Inelastic distortional buckling of hot-rolled I-section beam-columns

  • The inelastic lateral-distortional buckling of doubly-symmetric hot-rolled I-section beam-columns subjected to a concentric axial force and uniform bending with elastic restraint which produce single curvature is investigated in this paper. The numerical model adopted in this paper is an energy-based method which leads to the incremental and iterative solution of a fourth-order eigenproblem, with very rapid solutions being obtained. The elastic restraint considered in this paper is full restraint against translation, but torsional restraint is permitted at the tension flange. Hitherto, a numerical method to analyse the elastic and inelastic lateral-distortional buckling of restrained or unrestrained beam-columns is unavailable. The prediction of the inelastic lateral-distortional buckling load obtained in this study is compared with the inelastic lateral-distortional buckling of restrained beams and the inelastic lateral-torsional buckling solution, by suppressing the out-of-plane web distortion, is published elsewhere and they agree reasonable well. The method is then extended to the lateral-distortional buckling of continuously restrained doubly symmetric I-sections to illustrate the effect of web distortion.

국산 명반석과 황산염으로부터 고순도의 미세한 알루미나의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구 (Fabrication and Characterization of High Purity of Fine Alumina from Korean Alunite and Sulfate Salts)

  • High purity alumina has been extracted form low grade Korean alunite. Alunite ore was treated by 15% $NH_4OH$ solution, followed by 10% $H_2SO_4$ leaching and metallic impurities such as Fe and Ti were removed by solvent extraction method. Alumina prepared by the extraction process was 99.9% in purity. Hot Petroleum Drying Method has been employed for the preparation of uniformly fine alumina powder, using chemical reagent aluminum sulfate and ammonium aluminum sulfate extrated from Korea alunite. The sinterability of alumina powder prepared by Hot Petroleum Drying Method was shown to be improved in comparison with the one treated by other methods such as ball milling method, but dry pressing was difficult due to the agglomeration of calcined powder. The best slip of alumina powder prepared by Hot Petroleum Drying Method contained a lower soild content than the one treated by other methods. The alumina body formed by soild and drain casting with the former alumina powder showed a higher sintered density.

Preparation and Toughening of Hot-Pressed SiC-AIN Solid Solutions

  • The preparation and toughening of SiC-AIN solid solution from powder mixtures of $\beta$-SiC, AIN and $\alpha$-SiC by hot-pressing were studied in the 1870 to $2030^{\circ}C$ temperature range. The reaction of AIN and $\beta$-SiC(3C) powders causing transformation to the 2H(wurtzite) structure appeared to depend on hot-pressing temperatures and an additive of $\alpha$-SiC. For the composition of 49wt% SiC with 2 wt% $\alpha$-SiC and 47.5 wt% AIN47.5wt% SiC with 5 wt % $\alpha$-SiC at 203$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, th complete solid solutions with a single phase of 2H could be obtained. The appreciable amount of $\alpha$-SiC could develop the columnar inter-grains of 4H phase and the stable 2H phase with the relatively uniform composition and grain size distributions. The effect of $\alpha$-SiC on the phases present and compositional microstructures with columnar inter-grains was invetigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The fracture toughness and Vickers hardness of the hot-pressed solid solutions wre examined by the indentation-fracture-test method.

오이지의 발효에 미치는 염혼합물 첨가 및 열수담금의 병용효과 (Combined Effect of Salts Mixture Addition and Brining in Hot Solution on the Korean Pickle Fermentation)

  • 오이지의 과숙을 억제시키는 방법을 찾고저 $90^{\circ}C$의 소금물에 담금(방법 A), $90^{\circ}C$ 소금물에 KCl과 $CaCl_2$ 첨가하여 담금(방법 B), 방법 B로 담그어 발효중간에 인산염과 nitrite염, citrate염의 혼합물을 첨가하는 방법 (방법 C) 그리고 방법 C 중 염혼합물을 인산염과 KCl만으로 한 방법(방법 D)의 4가지 방법을 상온에서 소금물에 담금만을 한 대조구와 비교하였다. 그 결과 방법 C와 D는 $25^{\circ}C$에서 13일되어도 pH 4.0에 도달하지 않아 4일 이내에 pH 4.0에 도달하였던 대조구와 비교할 때 현저한 과숙 억제 효과가 밝혀졌다. 방법 B도 pH4.0에 도달하는 시간이 약 2배 소요되어 발효억제 효과가 뚜렸하였다. 그러나 유기산을 측정한 총산도는 이들 첨가구가 더 많이 생성되어 pH와는 다른 양상을 보여주었다. 물리적 성질인 오이조직의 견고성 변화에서는 뚜렷한 차이를 보여주지는 않았으나 관능적 특성에서는 방법 C와 D에 의하여 제조한 오이지가 대조구에 비하여 군덕내와 신 냄새가 훨씬 적었고 생오이 냄새와 맛이 강하여 신선한 오이지의 특성을 오랫 동안 유지해줌이 밝혀졌다.

  • Alumium alloys hot forging process are gaining increased acceptance in the automotive and electronic industries and hot forging is one of the most efficient manufacturing method for mass product parts. It has been investigated the microstructures and mechanical properties of Al-11.7Si-0.5Mg (KNT40-T6)alloy fabricated by hot forging process for development of connecting rod in this study. The microstructure of hot forged specimen was composed of eutectic structure of alumimum solid solution and $Mg_2Si$ precipitates. The tensile strength of solutionized Al-11.7Si-0.5Mg alloy was 217MPa. This alloy showed a good corrosion resistance using electrochemical polarization test.

담금 방법을 달리한 오이지의 숙성 중 펙틴질의 변화 (Changes in Pectic Substances of Korean Pickled Cucumbers with Different Preparation Methods)

  • This investigation was undertaken for the purpose of studying the changes of pectic substances in alcohol insoluble solids(AIS) extracted from cucumbers pickled in salt. The preparation methods were brining the cucumbers in 10% NaCl solution (bolied, method A), 20% NaCl solution(bolied, method B) and 20% NaCl solution(cool to $25^{\circ}C$ after boiling, method C). The composition ratio of hot water soluble pectin(HWSP) in AIS decreased during brining, while that of 0.4% sodium hexametaphosphate soluble pectin(NaSP) increased remarkably. The contents of Ca and Mg in AIS increased regardless of preparation methods used. By DEAE-cellulose chromatography, HWSP from fresh and brined cucumbers were divided into six fracitons. 0.2M peak was the main fraction in fresh cucumber, whereas 0.05M and 0.2M peak were the main fraction in pickled cucumbers. On the other hands, NaSP from fresh and brined cucumbers were divided into five fractions and 0.4M peak was the main fraction. However, the composition ratios of galacturonic acid and neutral sugar of 0.4M fraction in brined cucumbers were higher than those of fresh cucumber.

Carbon Particle-Doped Polymer Layers on Metals as Chemically and Mechanically Resistant Composite Electrodes for Hot Electron Electrochemistry

  • This paper presents a simple and inexpensive method to fabricate chemically and mechanically resistant hot electron-emitting composite electrodes on reusable substrates. In this study, the hot electron emitting composite electrodes were manufactured by doping a polymer, nylon 6,6, with few different brands of carbon particles (graphite, carbon black) and by coating metal substrates with the aforementioned composite ink layers with different carbon-polymer mass fractions. The optimal mass fractions in these composite layers allowed to fabricate composite electrodes that can inject hot electrons into aqueous electrolyte solutions and clearly generate hot electron- induced electrochemiluminescence (HECL). An aromatic terbium (III) chelate was used as a probe that is known not to be excited on the basis of traditional electrochemistry but to be efficiently electrically excited in the presence of hydrated electrons and during injection of hot electrons into aqueous solution. Thus, the presence of hot, pre-hydrated or hydrated electrons at the close vicinity of the composite electrode surface were monitored by HECL. The study shows that the extreme pH conditions could not damage the present composite electrodes. These low-cost, simplified and robust composite electrodes thus demonstrate that they can be used in HECL bioaffinity assays and other applications of hot electron electrochemistry.

수경재배 온실의 양액냉각시스템 개발 (Development of Nutrient Solution Cooling System in Hydroponic Greenhouse)

  • Since it is difficult to expect the normal production of plants in greenhouses during hot summer season in Korea, certain provisions on the control of extreme environmental factors in summer should be considered for the year-round cultivation in greenhouses. This study was carried out to find a method to suppress the temperature rising of nutrient solution by cooling, which is able to contribute to the improvement of the plant growth environment in hydroponic greenhouse during hot summer season. A mechanical cooling system using the counter flow type with double pipe was developed for cooling the nutrient solution efficiently. Also the heat transfer characteristics of the system was analysed experimentally and theoretically, and compared with the existing cooling systems of nutrient solution. The cooling capacities of three different Systems, which used polyethylene tube in solution tank, stainless tube in solution tank, and the counter flow type with double pipe, were evaluated. The performance of each cooling system was about 41 %, 70% and 81 % of design cooling load in hydroponic greenhouse of 1 ,000m$^2$ on the conditions that the flow rate of ground water was 2m$^3$/hr and the temperature difference between two liquids was 10 ˚C According to the results analysed as above, the cooling system was found to have a satisfactory cooling capability for regions where ground water supply is available. Fer the other regions where ground water supply is restricted, more efficient cooling System should be developed.

조직배양 유래 자생나리 소인경의 온탕 및 저온처리가 맹아 및 비대에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Hot Water and Chilling Treatments of Bulblets Propagated by Tissue Culture on Sprouting and Bulb Development in Korean Native Lilies)

  • 본 연구에서는 관상가치가 높은 5종의 자생나리에 있어서 조직배양을 통해 획득한 소인경의 휴면타파 및 비대를 위한 저온 및 온탕처리 효과를 구명하기 위해 실시되었다. 솔나리(L. cernuum), 섬말나리(L. hansonii), 민섬말나리(L. hansonii for. mutatum), 중나리(L. leichtlinii), 하늘말나리(L. tsingtauense)의 소인경을 $4^{\circ}C$에서 0, 4, 8주 저온처리하거나 $35^{\circ}C$의 증류수 또는 $100mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$$GA_3$$GA_{4+7}$ 용액으로 2시간 온탕처리를 하였는데, 저온과 온탕처리는 처리의 선후를 달리하면서 순차적으로 처리한 후 $20^{\circ}C$의 유리온실에서 맹아 및 비대 양상을 조사하였다. 자생나리 5종 모두 기내 소인경은 모두 휴면에 돌입하여 저온 또는 온탕처리 없이는 맹아하지 않았다. 휴면타파를 위한 온탕처리에는 5종 모두 $GA_{4+7}$이 55-96%까지 맹아를 유도한 반면, 증류수나 $GA_3$ 용액은 거의 효과가 없었다. 솔나리와 중나리는 4주간의 저온처리만으로도 50-70%의 맹아를 유도한 반면, 섬말나리, 민섬말나리의 맹아에는 8주간의 저온처리가 필요했다. 온탕과 저온의 연속처리는 맹아 유도에 상승효과를 주었는데, 솔나리와 섬말나리에서 $GA_{4+7}$ 온탕처리 후 4주 저온처리한 것이 역순의 처리보다 맹아를 35-45% 촉진시켰으며, 맹아소요일수도 3-9일까지 앞당겼다. 구근의 비대는 맹아가 촉진된 처리구에서 증가된 경향이었다. 신초는 솔나리에서만 출현하였는데, $GA_{4+7}$ 온탕처리와 저온처리에서 효과적이었으며, 특히 $GA_{4+7}$ 온탕처리 후 저온 8주 처리에서 신초 출현률이 가장 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합할 때, 맹아 및 인경비대를 위해 가장 효과적인 휴면타파법은 섬말나리, 민섬말나리와 중나리의 경우에는 $GA_{4+7}$온탕처리 후 4주 저온처리였고, 솔나리와 하늘말나리에서는 $GA_{4+7}$ 온탕처리 후 8주 저온처리구였다.

식품첨가제용 뽕잎 농축액의 제조 및 특성평가 (Manufacturing and Characterization evaluation of mulberry concentrate for food additive)

  • 뽕잎을 다양한 방법으로 추출하여 수율을 측정한 결과 저온 초음파 추출법과 알콜 추출법이 효율적이었다. 식품첨가제로 활용하기 위한 뽕잎 농축액의 특성을 조사한 결과, 알콜 추출 농축액이 농축액별 곰팡이 증식에 대해 가장 우수한 억제력을 보였다. 색상의 변화는 비교적 안정적이었으나 뽕잎 열수 추출액의 경우는 전처리 과정이 없을 경우 갈변현상이 발생하였으며, 탁도의 변화조사와 비슷한 결과를 통해 열수 추출의 경우는 식품첨가제로서 그대로 이용하기엔 부족함을 인지할 수 있었다. 시간에 따른 농축액별 침전물 변화를 조사한 결과를 본 결과 필터를 통한 여과과정만 거친다면 알콜 추출과 당 추출의 경우는 거의 유사한 결과를 얻을 수 있으므로 식품첨가제 활용하기 위해 두 추출법은 모두 용이하다 할 수 있다. 그러나 농축액의 수율과 특성을 동시에 고려하여 농가에서 활용할 수 있는 가장 손쉬운 방법은 알콜 추출법으로 판단되었다.
