PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of Horse riding simulator exercise on pain, dysfunction and dynamic balance in adults with nonspecific chronic low back pain. METHODS: In this study, total 19 college students usually complain of low back pain who were randomly divided into the horse riding simulator exercise group (n=10), lumbar strengthening exercise group (n=9) were recruited. Each group carried out for 30 minutes exercise three times a week for 4 weeks. Horse riding simulator exercise group carried out 15 minutes horse riding simulator exercise and 15 minutes lumbar strengthening exercise. Lumbar strengthening exercise group carried out 30 minutes lumbar strengthening exercise. Visual analogue scale (VAS) were measured for evaluation back pain. Korean oswestry disability index (KODI) were measured for dysfunction. Limits of stability (LOS) were measured for dynamic balance. RESULTS: VAS, KODI, LOS results showed a significant change within both horse riding simulator exercise group, lumbar strengthening exercise group. CONCLUSION: Present study suggested that the horse riding simulator exercise can improve back pain, dysfunction, dynamic balance. Horse riding simulator exercise provides more convenience, interest and motivation than conversional therapy and it could be a possible approach to adults with nonspecific chronic low back pain.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to review health-care program using the recent robotic horse-riding technology and its clinical effects for chronic low back pain. Research design, data and methodology: Recent clinical articles were determined under three inclusion criteria for in-depth review: 1) article that is published within 1 year, 2) article that includes the detailed explanation of health-care program using robotic horse-riding, 3) the article that deals with chronic low back pain during more than 6 months. Results: As a result, the finally-determined two articles demonstrated the clinical effects of robotic horse-riding statistically on pain intensity, low back muscle strength, spinal alignment, and fear-avoidance belief. Conclusions: After in-depth review, I concluded that health-care program using robotic horse-riding for chronic low back pain needs to be provided at low-intensity (e.g. less than 6km/h horse walking program) in the beginning of health-care for improving their motor control ability, then, at the increased intensity for strengthening core muscles.

Conclusion : This study showed that Horse-back riding Simulation Machine training increased balance ability that resulted in enhancement of motor performance.
Well-fitting riding breeches provide a comfortable ride. Horse-riding breeches should fit the lower body with patches located on the inside of hip and knees to prevent tears and slips. This study provides information about the fit of women's breeches using 3D human body scan data wearing commercially available two breeches according to posture. To get information about breeches fit, we measured the angle of waist line, the length, and the area of the breeches fit on four 20's women. This research showed the problem which was down for waist back line in the case of the horseback riding pose. The back waistline of the riding breeches should be raised compared to the front waistline; subsequently, an increased waistline angle results in less back waistline decrease. The breeches have plenty of length from back waist to crotch so the breech fit can be improved. The thigh circumference increased when riding in the front; therefore, good elasticity of the weft direction of the fabric is recommended. The length increase and the peripheral increase of the front knee significantly increased the surface area of the knee; consequently, knee patch material should be a two-way elastic fabric in all directions to enhance comfort according to riding motion.
PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of a horse riding simulator, gym ball, and McKenzie exercises on back pain and static balance. METHODS: Among 30 participants with chronic back pain and more than 5 points of ODI, 28 participants were selected. Groups of performing either horse riding, gym ball, or McKenzie were chosen randomly to work out two times a week for six weeks. The static balance was measured using a gym plate and the degree of pain was measured by the VAS and K-ODI. RESULTS: When each exercise was applied to back pain patients, the VAS was changed in all three groups but only in the gym-ball exercise group. The K-ODI varied in all three groups but not in the gym-ball exercise group, In the anterior - posterior static balance, all three groups showed changes, but only the riding exercise group was not significant. In the left-right static balance, all three groups were significant. CONCLUSION: This study showed that six-week exercise for back pain patients was effective in improving back pain and balance ability. Continuous exercise minimizes the risk of recurrence and is effective in preventing and treating back pain.
The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of posture correction & stabilization according to horse rider's(n=10) skill levels of novice(0wk), mid-skill(12wk) & skill(24wk) in walk & trot. First, Mean posture of 3 times experiments; Anterior & posterior leaning posture of trunk showed rather unstable according to progress of the stages of TD1, TO, TD2 phase, and also shoulder & elbow angle, which effects to the distance from bit to rein, showed unstable riding posture. There was close relationship between shoulder and elbow Angle in walk and hip, knee & ankle angle in trot. Second, Posture correction & stabilization according to riding skill levels; Anterior & posterior leaning posture of trunk did not show significant difference statistically but showed approaching tendency to trunk's vertical line and showed significant difference(p<.05) according to improvement of skill levels in walk & trot horse riding. Hip angle showed significant difference according to progress of the stages of TD1, TO, TD2 phase(p<.05) and showed tendency maintaining the larger thigh flexion according to improvement of skill levels in walk & trot. Knee angle showed more stable posture by maintaining the larger flexion between thigh and shank according to improvement of skill levels in walk & trot(p<.05). Ankle angle also showed tendency maintaining the larger plantar flexion of foot according to improvement of skill levels in walk & trot. When considering the above, regular horse riding program could be useful in posture correction & stabilization according to improvement of skill levels of novice(0wk), mid-skill(12wk) & skill(24wk) in walk & trot.
The concern for living a healthier and more active life has increased and the target market for the leisure-sportswear will broaden. This study suggests ideas and directions to develop horse-riding pants that consider fit satisfaction, demand performance and design requirements. A total of 203 riders were surveyed in Busan, Jeju, and Gwacheon horse racing tracks from November to December 2011 and from September to October 2012. Frequency analysis, ANOVA, t-test, and ${\chi}^2$-test were performed for the statistical analysis of the data using SPSS Win 21.0 program. The results of this study are as follows. The satisfaction of riding pants showed differences according to gender, riding career, BMI, age, and riding level. Females showed lower satisfaction of pant length than males. Riders with 1-4 years riding career showed more satisfaction of the front waist circumference. The group between 10 and 20 years more strongly preferred a rubber band waist than the group over 30 years. Those underweight preferred no pocket on the back. The intermediate-high riding level showed more fit satisfaction than those at the high level. Beginners put more importance on hip cushion, while riders over an intermediate level put more importance to sewing durability. Basic pants with beige and/or black full patch attached to the velcro hem were preferred by most riders. In conclusion, it is confirmed that design strategies in segmented riding pants market are necessary.
