  • In this study, We disigned and manufactured the Hot Chuck which can be operated until $120^{\circ}C$. Its shape is circular, wide is 300mm and depth is 15mm. Two types working fluid was used as working fluid(distilled water, 0.1%-$TiO_2$ nanofluid). The experimental results were compared to each working fluid. The effect of various working fluid, charging volume ratio was investigated. Also we investigated heat transfer rate against each working fluid. By using nanofluid, heat transfer rate can be enhanced and the wick structure can be constructed automatically on smooth surface. The experiment of 40% charged 0.1%-$TiO_2$ nanofluid showed the best performance of thermal accuracy and uniformity. To improve performance of Hot Chuck, more study is needed.

  • The goal of this paper is to investigate preliminary the applicability of 3D printing technologies for the development of the hot bulk forming process and die. 3D printing technology based on the plastic material was applied to the preform design of the hot forging process. Plastic hot forging dies were fabricated by Polyjet process for the physical simulation of the workpiece deformation. The feasibility of application of Laser-aided Direct Metal Rapid Tooling (DMT) process to the fabrication of the hot bulk metal forming die was investigated. The SKD61 hot-working tool steel was deposited on the heat treated SKD61 using the DMT process. Fundamental characteristics of SKD 61 hot-working tool steel deposited specimen were examined via hardness and wear experiments as well as the observation of the morphology. Using the results of the examination of fundamental characteristics, the applicability of the DMT process to manufacture hot bulk forming die was discussed.

  • A method for estimating the shear spinnability is suggested, and it was applied to sheets of Ti-6Al-4V alloy for estimation of shear spinnability at hot working temperature. The effective working temperature was $850^{\circ}C$ or above. The hot spinning operation was carried out in two steps of shear spinning. The reduction of thickness at the first step was 50% and 45% at the second, and the overall reduction of thickness was 72.4%. The cone spinning process could produce a uniform wall thickness with only a few percent tolerance, proving itself appropriate for making cones of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with uniform wall thickness.

  • In hot strip rolling, the thickness of strip cannot be retained uniform by several irregular parameters. It has been shown that the load distribution can affect only a small fraction of the excess strip crown, whereas the thermal effects of working roll are the major reason on large changes in the strip center crown during hot rolling. In this study, the temperature distribution of working roll is represented by fourier series expansion. The analytical solution of the resulting thermo-elasticity problem is obtained by love's strain function. The results which are compared with those of the finite element method show good agreements.

  • In the precision hot plate for wafer processing, the temperature uniformity of upper plate surface is one of the key factors affecting the quality of wafers. Precision hot plates require temperature variations less than ${\pm}1.5%$ during heating to $120^{\circ}C$. In this study, we have manufactured the flat plate heat pipe hot chuck of circle type(300mm) and investigated the operating characteristics of flat plate heat pipe hot chuck experimentally. Various liquids(aceton, FC-40, water) were used as the working fluid and charging ratio was changed($14{\sim}36\;vol.%$). Several cases were tested to improve temperature uniformity. Major working fluid to be investigated was water. Using water, various parameters such as charging ratio, wafer operation on-off time, different working fluids. In case of water, the temperature uniformity was ${\pm}1.5%$, response time of wafer were investigated.

  • Alloy 718 nozzle component was manufactured by hot working and electron beam welding process. In this process, domestic 718 materials were applied and evaluated. Hot compression tests were carried out at a lot of process conditions and microstructural evaluation was investigated. Using the results, FEM simulations were performed in order to optimize the hot working process. After hot working, forged work-pieces were machined and welded by electron beam. Final nozzle component were heat treated and their microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated.

  • Performance extension of the absorption refrigerator with LiBr solution is often faced to operate very close to the crystallization limit. Especially in the development of an air-cooled cycle, the crystallization of working solution in the system is a very difficult problem to overcome. This paper describes the cycle of hot water driven absorption system using a new working absorption solution instead of LiBr solution to improve the efficiency. In this study, we found out the characteristics of new working absorption solution through the cycle simulation and compared LiBr solution to evaluate. The effect of cooling water temperature, weak solution flow rate, hot water temperature and hot water flow rate were also examined. The COP is increased 22% higher in the case of LiBr+Li1+LiC1+LiNO$_3$$H_2O$, 2% LiBr+HO(CH$_2$)$_3$OH+$H_2O$ than that of LiBr solution for the same operation condition.

  • The hot deformation characteristics of pure molybdenum was investigated in the temperature range of $600{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ and strain rate range of $0.01{\sim}10.0/s$ using a Gleeble test machine. The power dissipation map for hot working was developed on the basis of the Dynamic Materials Model. According to the map, dynamic recrystallization (DRX) occurs in the temperature range of $1000{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $0.01{\sim}10.0/s$, which are the optimum conditions for hot working of this material. The average grain size after DRX is $5{\mu}m$. The material undergoes flow instabilities at temperatures of $900{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ and the strain rates of $0.01{\sim}10.0/s$, as calculated by the continuum instability criterion.

  • We have compared the regulations of hot environment workpaces between Korea and ACGIH, then pointed out some insufficiences of Korean regulations for occupational hygiene and safety. And investigated the heat stress characteristics of laboratory, lathe and foundry working. The metabolic heat loads of those workplaces were obtained as 120, 300 및 660 kcal/hr based on WBGT index. WBGT index could be depended on weather condition, therefore useful for controlling working and rest times etc, but Belding-hatch index was represented by strength of working, definitely this would be convinient result for arranging countermeasures of workers in hot environments by estimating metabolic heat and signs of fatigue.

  • The hot cracking phenomena and phase behaviors during hot working process of Cu-Ni bearing hot rolled steels were investigated by a $90^{\circ}$bending tests, BSE image analysis and EDS analysis. For aNi-free 1.2% Cu bearing steel, the surface hot cracking occurred about $1100^{\circ}C$ due to a liquid state Cu-enriched phase formed continuously at the interface between oxide scale and matrix. The liquid Cu-enriched phase penetrated into austenite grain boundaries and caused surface cracking during the hot working. In case of 0.6% Ni containing 1.2% Cu-Ni bearing steel, solid state Cu-Ni-riched phase existed at the scale/matrix interface as a discontinuous type. But the higher addition of 1.2% Ni, solid state Ni-Cu-riched phase was formed dominantly in the oxide scale. It was found that the addition of Ni suppressed the surface cracking of 1.2% Cu bearing steel by eliminating the liquid state Cu-enriched phase.
