  • In this paper, a twice folded TEM horn antenna for 70 kV impulse high power system is proposed. The length reduction of 50 % is achieved by folding a conventional TEM horn antenna twice. The array elements are fed by the stripline power divider using the Chebyshev transformer. The power divider feeds four TEM horn antenna elements with an in-phased uniform power, and it covers a wide bandwidth ($150\;MHz\;{\sim}\;768\;MHz$, VSWR<2.0). Considering the air breakdown at peak 70 kV impulse, the proposed antenna maintains the 25 mm gaps between conducting plates. The dimension of the twice folded horn antenna is $1730\;{\times}\;1600\;{\times}\;300$ (mm3), and the operating frequency is from 152 MHz to 750 MHz under 10 dB return loss. The peak gains are measured from 6.77 dBi to 10.70 dBi at $400\;MHz\;{\sim}\;750\;MHz$.

  • KASI and NAOJ are making collaborating efforts to implement faster mapping capability into the new 275-500 GHz Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment focal plane array (FPA). Feed horn antenna is one of critical parts of the FPA. Required fractional bandwidth is almost 60 % while that of traditional conical horn is less than 50 %. Therefore, to achieve this wideband performance, we adopted a horn of which the corrugation depths have a longitudinal profile. A profiled horn has features not only of wide bandwidth but also of shorter length compared to a linear-tapered corrugated horn, and lower cost fabrication with less error can be feasible. In our design process the flare region is represented by a cubic splined curve with several parameters. Parameters of the flare region and each dimension of the throat region are optimized by a differential evolution algorithm to keep >20 dB return loss and >30 dB maximum cross-polarization level over the operation bandwidth. To evaluate RF performance of the horn generated by the optimizer, we used a commercial mode matching software, WASP-NET. Also, Gaussian beam (GB) masks to far fields were applied to give better GB behavior over frequencies. The optimized design shows >23 dB return loss and >33 dB maximum cross-polarization level over the whole band. Gaussicity of the horn is over 96.6 %. The length of the horn is 12.5 mm which is just 57 % of the ALMA band 8 feed horn (21.96 mm).

  • In this paper, the gain of the square hem antenna is enhanced with $3{\times}3$ latticed aperture. In order to get the uniform field distribution on the aperture, the different thicknesses of dielectric plates for the phase compensation are inserted into the center and the edge of the aperture respectively. The proposed horn antenna is designed at 12.5 GHz band, and then the analysis of the field distribution on the aperture is performed by using FDTD method. The radiation pattern is also calculated from the analysis. Based on the measured data, it is verified that the gain of a horn antenna with latticed aperture is 18 dBi and this is 2 dB gain enhancement compare with a normal horn antenna without latticed aperture.

  • Using symplectic relation and reaction concept, we propose a planar near-field antenna measurement method. A generalized probe compensation equation is deduced to obtain the probe correction formulation. To verify our approach, a reflector antenna with $1{\times}2$ horn array is fabricated and measured in the near-field measurement facility. The near-field measurement results are compared with the physical optics (PO) simulation. The results of measurement and simulation agree very well near to the mainbeam.

  • In this paper, dual-polarized monopulse cassegrain antenna for W-band millimeter-wave seeker was proposed and the performances were verified by the measured results of the fabricated antenna. Dual-polarized monopulse Cassegrain antenna consists of main/subreflector, dual-polarized feed horn and monopulse comparator. The proposed feed horn has $2{\times}2$ array square waveguide feeding structure to make monopulse signals and it was designed using 90 degree rotational symmetric structure to receive dual-polarized signals. At the sum and difference channel, the measured vertical and horizontal polarization radiation pattern were similar. Measurement gains are 35.1 dBi for v-pol. and 35.6 dBi for h-pol. at the center frequency with 0.5dBi difference between each polarization and the side lobe level is below -21.6 dB.

  • This paper describes the developed HILS and test equipment in order to test the performances of MMW(Millimeter-Wave) seeker which can detect and track a high speed of short-range ballistic missile and aircraft. This system is used to 141 horn antenna array, array switching, and gain and phase control algorithm to simulate various kind of targets and trajectory of high speed and maneuver moving target. In addition, it simulates not only velocity and range for these targets but also clutter and jamming environments. System configuration and implementation and the measurement results of major subsystems such as target motion simulator, simulation signal generator, high speed data aquisition unit, and central control unit are presented. These systems could verify the detection and tracking performance of MMW seeker through dynamic real-time test based on simulation flight scenario.

  • We have developed a millimeter-wave passive imaging system with reflector for detection of concealed objects. We have designed a millimeter-wave sensor, control device for reflector control, and a lens for focusing of millimeter-wave signal at center frequency of 94GHz. DC signal from millimeter-wave sensor output is filtered by low pass filter and amplified by video amplifier, and then converted into digital signal by using ADC/DAQ. This signal is image processed by computer, and it is possible to obtain millimeter-wave passive image with resolution of $18{\times}64$ pixel using the fabricated system. It is shown that we can obtain the image of men and concealed object with the system.

  • In this paper, a monopulse fled for three mode $2{\times}2$ array feed horn antenna was designed. Gain of single feed was 8.25dB. Increasing property of gain and rectangular waveguide and reflection of free space is decreased because it has structure extending to electric plane at connected part from transformation to free space. When fled port1 and port2 is placed vertically and thickness of aperture hem is reduced, isolation is satisfied with property of lower -25dB. Also, at higher frequency, it is confirmed that isolation is improved. Combination of electric field occurs less influence because port1 and port3 is placed horizontally and distribution of electric field is connected to parallel. However, because of combination of electric field, it is more improved from 2dB to 6dB than isolation of port1 and port2. Direct combination occult less effect at port1 and port4 than effect of port2 and port3, it is lower -35dB.

  • Wireless energy supply for an MAV propulsion system using microwave was developed. This system consists of three sub system; the transmitter system, the rectenna system, and the tracking system. In the transmitter system five horn antennas were used as the antenna elements for the phased array system and both the beam divergence and steering angle was about 9deg. Eight rectennas were arrayed in parallel to obtain enough power to drive the electric motor on the MAV(the voltage was 250mV and the current was 6.8mA) in rectenna system. In tracking system two units of antenna system with leaf pattern which received the linearly-polarized wave despite the MAV yaw angle were set in each axis(x, y) for tracking an MAV in a 2-Dimentional space. And three output voltages $V_{com},\;V_1$ and $V_2$ were loaded in the PC to detect if the distance between transmitter and receiver was not constant. Finally when the microwave beam was steered by the phased array system the output voltage from rectenna was measured at 62cm while the MAV circled around above the transmitter system.
