The purpose of this study is to identify which factors of medical service quality were considered important by patients based on survey on eight hospitals located in Seoul. We analyzed the difference in impact of health service quality factors between the two groups with short and long inpatient days. In addition, we analyzed which service factors affected the customer satisfaction more differently across the inpatient groups. We found that patient satisfaction was not different between the two groups with short and long inpatient days. But the two groups showed different priority orders of medical service factors that affect patient satisfaction. In the group with long inpatient days, the order of medical service factors are cleanness, speciality, process. In the group with short stay, important factors are speciality, cleanness and convenience of facilities. These findings imply that hospitals should set up different marketing strategies across the different inpatients groups.
The present study is aimed at assessing medical service quality as perceived by in-patients of geriatric hospitals and at analyzing the excitement factors by using revised IPA Applying the Kano's model for users' satisfaction. The data was collected from Nov. 5 to Dec. 7, 2012. Among a total of 503 cases of questionaries, only 419 cases were used. To data were analyzed by PASW statistics 18.0 and revised IPA applying Kano's model. The paired t-test results reveal that satisfaction was higher than the expectation level at a statistically significant level across all the medical service quality factors. The revised IPA results categorized facility convenience, hospitalization and care, and kindness as basic factors and medical reliability and access as excitement factors. In conclusion, medical reliability and access, which were identified as excitement factors of medical service quality, are essential opportunity factors for users and should accordingly be used as strategic factors to increase satisfaction with a geriatric hospital and induce customer surprise.

The focus group method was applied to two provider groups and individual interview was applied to two persons who had experienced a long-term care hospital. Results: The results of analyzing the consumers and providers was integrated into 8 dimensions: physical environment, staff, clinical care and nursing, multiplicity of activity program, atmosphere, interaction with family, nutrition, and quality improvement system. Conclusion: The dimensions of long-term care hospital care quality from this study can be used as a basis of quality indicators. Quantitative studies to test these dimensions are required for establishing quality management systems.

Factor analysis was performed on 34 items evaluating the quality of health care service. Items were grouped into 5 dimensions as a result of factor analysis and the reliability and validity of influence on patient service assessment were evaluated for each dimension. Results : The 5 dimensions were as follows, 1) physician services, 2) non-physician services, 3) process 4) facilities, and 5) cleanliness A positive correlation with the quality of health care service was found for the dimensions of non-physician services and process, while no significant correlation was found for the dimensions of physician services, facilities, and cleanliness. As medical service industry is transformed into the market centered on consumers, medical service quality patients recognize is emphasized as the powerful means to ensure competitive advantage among hospitals in the fierce medical markets. Many researches have been done on the definition of medical service quality, developing a scale to measure it, patient satisfaction, hospital repurchase and oral transmission intention, but integrated studies have not been done sufficiently on the patient' cognitive emotional aspects. For these research purposes, based on service relation, service quality, physical surroundings, human services, corporate reputation, service value, emotional response, customer satisfaction and repurchase intention, this paper suggests a theoretical modeling composed of hypotheses on the relations of each theoretical variable. In addition, the moderating effect of service relationships is investigated based on the structural equation model.

Demand of physical therapy for quality improvement(QI) related to treatment time(r =0.746, P<01), treatment method(r =.664, P<.01). treatment effect(r=0.648, P<.01), equipments(r=0.620, P<.01), cleaning status(r =0.619, P<.01). Willingness to revisit and recommendation of this physical therapy room related to treatment method(r=0.489, P<.01), treatment time(r=0.469, P<.01), cleaning status(r=0.432, P<.01).

This study attempts to analyze some determinants of consumers' medical service quality and their complaining behavior. The results can be summerized as follows: 1. The determinants of consumers' perceived medical service quality could be categorized as five factors; i.e. nursery, hospital environment, medical doctors, other staffs service fee. Among them nursery sector consists of 32% variance. 2. According to the discriminant analysis, those determinants are of great value to distinguish between satisfied/unsatisfied group. The hit ratio was 85.4% which is relatively high score. 3. The type of complaining behavior could be grouped into no action, private and public complaining behavior. Most of respondents belonged to no action group and a few showed private complaining behavior. Any respondents who were willing to show public complaining behavior could not be found out. 4. These variables which influence complaining behavior were preconception toward hospital, barrier to complaining process and expected complaining behavior. Among them the first one was most influential variable. 5. In order to distinguish between complaining/non complaining behavior group, discriminant analysis was done. The result showed the above three variables had a significantly discriminatory power, the hit ratio reaching above 70%. In summary, we can see that consumers' evaluation on the whole medical service depends on the external factor such as staffs' attitude or hospital facilities due to the lack of their ability to evaluate highly specialized service like doctor's treatment.
Background : The purpose of study in to grasp the level of perception of hospital workers on the patient safety culture, consider the difference in perception of patients safety culture according to medical service and finally find out a way to establish patient safety culture in hospital. Methods : As for the data, the analysis on frequency, t-test, ANOVA and tukey test were carried out by using SPSS 12.0. Result : The results of comparison among the positive response ratios on the patients culture of hospital workers showed that the subjects had perceived the teamwork within units most positively(74.1%), and perceived most negatively on the non-punitive response to error(16.2%)and the staffing(26.2%). 68.6% of subjects answered that the medical error were mostly of always reported. when daytime working hours are longer, perception of patient safety culture ranked low.
