The objectives of this paper were to simply estimate soil loss levels as caused by wind in reclaimed tidal flat land (RTFL) and the threshold wind velocity in the RTFL. For this experiment, RTFL located at Haenam Bay was selected and a total of 150 soil samples were collected at the Ap horizon from the five soil series. The particle distribution curves, including the limit of the non-erodible particle size (D > 0.84 mm) for each Ap horizon soil, show that the proportions of non-erodible particle sizes that exceeded 0.84 mm were 4.3% (Taehan, TH), 8.9% (Geangpo, GP), 0.5% (Bokchun, BC), 1.6% (Poseung, PS) and 1.4% (Junbook, JB), indicating that the amount of non-erodible soil particles increased with an increase in the sand content. The average monthly, daily and instantaneous wind velocities were higher than the threshold friction velocity (TFV) calculated according to the dynamic velocity (Vd) by Bagnold, while the average monthly wind velocity was lower than those of the TFV suggested by the revised wind erosion equation (RWEQ) and wind erosion prediction system (WEPS). The susceptible proportions of erodible soil particles from the Ap horizon soil samples from each soil series could be significantly influenced by the proportion of sand particles between 0.025 and 0.5 mm (or 0.84 mm) in diameter regardless of the threshold wind velocity. Thus, further investigations are needed to estimate more precisely soil erosion in RTFL, which shows various soil characteristics, as these estimations of soil loss in the five soil series were obtained only when considering wind velocities and soil textures.
To understand the weathering processes of the soil by submicroscopic method is very important to realize the properties of the soils. In this study soil formation processes show every steps to the changes in chemical and mechanical properties and the submicroscopic characteristics of soil weathering on the profiles of forest soils derived from granite in southern part of Korea. Fecal pellets(SEM) are given a full detail of the positive activities of the forest soil animals; mainly invertebrates in the O horizon and the E horizon. External shapes of fecal pellets have been divided into five groups : spherical, ellipsoidal, cylindrical, platy and threadlike. But doughnutlike form of fecal pellets is observed in this study. The soluble and suspended materials in the soils move downwards by percolation from the A horizon to the B or the BC horizons, and result in the illuviation cutans(SEM) on the ped surface of the lower horizon and deposited stack of kaolinite. Illuviated cutans are deposited on the ped surface even in the depth of 312cm in the BC horizon as well as the Bt horizon and comprise of fine silt, coarse clay and fine clay. A lot of halloysites are observed on the cutan surface. Halloysite formation from feldspars has been well known but a lot of hallyosite formation are observed in this study. The formation were predicted by Jackson(1962), inferred by Wada and Kakuto(1983a, b) and proved evidently by Cho and Mermut(1992a, b). This also suggests that halloysites in the soils derived from granite are formed a lot from ferruginous chlorites. The release of Fe from the chlorite structure are significant pedogenic processes and newly formed Fe oxides imparted a red color to the soils. The iron oxides particles, which are ejected and recrystalized, aggregate thickly on the edge of the ferruginous chlorites, and this indicates the release of structural Fe from weathered chlorites. Hematites and goethites are frequent in the fine clay in this soils.
This study was conducted to reclassify Yongdang series based on the second edition of Soil Taxonomy : A Basic System of Soil Classification for Making and Interpreting Soil Surveys. Morphological properties of typifying pedon of Yongdang series were investigated and physico-chemical properties were analyzed according to Soil Survey Laboratory Methods Manual. The typifying pedon of Yongdang series has dark reddish brown (5YR 2/3) silt loam Ap horizon (0~14 cm), dark brown (7.5YR 2/3) silt loam BA horizon (14~32 cm), dark brown (7.5YR 2/3) clay loam Bt horizon (32~57 cm), dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) silty clay loam Btx1 horizon (57~110 cm), and dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) silty clay loam Btx2 horizon(more than 110 cm). That occurs on gently sloping lava plain and is derived from baslt materials. The typifying pedon has an argillic horizon from a depth of 32 to more than 110 cm and a fragipan from a depth of 57 to more than 110 cm. That has a base saturation (sum of cations) of 35% or more at 75 cm below the upper boundary of the fragipan. That can be classified as Alfisol, not as Inceptisol. The typifying pedon has udic soil moisture regime, and can be classified as Udalf. That has a fragipan with an upper boundary within 100 cm of the mineral soil surface, and keys out as Fragiudalf. Also that meets the requirements of Typic Fragiudalf. That has 18% to 35% clay at the particle-size control section, and has thermic soil temperature regime. Yongdang series can be classified as fine loamy, mixed, thermic family of Typic Fragiudalfs, not as fine loamy, mixed, thermic family of Aquic Eutrudepts.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the direction or orientation of clay particle movement in argillic horizons (Bt) for clarifying the soil classification of soils. Soil samples were collected from 22 soil series containing Bt horizons. Physical and chemical characteristics and mineral and chemical compositions of clay in the soils were analyzed. Micoromorphological characteristics of the Bt horizons were also investigated with thin sections of the natural undisturbed and oriented soil samples. Average clay content in the Bt horizons was 28% and 1.33 times higher comparing to that in the surface layer. Soil pH was higher, but cation exchange capacity (CEC) and organic matter content were lower in Bt horizon than those in the surface layer. There was an evidence of clay accumulation in Bt horizons of all soil series examined except Bangog series. Although there was an increase of clay content in the horizons in Bangog series, the clay was not originated from illuviation process. The translocation of clay was in the order of an 2:1 expandable clay minerals > 2:1 non-expandable clay minerals > 1:1 clay minerals. The illuvial substances in argillic horizon were composed with clay, amorphous iron and opaque mineral. The micoromorphological features of Bt horizon were void coating, channel infilling and grain coating. There was an apparent boundary between clay coating and the groundmass in residuum and colluvium, but Bt horizon of alluvium was composed of a skew plane amputated by the physical operation.
A column study using artificial acid rain was conducted to evaluate the buffering capacities in soil layer and host rock. In an effort to compare the effect of composition of host root two valleys of which compositions of host rock are different were chosen within the study area and the pHs of the water flowing in the valleys were measured from May, 1996 to October, 1996. The pHs of the artificial acid rain prepared by adding appropriate amounts of both sulfuric and nitric acids to distilled water were 3, 4, and 5, and the column effluents were analyzed for major cations and anions. The cation exchange capacities(CECs) of A Horizon and the B Horizon were 9.68 and 6.16 meq/100g, respectively, Compared to the B Horizon, the pH in the column effluent of A Horizon with larger CEC was higher. The sums of $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Na^{+}$in the column effluents gradually decreased, indicating the loss of CEC by acid rain. The field study showed that pHs of the surface water in the valleys increased as the water flows downwards. The magnitude of this buffering capacity was greater for the valley in which smectite in addition to kaolinite and illite was a weathered product of host rocks. This also indicates that host rock as well as soil layer retains the buffering capacity.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the relict landform development of fluvial terrace and the soil characteristics occurring on the fluvial deposits. The physico-chemical properties of soil that are developed on terrace deposits and X-ray diffraction analysis of clay were investigated specifically. The horizon of $A_1$ consists of silt loam with reddish-brown color (5YR4/3). Its soil structures is a weak, fine, subangular, and blocky, breaking to granular. The horizon of $B_{1t}\;and\;B_{2t}$ are silt clay with either a yellowish red (5YR5/6), bright red (2.5YR4/6) color. This soil structure is weak, subangular, and blocky, with thin discontinuous bright red (2.5YR4/6) clay cutans and soft manganese concretions. This red soil structure is made on heavy-textures. It is packed compactly with parent materials of high fluvial surface sediments, and usually has a $A_1-B_{1t}-B_{2t}-C$ profile, from top to bottom. In most cases, clay accumulation in the B-horizon and clay cutans on ped surfaces are observed, which means the argillic horizon has formed. The soils derived from fluvial surface deposits are associated with soils. The soils on the high fluvial surface are considered to be a kind of paleo-red soil which were developed by strong desilicification and rubefaction, and strong leaching of bases under warmer bio-climatic condition during the old Pleistocene period. According to these morphological and anlaytical characteristics,geomorphological features and bio-climatic conditions under which the soil have developed on the high terrace sediment indicate that the soil should be classified as paleo-red soils.

This study was carried out in order to estimate site indices in un-stocked land by the physico-chemical properties of forest soil and to investigate the distribution of the physico-chemical properties by soil horizons. In Larix leptolepis Gordon stand, 80 sites were selected respectively to A and B horizon in soil. About the analysis method of data there was used stepwise regression analysis. Soil pH and T.N. of the physico-chemical properties turned out to be positively related to the site index. However, O.M. and Avail. $P_2O_5$ in soil were found out negatively related. In the degree of contribution of the variables to site index by each one of the stands, the highly effective variables were Base Sat., C.E.C., Sand, Exch. $Ca^{{+}{+}}$, and Exch. $Mg^{{+}{+}}$ in A horizon, Exch. $Ca^{{+}{+}}$, Base Sat., T.N., Avail. $P_2O_5$, and Clay in B horizon, and Exch. $Ca^{{+}{+}}$ and Base Sat. in both of A and B horizon. In conclusion, these results will provide not only the important criteria for establishment of management forest plan in un-stocked land but also the useful guidance for selecting the suitable sites and trees.
The composition of the nitrogen forms of the organic layer and mineral soil horizons of 8 differing soil type was measured to find a clue to elucidate the problem on the fertility and nitrogen availabilities of forest soils. The ratio of inorganic $N(NH_4-N+NO_3-N)$ to total N was very low in every 0 layer and its maximum was only about 2%. And the inorganic N concentration of every mineral soil horizon was low, and the maximum of its rate to N was 3.7% in surface horizon and about 4.1% in lower horizon. Organic N form of O layer were characterized by the decrease of aminoacid-N, and the increased of hexosamine-N and amide-N according to the advance of decomposing process. The ranges of hydrolyzable-N of every flesh litter, F and H layer of the selected soils were about 80-90% and they- were hardly affected by the differences of tree species and decomposing process. The organic N form of every litter was similar and it was follows : aminoacid-N was not abundant and it ranges were about 40-50%, more than half of hydrolyzable-N. The hexosamine-N was eery poor and it ranged to only 2-7%. The amide-N teas low and about 10-23%. No distinguished difference was seen between the organic N forms of the O layer and surface horizon of dry and wet soils in brown forest soils.

The yield of Treasury of 30 year maturity of USA more than S&P 500 index have more effect for stock price of KEPCO. It is why. That foreign investors through fall of stock price of USA invest for emerging market is less than movement for emerging market of hedge funds through effect of fall of yield of Treasury of 30 year maturity of USA, according to relative effects for stock price of Korea companies. The result of variance decomposition through won/dollar foreign exchange rate, yield of corporate bond of 3 year maturity, Korea Stock Price index(KOSPI), stock price of KEPCO has 81.33% of impulse of KEPCO stock price at short-term horizon, but they have 41.73% at long-term horizon. After one year, they occupy 23.57% and 34.70%. So their effects are increased. By the way, KOSPI and won/dollar foreign exchange rate have relatively more effect for forecast of stock price of KEPCO at short-term & long-term. The won/dollar foreign exchange rate more than KOSPI have more effect for stock price of KEPCO. It is why. The recovery of economic condition through improvement of company revenue causes of rising of KOSPI. But, if persistence of low interest rate continues, fall of won/dollar foreign exchange rate will be more aggravated. And it will give positive effect for stock price of KEPCO. This gives more positive effect at two main reason. Firstly, through fall of won/dollar foreign exchange rate and rising of credit rating of Korea will be followed. Therefore, foreign investors will invest more funds to Korea. Secondly, inflow of foreign investment funds through profit of won/dollar foreign exchange rate and stock investment will be occurred. If appreciation of won against dollar is forecasted, foreign investors will buy won. Through this won, investors will do investment. Won/dollar foreign exchange rate is affected through external factors of yen/dollar foreign exchange rate, etc. Therefore, the exclusion of instable factors for foreign investors through rising of credit rating of Korea is necessary things.
This study was designed to obtain the mean values of thirteen soil physico-chemical properties for different paddy soil management groups, and to serve the basic information for improving the soil using amendments. Computerized data on the results of detailed soil survey were used in this study. The clay contents in the B horizon of paddy soil management groups were 28.3% in the well adapted type, 11.8% in the sandy textured type, and 26.8% in the newly reclaimed type. Soil pH of B horizon in the paddy soil management groups except poorly drained type and acid sulfate type were higher than those of A horizon. In the river side paddy soils of well adapted type, the clay contents of A and B horizons were 16.8%, 23.1%, respectively, and soil organic matter contents of those horizons were 42g/kg, 18g/kg, respectively. And also available phosphate content of well adapted type was higher than the other types. Frequency of distribution of soil organic matter content levels in the B horizons of sandy textured type and newly reclaimed type were higher in the organic matter content range of below 10g/kg. And those of well adapted, poorly drained, and saline type were higher in the organic matter content range of 10~20g/kg. Correlation coefficients between 13 variables in the B horizon of well adapted type were all highly significant at 1% or 5% level, respectively.
