Methods: A total of 2,846 kindergartens were selected from the I-Sarang portal service for analyzing operation, and 217 self-operating homepages were selected for evaluating management. Seven evaluation items from three domains (information gathering procedures and scope, information security, and management of file exposure protection) were used. Wireshark and Google were used for analyzing some evaluation items. Results: The operating ratio of kindergarten homepages was low and most of the kindergartens self-operated their homepages. The evaluation of the information gathering procedures and scope showed that the rule of consent process was not rigidly followed but that the rule of legality for information gathering was followed. Items related to information security were followed at very low levels. As for the management of file exposure protection, the evaluation of items related to the prevention of attachment disclosure showed that the rule of protecting personal information included in an attached file was followed but that the notice regarding information protection was not. Across all evaluation items, the level of personal information management was higher in public (vs. private) kindergartens. Conclusion: These results indicate methods to more securely and effectively manage personal information on kindergarten homepages.

  • Nowadays the information environment enables users to access the traditional library collection as well as various digital information resources. In this rapidly changing environment, the use of digital information resources such as web sites, data, and homepages has increased. In this research, highly-cited authors' research outcomes as well as the research outcomes of the people, who cited the highly-cited authors' works, were extracted then compared with information stored in the medical colleges' digital libraries and the academic information portals in the clinical medicine area by using the citation information provided by Essential Science Indicators from ISI Web of knowledge. Out of 10,000 authors,146 people's homepages, which present research outcomes, were analyzed. The research outcomes listed in the homepages included journal papers, monographs, conference proceedings, and lecture notes. About 15% of the journal papers, 32% of the monographs, 48% of the conference proceedings, and 100% of lecture notes were accessible only through the homepages. The research outcomes accessible from the homepages were almost analogous to the ones available through the medical college's digital libraries and the academic information portals. Therefore, the digital library collection will be improved and expanded quantitatively and qualitatively by collecting and using the information in the homepages of the prestigious researchers.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the current state of illegal distribution of literary works on internet cafes and homepages, and figure out how to protect the rights of copyright holders. For this study, examined were the cafes and menus of homepages of major Websites on the Internet, where illegal copying and delivery of literary works could happen. For each Website, the volumes of the entire collection, the number of literary works held, the maximum and average number of transactions were investigated, and literary works categorized according to genres were analyzed. The result shows that the strict legislation and regulation by government or copyright organizations could hinder the positive distribution of awareness about the copyright : but, still strongly needed is the promotion and education of the importance of copyright to help the public understand better. Providers of portal services should take a proper step to strengthen the training of and systematic support for copyright-related issues for both operators and users of cafes and homepages on Websites.
