메탈 핼라이드 램프의 순시 재점등을 위한 점화기 개발 (The Ignitor Development for Momentary Restarting of Metal Halide Lamps)

  • The most of metalhalide lamps is what the momentary restarting cannot be realized when the arc tube is in the hot condition. The discharge starting voltage of arc tube in the hot condition is much higher than in the cold condition in proportion to the gaseous pressure. Therefore it takes about ten minutes to restart the metal Halide lamps, that is to say, it is possible to start when the pressure and the temperature are decreased. But, if the lamp is restarted in the hot condition, we must supply the high voltage pulse with 15kV between the both electrodes of lamp. The proposed ignitor has two ignitors. If we connect each ignitor at the both sides, the high voltages of two different frequencies are generated. If so, when the one of the ignitor generates the highest voltage and the other applied to elecrodes of the lamp. In this way, we can restart the lamp with the voltage 15kV, even if the lamp is in the hot condition.

  • The most shortcoming of metalhalide lamps is what the instant restarting cannot be realized when the arc tube is in the hot condition. The discharge starting voltage of arc tube in the hot condition is much higher than in the cold condition. Therefore it takes about five minutes to restart the metalhalide lamps, that is to say, it is possible to start when the pressure and the temperature are decreased. But, if the lamp is restarted in the hot condition, we must supply the high voltage pulse with 20kV at the both sides of lamp. The proposed electronic ballast is consist of a electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter, a power factor correction (PFC) circuit, a flyback converter, a half-bridge inverter, and a high voltage igniter circuit. By this composition we can restart the lamp with the voltage 20kV, even if the lamp is in the hot condition.

  • Engine-out HC emissions were investigated during engine start. The tests were conducted on a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, multipoint-port-fuel-injection gasoline engine at different coolant temperatures and fuel injection-skip methods; no skip, 1 cycle-skip and 3 cycle-skip. To understand the characteristics of engine-out HC emissions, HC concentration was measured at a exhaust port using a Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector (FRFID). The result show that HC emissions were emitted at the cold coolant temperature much higher than those of the hot coolant. In additions, the fuel injection skip highly reduced engine-out HC emissions. It is convinced that optimized fuel injection skips according to coolant temperatures could be applied to reduce HC emissions during SI engine start.

Investigation of candidated genes for molecular characterization of DongGyeong dog populations (Gyeongju)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the characters of short-tailed dogs (DongGyeong dogs) with anatomical insights, molecular genetics in Gyeongju. The present study was conducted to further characterize of short-tailed dog population in Gyeongju. The short-tailed dog was analyzed in the distribution of 55 individual. The anatomical insights were by x-ray. For discovery of specific genes expressions were measured by Hot-start PCR analysis. Anatomy survey, the number of vertebral typical consists of more than 20. 88.9% of short-tailed dog populations consists of 3-8 vertebrates. The 54 individuals of the 47 observe the vestigial tailed of the sacrum. No detected sacrococcygeal vertebrae degradation individuals were malformation defects. The 3 genes were DEGs (differentially expressed genes) in Dong-Gyeong dogs. We succeeded in finding 3 novel DongGyeong dogs specific genes by using Hot-start PCR analysis, this study suggests that these novel genes may play role (s) in DongGyeong dogs.

변형된 삼원촉매에 의한 저온시동조건에서의 메탄올엔진 배가스 정화효과에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Emission control of methanol engine exhaust with modified 3-way catalyst at cold start condition)

  • As the major methanol fueled vehicle exhaust components, formaldehyde & methanol conversion over the existing commercial 3-way catalyst was examined in a labolatory tains different Ag loadings on commercial 3-way catalyst, and german commercial catalysts for methanol engine exhaust manufactured by a commercial manufacturer. Silver catalysts were prepared by the wet impregnation of silver nitrate solution on commercial 3-way catalyst. These catalysts were characterized with BET Surface area and pore size distribution. In general, the formaldehyde(HCHO) conversion of the tested catalysts was similar to that of methanol$(CH_3OH)$. At 100$^\circ$C, which is equivalent to the cold start condition, 5wt% Ag cat. showed the most excellent HCHO and $CH_3OH$ conversion. The order of activity for conversion of HCHO & $CH_3OH$ to carbon dioxide and water vapor was as follows ; 5wt% Ag/3-way cat.>2wt% Ag/3-way cat.>german cat. front(1) > german cat. rear(2) > 10wt% Ag/3-way cat.> commercial 3-wat catalyst. However there was no significant activity difference between those tested catalysts in the hot run condition of 400$^\circ$C. Therefore, it could be concluded that the Ag-modified 3-way catalyst was the most effective and practical catalyst system which could be capable of removal the HCHO and methanol at the special condition of low temperature such as cold start condition.

  • 최근 폭발적으로 증가하는 사용자 데이터가 클라우드에 저장됨에 따라 고품질의 일관된 성능으로 클라우드 스토리지 서비스를 제공하는 것이 더욱 더 중요해지고 있다. 하지만 클라우드 관리를 위한 가상머신 이주(migration)로 인해 스토리지 서비스의 품질이 저하될 수 있다. 특히 플래시 캐시를 사용하는 환경에서는 가상머신 이주가 실행 될 경우 기존 서버에 예열된 캐시를 잃고 새로운 머신에서 콜드 스타트하는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문은 위의 문제를 해결하기 위해 가상머신 이주로 인한 캐시의 콜드 스타트 문제를 시연 및 분석하고 플래시 캐시의 효율적인 핫 스타트를 수행하는 캐시미어 기법을 제안한다.

나트륨 히트파이프의 작동 특성 및 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Operational Characteristics and Performance of the Sodium Heat Pipe)

  • The experimental study for an operational characteristics and performance of the sodium heat pipe were carried out. For an experiment. the heat pipe which is 1000mm length and 25.4mm diameter of stainless steel container with 50 mesh of screen wick using sodium as a working fluid is manufactured and tested as functions of heat flow rate, inclined angle and operating temperature. The test results are as follows. During the start-up. frontal start up was observed because of the vapor density increasing as increased the hot zone. Also, the heat pipe showed uniform temperature over than $420^{\circ}C$ of the operating temperature. The average heat transfer coefficient increased as the heat flux and the vapor temperature increase, and the range of the total thermal resistance was 0.075-0.04 $^{\circ}C/W$ at the 12-53.55 $kW/m^2$ of heat flux and $500-750^{\circ}C$of operating temperature. The maximum heat flow rate was 750W at the 10 degree of top heating mode.

  • In this study, the nano-particle emitted from Gasoline Direct Injection(GDI) vehicles was measured using the Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer(EEPS) on a chassis dynamometer. In addition, driving mode were divided into cold start mode(CVS-75, NEDC) and hot start mode(NIER-6, NIER-9) to evaluated the characteristics in the various operating conditions. The Particle Number(PN) concentration was analyzed for various driving patterns, i.e., acceleration, deceleration, idling, cruising and the phases of mode. In a result, Total concentration of PN for size was concentrated from 50 to 100 nm and acceleration represents the highest concentration among the driving pattern. It is believed that the increases quantity of fuel, and mixture will be richer than other patterns.

  • 호주의 HyShot Center와의 공동연구를 통한 모델 스크램제트 엔진의 지상시험 수행을 위해 홉입구의 설계를 수행하였다. 본 흡입구는 연소기로 고온, 저속의 유동을 공급하는 방향으로 설계되었으며 Korkegi 관계식에 따라 충격파 결집구간을 분리함으로써 유동 박리현상을 차단하였다. 또한 Kantrowitz 관계식에 근거하여 자발시동이 가능하도록 흡입구 측면의 트임구간을 설정하였다.

  • As the environmental pollution becomes serious global problem, the regulation of emission exhausted from automobiles is strengthen. Therefore, it is very important to know how to reduce the NOx and PM simultaneously in diesel engines, which has lot of merits such as high thermal efficiency, low fuel consumption and durability. By this reason, the new concept called as Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition(HCCI) engines are spotlighted because this concept reduced NOx and P.M. simultaneously. However, it is well known that HCCI engines increased HC and CO. Thus, the investigation of combustion characteristics which consists cool and hot flames for HCCI engines were needed to obtain the optimal combustion condition. In this study, combustion characteristics for direct inject type HCCI engine such as quantity of cool flame and hot flame, ignition timing and ignition delay were investigated to clarify the effects of these parameters on performance. The results revealed that diesel combustion showed the two-stage ignition of cool flame and hot flame, the rate of cool flame increase and hot flame decrease with increasing intake air temperature. On the other hand, the gasoline combustion is the single-stage ignition and ignition timing is near the TDC. In addition mixed fuel combustion showed different phenomenon, which depends on the ratio of gasoline component. Ignition timing of mixed fuel is retarded near the TDC and the ignition delay is increased according to ratio of gasoline.
