 10 g-scale fresh and oxidized Zircaloy-4 cladding hulls were examined in $500^{\circ}C$ LiCl-KCl molten salts to confirm the feasibility of the electrorefining process for the treatment of hull wastes. In the results of measuring the potential-current response using a stainless steel basket filled with oxidized Zircaloy-4 hull specimens, the oxidation peak of Zr appears to be at -0.7 to -0.8 V vs. Ag/AgCl, which is similar to that of fresh Zircaloy-4 hulls, while the oxidation current is found to be much smaller than that of fresh Zircaloy-4 hulls. These results are congruent with the outcome of current-time curves at -0.78 V and of measuring the change in the average weight and thickness after the electrochemical dissolution process. Although the oxide layer on the surface affects the uniformity and rate of dissolution by decreasing the conductivity of Zircaloy-4 hulls, electrochemical dissolution is considered to occur owing to the defect of the surface and phase properties of the Zr oxide layer.
Protein content of cellulosic wastes, such as spent grain, hop bark, spent rye, rice straw, rice hull, saw dust and used newspaper, was increased by a mixed culture of C. utilis wastes having 66-75% moisture. Among the fungal strains tested. A.phoenicis KU175 was the most powerful to increase the protein content of A. phoenicis during the mixed culture with C. utilis in the CMC medium reached at the peak for one day culture after inoculation of the both strains at the same time, while it reached at peark from the beginning of the mixed culture, when A. phoenicis was inocultated for 12-24hours prior to the inoculation of C.utilis. To increase the protein content of the cellulosic wastes by the mixed culture of C.utilis and A.phoenicis, the inoculation of both strains at the same time was more effective than the preinoculation of A. phoenicis for 6-24 hours. Content of crude cellulose in the used newspaper, saw dust and spent grain was high relatively, and the lignin content of spent grain, spent rye, and rice strew was reduced more than half by the treatment of 2% NaOH. However, effect of alkali treatment of increase the protein content of the cellulosic wastes was not prominent in the case of mixed culture. Protein content of the cellulosic wastes was increased prominently by the mixed culture of C.utilis and A.phoenicis in semi-solid substrate, compared with the single culture of C. utilis, although the latter increased the protein content of cellulosic wastes considerably. The effect of mixed culture of C. utilis and A. phoenicis increased 4-fold the protein content of spent grain, and more than doubled crude protein in hop bark and rice straw.
The effects of the processing mixture of pig manure and various organic wastes on the growth, cast production of earthworm, and conversion of organic matter to earthworm tissues by vermicomposting. The substances used in this experiments were sawdust, rice hull, coffee waste, brewery waste, litters, turfgrass cutting residues, rice bran, vegetable wastes and rice straw and were mixed with pig manure at a ratios of 50:50 (v/v), and pig manure 100% (control), respectively. The highest values of growth parameters, cast production and conversion efficiency of organic matter to earthworm tissues were obtained at the mixtures of pig manure with coffee waste, it may due to the favourable diet conditions to process with pig manure by vermicomposting. But, all of the earthworm died in the pig manure 100% (control) and pig manure with vegetable wastes treatments by vermicomposting was impossible in this experiment. The vermicast contained a higher values of total nitrogen, available phosphorus, exchangeable cations and cation exchange capacity than their parent materials with increased availability of nutrients and improved physicochemical properties.
The effect of the addition of various vegetable oils on the mycelial growth was studied. Most vegetable oils were proved to be stimulative for the mycelial growth, and the best mycelial growth (12 mg/ml) was obtained with the addition of cotton seed oil. Several agricultural wastes i.e., rice straw, peanut hull, sawdust, rice hull, cocoa hull, coffee waste and beer waste were empolyed as substrates for sporophore production of p. sajor-caju. The biological efficiency(BE) for sporophore productions of rice straw and peanut hull were 36.4% and 32.6%, respectively. The highest yield of sporophore was obtained from the mixture of rice straw (50%) and beer waste (50%)(BE 109.6%) followed by peanut hull (50%) and beer waste (50%)(BE; 74.5%).
