This study mainly focused on horror movies and horror games. Camera angles of horror movies and compositions of horror games are main factors that can cause fear in people's minds. Through analyzing four kinds of factors, including sensual, expectant, restrictive and executive fear elements, in horror games, and combining with the patterns of camera angles and film techniques that Alfred Hitchcock applied in his horror movies, this research investigated certain types of compositions and concluded ones that were more effective on growing fear in players' minds and enhancing their involvement. In conclusion, only the combination of factors in horror-game compositions, like diagonal composition, dual-diagonal composition and inverse triangle-line composition, with visual elements enables player's growing sense of fear and the increase in involvement. Therefore, future works should apply more of these fear-inducing compositions.

The talk of today's era is innovation and convergence. Convergence can be seen as innovation because convergence is born through innovation and innovation is made through convergence. Crossover and collaboration (collectively referred to as "crossover") which are used as a concept of convergence in popular culture means the combination and integration of different genres or fields, and has recently been used in various fields such as movies and music. The use of crossover helps to break boundaries with other fields and create new works through free and diverse attempts. Thus, in this study, the convergence of popular culture, or crossover, is analyzed in conjunction with the Korean horror genre. Currently, Korean horror movies were popular from the 1990s to the early 2000s, but now only a few are coming out due to a series of poor box office performances. However, according to this study, crossover attempts have already begun in Korean horror films, and traces of crossover have been found in several successful films. In this study, we will further apply a collaboration of characters such as "Avengers" to present a new direction for Korean horror movies.

Korean movies are now entering the global market without staying in the domestic market. Especially, despite the fact that the foreign films are imported and opened to the domestic market very much, there are more domestic films that have succeeded in box office success. In this paper, we try to clarify the characteristics of the voices of movies in order to feel horror among various genres of domestic movies. For this reason, the criterion for the success of the movie is the number of paying audiences, so differences of the voice of the characters of the horror movie that succeeded to hit the box office and the voice of the characters of the horror movie that failed to hit the box are analyzed for verifying the success conditions in voice. In addition, we would like to suggest what kind of voice should be used in order to succeed in the horror movie from the voice point of view.
The purpose of this paper is to be studied the Devil's types and the special effect makeup's techniques expressed on horror movies. As the theoretical background, the researcher inquired the origin of Satan, Demon and Devil, and the shapes and meanings portrayed in the religion, philosophy art and literature. Also classified the Devil's types of the movies, and examined the factors, techniques and aesthetic characteristics of special effect makeup for each of them. The results are as follows. 1. The Devil's types are the Werewolf, the Zombie and the Vampire. The Werewolf is a kind of Devil that changes into a wolf when the full moon rises. It requires animatronics, rubber body suits, furs and fangs for special makeup effects. The Zombie is a dead body that the exorcist restored with a narcotic drug, and it nibbles on human's brain and flesh. So it needs decayed or pale skins, scars, bald heads, non-focus eyes and false teeth for making this character. The Vampire is a bloodsucking ghost. Therefore, it uses fangs, evil eyes, rubber body suits and dropping blood for special effect makeup. 2. They expresses Sadism, Masquerade and Cruelty as the aesthetic characteristics of the Devil's special effect makeup.

Also, it was expressed that its teeth was changed to pointed canine teeth as a wild beast and its pale and bloodless face showed blood vessels clearly. To express its bloodless and pale skin, air brush was swept into the skin over several times. Its canine tooth was made acryl powder into its shape and was harden to make its shape smooth. Also, it was colored to show people like the real thing. Second, a vampire was expressed by make-up elements as long nails, a sharp canine tooth, a pale skin with a blood vessel and dead eyes. Its rough skin and long nails were manufactured with latex foam, which was colored like the skin. Third, a monster image as a werewolf was expressed by make-up elements as fur, sharp teeth, changed nails and toenails, a rough skin and a face changed to a wolf. The purpose of this paper is to confirm how traditional legends are changing and existing in modern times, and how they are inheriting and developing legendary values and meanings. The subject of the study is uncanny stories concerning army that is judged to be worthwhile alongside uncanny stories concerning school. The uncanny stories concerning army are urban legends that are active in the internet. It can be defined as 'a narrative story that raises fear with supernatural and strange experiences in the army'. In addition to the internet community sites, humor sites and game sites are actively handed down. Recently, ghost stories have appeared on the site, and uncanny stories concerning army are easily collected from these various sites. The uncanny stories concerning army can be divided into three types: ghost experience type, Bulgogi GP type, mystery radio type. The ghost experience type has the largest number of version, the contents are rich and varied. It does not deviate much from the traditional notion of ghosts. Bulgogi GP type has a frenzied horror from its name. It is related to actual events and raises horror. Mystery radio type is a romantic material used in movies and dramas. However, unlike movies and dramas, uncanny stories concerning army are perceived as fearsome. The uncanny stories concerning army continues to emphasize that the story is actually experienced in the title and content. It has presented concrete evidence. The emphasis on truthfulness is intended to make fear more realistic. This comes from the desire for safety. Uncanny stories concerning army focus on horror. So It tries to reveal the history and truthfulness of the story itself. As a result, the history of reality, the truth of reality, and the realistic ideology are erased. Historical and truthfulness of traditional legends has been varied in the case of uncanny stories concerning army.
This study was motivated not only by the important role of the special make-up effects in films, but also by the prominent contributions created by make-up artists. The first objective was to study of Jack Pierce, Dick Smith, Tom Savini, Rick flake., and Stan Winston's impact in the most challenging and creative field of all make-up artistry. The second objective was to examine both affinities and differences in artistic styles as well as in make-up techniques through a comparative study of special make-up effects of horror and sci-fi movies in the 20th century films produced by Hollywood studios. The sci-fi films were designed to thrill the audience through the potential of futuristic ideas by fantastic special effects of futuristic creatures such as an extra-terrestrial, a mutant, a robot and a cyborg. In contrast, the horror films were designed to frighten the audience with more reliance on horrifying special effects including a vampire, a werewolf, a zombie and a psycho killer. Their features were shown in a common thread (masquerade, otherness and surrealism) as well as a number of different themes between horror and sci-fi films (transformation vs. extension, satanism vs. monstrosity, and primitivism vs. futurism).

The character dialogue created by AI is unnatural when compared with human-made dialogue, and it can not reveal the character's personality properly in spite of remarkable development of AI. The purpose of this paper is to classify characters through the linguistic style and to investigate the relation of the specific linguistic style with the personality. We analyzed the dialogues of 92 characters selected from total 60 movies categorized four movie genres, such as romantic comedy, action, comedy and horror/thriller, using Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC), a text analysis software. As a result, we confirmed that there is a unique language style according to genre. Especially, we could find that the emotional tone than analytical thinking are two important features to classify. They were analyzed as very important features for classification as the precision and recall is over 78% for romantic comedy and action. However, the precision and recall were 66% and 50% for comedy and horror/thriller. Their impact on classification was less than romantic comedy and action genre. The characters of romantic comedy deal with the affection between men and women using a very high value of emotional tone than analytical thinking. The characters of action genre who need rational judgment to perform mission have much greater analytical thinking than emotional tone. Additionally, in the case of comedy and horror/thriller, we analyzed that they have many kinds of characters and that characters often change their personalities in the story.
This study examines the conceptual characteristics of fantasy movies. It also studies the process of socio-cultural changes of the mythical images such as heroes, goddesses and the devil that have often become the centre of fantasy movie characters. This study further examines the features of each character that correspond to specific mythical images. The purpose of this research is to suggest the conceptual and aesthetic characteristics of fantasy reflected in the characters and the costumes of fantasy movies, which were released since the year 2000. The followings are the results of the research: The conceptual characteristics of fantasy reflected in the characters and the costumes of fantasy movies are summarized as representation of reality, allegory and symbols, horror, desire, deconstruction and metamorphosis, otherness and counter-cultural sentiments. The aesthetic characteristics of the costumes of fantasy movies are defined as typicality and symbolism, grotesqueness, sensuality, hybridization, and otherness. These characteristics are very interconnected. The costumes of heroic characters appearing in fantasy movies show strong side of standard while the costumes of the evil characters revealed the limit of dualistic point of worldview centered on West. Heroic characters show realistic and human side that reflects the ethos of the time. Negative characters such as the devil or witches, which were created in human imagination and emotion, become the dynamic force of fantasy movies through their deviant actions. Their clothes, with variety and hybridization, become the source of creativity expected in present society.
