Two new marine sponges, Halichondria jangseungenesis n. sp. and H. nagokenesis n. sp., of the family Halichondriidae, were collected from Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea by SCUBA diving during the period from Apr 2007 to Aug 2007. Based on their spicule composition and skeletal structure, H. jangseungenesis n. sp. appears to have a close similarity with H. panicea (Pallas, 1766); however, they differ in length of spicule. The spicule length of oxea of H. jangseungenesis n. sp. is shorter than that of H. panicea. Based on their spicule composition and growth form, H. nagokenesis n. sp. is quite similar to H. cylindrata Tanita and Hoshino, 1989; however, but they differ in length of spicule. The spicule length of oxea of H. nagokenesis n. sp. is longer than that of H. cylindrata.

The superconducting permanent current switch (PCS) is an important component to build MRI system. This switch uses a thermal and / or magnetic super-to-normal phase transition of the superconductor. Unfortunately, in the past it was not designed for using in line frequency. We made some superconducting power electronics devices operating up to 100 Hz [1]. The results of development and preliminary studying of the hear controlled S-PED up to line frequency are presented.

This study aimed to compare the efficiency of propylene glycol (PG) and distilled water (DW) as vehicles that would allow diffusion of dye through the root canal system. Human maxillary central incisors were chosen and de-crowned. After enlarging the upper part of the root canal with a Peeso reamer, cementum covering the upper third of the root was removed. The roots were ultrasonically irrigated with 5% NaOCI to remove smear layer.(omitted)

Two new marine sponges in family Halichondriidae, Halichondria ulleungensis n. sp. and H. hongdoenesis n. sp. are collected from Ulleungdo Island and Hongdo Island, Korea by SCUBA diving during 2003-2004. H. ulleungensis n. sp. is similar to H. corrugata Diaz, Pomponi and van Soest, 1993 in the type of spicule, but it is different in growth form and choanosomal skeleton. The growth form is encrusting, with numerous erected cylindrical tube, comparing with massive-lobate of H. corrugata. The choanosomal skeleton is confused with loosely arranged oxea tract, comparing with densely tracts with many spicules of H. corrugata. H. hongdoenesis n. sp. is similar to H. surrubicunda Hoshino, 1981 in type of spicule and growth form, but this species has two kinds (thick and thin) of oxea.

A study on marine sponges was conducted with the materials collected by SCUBA diving in Hongdo and Gageodo Islands, Korea from September 2004 to July 2005. Clathria (Clathria) hongdoensis n. sp. and Clathria (Clathria) sohuksanensis n. sp. turned out to be new to the science. Clathria (Clathria) hongdoensis n. sp. closely seems to C. (C.) acanthstyli Hoshino (1981), based on their spicules type. However, they differ in the size of spicules and growth form. Clathria (Clathria) sohuksanensis n. sp. is similar to C. (C.) bicalthrata Hooper (1996), except for lacking small toxas.

The ubiquitous presence of lactoferrin (LF) receptor in human as reported by the research group of Prof, Bo Lonnerdal, Univ. California, encouraged us to search for the unknown physiological roles of LF. Under the collaboration with Prof. Etsumori Harada, Tottori Univ., and his research group, we have found two novel biological activities of LF as the control of the lipid metabolism and the effect on the central nervous system. Relating to the lipid metabolism, LF could, in animal experiments, reduce triglyceride and total cholesterol both in blood and liver. LF increased plasma HDL-C and lowered LDL-C. In the central nervous system, LF showed anti-nociceptive activity mediated by ${\mu}$-opioid receptor in the rat spinal cord. LF enhanced analgesic action of morphine synergistically via nitric oxide synthesis. LF showed opioid-mediated suppressive effect on distress induced by maternal separation in rat pups.

High quality poly-SiGe thin films were prepared on 6-inch substrates using Reactive-thermal CVD with $Si_2H_6$ and $GeF_4$ around at $500^{\circ}C$ directly. Its thickness uniformity was ~ 3% on the entire substrate area. N-channel mobility of ~30 nm thick bottom-gate TFTs exceeded 20 $cm^2$/Vs without any further crystallization.

An Optimum Fuzzy Controller which can be sued to direct the driver to control a running train in an optimum operation way has been developed. In the development process of the controller, the theory and technology of Optimum Control and Fuzzy Control are applied. Practical field tests have been carried out in P.R. of China. In order to make the function of the controller more perfect, the controller is improved by the advanced fuzzy control technology and tool in Japan. The computer simulation of the improved controller has been finished.

1986년부터 1999년까지 진도, 구룡포, 제주도에서 채집된 해면동물을 동정·분류한 결과 이오폰해면과(lophonidae)에 가시끈적해면 (Myxichela spinulosa)과 유령해면과 (Microcionidae)에 유극침유령해면 [Ciathria (Clathria) acanthostyli] 2종이 한국미기록종로 밝혀졌다.

A new marine sponges, Mycale (Carmia) ieoensis n. sp., of the family Mycalidae was collected SCUBA diving in June 2017 from Ieodo Ocean Research Station, Korea. M. (C.) ieoensis n. sp. is encrusting to irregular massive type, yellow in life. This new species is similar to M. nullarosette Hoshino, 1981 in color and growth form but it differs in spicule size and sigma shape. Spicule size of M. (C.) ieoensis n. sp. smaller than that M. nullarosette. Also, M. (C.) ieoensis n. sp. has two size toxa, but M. nullarosette is not. The new species are compared to other Mycale species from the Korean region, and similar species from elsewhere.
