The purpose of the study was to investigate the characteristics and economic status of deficit households compared to surplus households. Data from The Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2005 by NSO and 50, 207 salary/wage earners' households were used for the analysis. The statistical methods used were GLM, logit, and cluster analyses. The analysis results showed that 25.3 percent of the households were deficit households. Approximately half of the lowest 20% income group were deficit households. Income deficit households earned 1, 273 thousand less than that of surplus households, whereas consumption of deficit households was 1, 006 thousand more than that of surplus households. The average propensity of consumption of deficit households was 142.1. According to the logit analysis, factors contributing to the probability of belonging to a deficit household included income level, household size, age and educational level, occupation, homeownership, car ownership, and wife's employment status. Deficit households were classified into 5 types: 1) health care expenditure-dominated group, 2) housing expenditure-dominated group, 3) education expenditure-dominated group, 4) money transfer-dominated group, and 5) overall-overconsumption group. The overall-overconsumption group was the largest group of all at 58.5%. It was found that for all five groups, the changes in household size, income group, home ownership, and occupation of the individual were variables that influenced the probability of belonging to a certain group.

This study examines household expenditure patterns for single-parent families to better understand the decision-making process and to consider the appropriateness of the decisions on monetary allocation. This study investigates the household expenditure patterns and the determinants of expenditure patterns for single-father families as compared to those for single-mother families. A series of analyses of the data, which was gathered from the 2015 Single-parent Family Survey on household expenditures, were conducted. The results show that there are differences in the household expenditure volumes and patterns between single-father families and single-mother families. Differences in the categories of expenditure and variations in the share that was allocated for each expenditure category in single-father families as compared to in single-mother families were both statistically significant. Disparities were found in seven categories of household expenditure between single-father families and single-mother families. The amount allocated from total expenditures for each expenditure category was also significantly different between single-father families and single-mother families in regards to clothing, home equipment, housing, water/light/heat costs, transportation, and telecommunication. The determinants of the total household expenditure for single-parent families were age, level of education, number of family members, public transfer, household income, assets, and debt.

Purpose : As the population aging deepens, the number of elderly people with arthritis is also continuously increasing. Accordingly, this study intended to identify the factors influencing the health-related quality of life (HINT-8) of the elderly with arthritis according to household type and provide baseline data for developing a measure to enhance the life quality of the elderly with arthritis. Methods : The factors influencing the health-related quality of life (HINT-8) of the elderly with arthritis were identified based on the raw data from the Korea national health and nutrition examination survey conducted in 2021. Data were analyzed with SPSS Statistics ver 25.0 for windows (IBM Corp), and the significance level (α) was set to .05. Statistical analysis was performed with t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, and post-hoc analysis with Duncan test. Results : The factors that influenced the health-related quality of life (HINT-8) of single-households were medical aid (β=-.17, p=.045), restriction of activity (β=-.17, p=.023), self-rated health status (β=.29, p<.001), and anxiety scale (β=-.36, p<.001). The factors that influenced the health-related quality of life (HINT-8) of multi-households were an age of 75 or over (β=-.14, p=.011), living in rural (β=-.14, p=.003), the outpatient department treatment experience (β=-.09, p=.047), self-rated health status (β=.26, p<.001), anxiety scale (β=-.29, p<.001), and stress (β=-.22, p<.001). Conclusion : Factors affecting the health-related quality of life (HINT-8) of the elderly with arthritis were found to be different between single-person households and multi-person household. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare measures to improve the quality of life of the elderly with arthritis by considering the factors influencing the health-related quality of life (HINT-8) of the elderly with arthritis according to the household type identified in this study.
The purpose of this study is to examine the association between household income and depressive symptoms and the interactive effect of niacin intake and household income on depressive symptoms among older Korean adults. The sample was drawn from the seventh wave of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) conducted in 2016. Two-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted to test an interaction between Niacin intake and household income on depressive symptoms. A significant interaction effect of niacin intake and household income was found in the highest income group, those with insufficient intake of niacin tended to have higher levels of depressive symptoms than those with sufficient intake of niacin. Findings suggest that the relationship between niacin intake and depressive symptoms differs by household income levels among Korean older adults. Future intervention strategies for increasing niacin intake are discussed in sociocultural context as a way to reduce depressive symptoms among older adults.
This study shows the results of constructing panel data using Farm Household survey and presents some examples of empirical application. This study shows that ex post constructed panel data using repeated cross-sectional survey can be used in various dynamic analyses. This paper also shows that the well known difficult problem of longitudinal weights can be easily solved by using the existing cross-sectional weights in original cross-section data. Based on these results, we propose that the National Statistical Office not only try to construct panel data, but also construct panel data by using existing repeated cross-section data. The benefits of this approach seems to be very big in establishment survey.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the attitude of urban homemakers toward household work. The data in this study are obtained from a survey by means of a questionnaire to 174 homemakers in Chuncheon. Frequency, percent, F-test and t-test were applied for the statistical analysis and following results were found. 1) Respondents expressed slightly favorable attitudes toward household work and attitudes varied among the work and attitudes varied among the work activities. 2) The variables affecting the attitude were the age, educational level of homemakers, and the family structure.

This study analyzed the differences in household debt characteristics by wealth levels. The dataset used was the 2000 National Survey of Family Income and Expenditure. The major findings of this study were as follows; First, about 49% of sample owned some amounts of debt. Household in high wealth levels had lowest debt burden while households in low wealth level had highest debt burden. Second, the amounts of debt owed to financial agents were highest regardless of wealth levels. Third, all groups borrowed money for the purpose of purchasing real estate.
In this research a questionary survey was implemented to investigate how elementary school students in $3^{rd}-6^{th}$ grade understood articles or terminology using electromagnetic wave technology in contemporary culture. Also, part of students who had participated in questionnaire survey was interviewed 2 times for each 20 minute personally to investigate students' perceptions about some household articles in their every day life using electromagnetic wave technology. As a result, first, elementary school students had pretty higher perceptions of the artificial satellite provided in their curriculum and the technology of electromagnetic wave released from cartoons, computer games or advertisements. Second, because they were concerned about appearances of household articles, they perceived some household articles in their every day life with conceptions of electricity or visual mechanism.
Unit non-response of surveys reduces the efficiency of the estimates and also causes non-response bias especially when there is large difference between respondents and non-respondents. Non-response weighting adjustments have usually been used to compensate for non-response. It is not easy to examine the non-response bias as well as to obtain information on the non-respondents in sample surveys. A household panel survey, called The Survey of Household Finances, was conducted in both 2010 and 2011. In this paper, we assume that non-response households in Wave 2 have strong non-response (non-cooperative) tendency. We classify those households into non-response households in Wave 1. Under this assumption, the characteristics of non-response households, the non-response bias and the effect of non-response adjustments are investigated.

The relationship between household attributes and trip generation can only be found in Seoul Metropolitan Household Travel Survey, which has been implemented every 5 years. However, various household attributes' impact on trip generation has not been analyzed closely. This paper compared and analyzed those impact. The results could be useful when trip generation models are studied in the future. They are as follows. The household size should be an important classification criteria when household trip generation is estimated. The traditional assumption that the relationship between household auto ownership and trip generation is positive and linear correlation should be reconsidered. Weekday travel data only did not showed that housing type has an influence on trip generation. Household income is unrelated with trip generation among single-person household, while multi-person household is related strongly. However, when trips are classified by purpose, impact of household income on trip generation are varied by trip purpose. Especially, the increase in single-person household can not be overlooked when trip generation is forecasted.
