  • The Hopfield model is defined as an adaptive dynamic system. In this paper we propose a modified neural network which is capable of solving linear programming problems and a set of linear equations. The model is directly implemented from the given system, and solves the problem without calculating the inverse of the matrices. We get the better stability results by the addition of scaling property and by using the nonlinearities in the linear programming neural networks.

Retrieval Biases Analysis on Estimation of GNSS Precipitable Water Vapor by Tropospheric Zenith Hydrostatic Models (GNSS 가강수량 추정시 건조 지연 모델에 의한 복원 정밀도 해석)

  • ZHD (Zenith Hydrostatic Delay) model is important parameter in estimating of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) PWV (Precipitable Water Vapor) along with weighted mean temperature. The ZWD (Zenith Wet Delay) is tend to accumulate the ZHD error, so that biases from ZHD will be affected on the precision of GNSS PWV. In this paper, we compared the accuracy of GNSS PWV with radiosonde PWV using three ZHD models, such as Saastamoinen, Hopfield, and Black. Also, we adopted the KWMT (Korean Weighted Mean Temperature) model and the mean temperature which was observed by radiosonde on the retrieval processing of GNSS PWV. To this end, GNSS observation data during one year were processed to produce PWVs from a total of 5 GNSS permanent stations in Korea, and the GNSS PWVs were compared with radiosonde PWVs for the evaluating of biases. The PWV biases using mean temperature estimated by the KWMT model are smaller than radiosonde mean temperature. Also, we could confirm the result that the Saastamoinen ZHD which is most used in the GNSS meteorology is not valid in South Korea, because it cannot be exclude the possibility of biases by latitude or height of GNSS station.

  • It has well known that MUSIC and ESPRIT algorithms estimate angle of arrival(AOA) with high resolution by eigenvalue decomposition of the covariance matrix which were obtained from the array antennas. In the case that 2-D large-sized array antenna is required, however, one of the disadvantages of MUSIC and ESPRIT is that they are computationally ineffective, and then they are difficult to implement in real time. To alleviate the computational complexity, several method using neural model have been study. For multiple signals, those methods require huge training data prior to AOA estimation. This paper proposes the algorithm for AOA estimation by interconnected hopfield neural model. Computer simulations show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, Hopfield & Tank model-like artificial neural network structure is proposed, which can be used for the optimal path planning problems such as the unit commitment problems or the maintenance scheduling problems which have been solved by the dynamic programming method or the branch and bound method. To construct the structure of the neural network, an energy function is defined, of which the global minimum means the optimal path of the problem. To avoid falling into one of the local minima during the optimization process, the simulated annealing method is applied via making the slope of the sigmoid transfer functions steeper gradually while the process progresses. As a result, computer(IBM 386-AT 34MHz) simulations can finish the optimal unit commitment problem with 10 power units and 24 hour periods (1 hour factor) in 5 minites. Furthermore, if the full parallel neural network hardware is contructed, the optimization time will be reduced remarkably.

Binding energy study from photocurrent signal inphotoconductive a $ZnIn_2S_4$ thin films

  • The chalcopyrite $ZnIn_2S_4$ epilayers were grown on the GaAs substrate by using a hot-wall epitaxy (HWE) method. The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the $ZnIn_2S_4$ have been estimated to be 0.1541 eV and 0.0129 eV, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasicubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the ${\Delta}so$ definitely exists in the $\Gamma_5$ states of the valence band of the $ZnIn_2S_4$/GaAs epilayer. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_{1^-}$, $B_{1^-}$, and $C_1$-exciton peaks for n = 1. Also, we obtained the $A_{\infty^-}$ and B-exciton peaks from the PC spectrum at 293 K.

  • This paper presents a HNN(Hopfield Neural Network) model to solve the ORP(Optimal Routing Problem) in DSP(Distribution System Planning). This problem is generally formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem with various equality and inequality constraints. Precedent study[3] considered only fixed cert, but in this paper, we proposed the capability of optimization by fixed cost and variable cost. And suggested the corrected formulation of energy function for improving the characteristics of convergence. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated through the sample distribution planning problem and the simmulation results are presented.

  • The optimal AP placement for wireless LAN is important factor for improving service quality and reducing cost. Logical area property, which is user's frequently posed place, must be considerated for flexible design. This paper proposes optimal multiple AP placement method based on path loss model which is one of radio prediction tool. The proposed method can got flexibility in multiple AP placement using user's defined parameter and tile optimization design uses Hopfield network algorithm The result of simulation shows that the proposed optimization design of multiple AP placement can improve service quality for wireless LAN.

  • This paper proposes a new method for improving the performances of the neural network for optimization using a hyubrid of gradient descent method and dynamic tunneling system. The update rule of gradient descent method, which has the fast convergence characteristic, is applied for high-speed optimization. The update rule of dynamic tunneling system, which is the deterministic method with a tunneling phenomenon, is applied for global optimization. Having converged to the for escaping the local minima by applying the dynamic tunneling system. The proposed method has been applied to the travelling salesman problems and the optimal task partition problems to evaluate to that of hopfield model using the update rule of gradient descent method.

  • In order to understand the pathogenesis and progression of some synaptic loss related neuropsychiatric diseases, We attempted to develop a computer model in this study. We made a simple autoassociative memory network remembering numbers, transformed it into a disease model by pruning synapses, and measured its memory performance as a function of synaptic deletion. Decline in performance was measured as amount of synaptic loss increases and its mode of decline is sudden or gradual according to the mode of synaptic pruning. The developed computer model demonstrated how synaptic loss could cause memory impairment through a series of computer simulations, and suggested a new way of research in neuropsychiatry.

Growth and photocurrent study on the splitting of the valence band for $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin film by hot wall epitaxy (Hot Wall Epitaxy(HWE)범에 의한 $CuInSe_2$ 단결정 박막 성장과 가전자대 갈라짐에 대한 광전류 연구)

  • A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal electric furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $_CuInSe2$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $620^{\circ}C$ and $410^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin films measured with Hall effect by van der Pauw method are $9.62\times10^{16}/\textrm{cm}^3$, 296 $\textrm{cm}^2$/Vㆍs at 293 K, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CuInSe_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T) = 1.1851 eV -($8.99\times10^{-4} eV/K)T^2$(T + 153 K). The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the CuInSe$_2$ have been estimated to be 0.0087 eV and 0.2329 eV at 10 K, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasicubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the Δso definitely exists in the $\Gamma$6 states of the valence band of the $CuInSe_2$. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_1-, B_1$-와 $C_1$-exciton peaks for n = 1.
