Two apartment complexes, which were relatively well equipped with home automation systems compared to other recently built apartments, were selected to perform the survey by digital home residents who were housewives and have lived in current home more than 6 months. The researcher developed a survey questionnaire for each apartment complex and collected data from 501 residents from May to June, 2008. The results of the study found low awareness and low uses of remote control systems of electric appliances through a cellular phone or PC from outside. Also, the significant variables which showed group differences in level of uses and satisfation were age, annual income, duration of residence, and level of considering home automation system before decision to move in. The results of the study also revealed that frequent breakdown was the most critical problem using home automation systems. Generally, using home automation systems affected to residents' life changes positively. More findings and suggestions for development of more user-friendly digital home services were discussed.

Third, the experts evaluated that the objectives of home economics science were too technically presented, and pointed out that the objectives are not distinct from those of prior home economics courses as they are too general and abstract. Fourth, the experts evaluated that the content of home economics science was deficient in its hierarchy and integration. Moreover, the contents do not sufficiently reflect the characters of the learners or their social demands. Fifth, the experts evaluated that the teaching/learning methods of home economics science were stated for the sake of formality only. Even though it provides many methods, it is not practical in the current educational situation. Sixth, the experts evaluated that although home economics science provides various methods of assessment, it has practical difficulties under current educational circumstances. Besides, the assessment methods failed to give concrete and objective standards.

  • Since Cyber Home Learning is an e-learning system promoted with policy goals of reducing private tutoring costs, solving gaps among regions, and improving scholastic attainments, preceding researches to verify its effects have been developed of evaluation standards focused on achievement of its policy goals rather than educational goals. The evaluation standards suggested in preceding researches have limitations in clearly reviewing Cyber Home Learning's effects by teaching-learning activities factors and Cyber Home Learning's improvement related to teaching-learning activities. Therefore, an evaluation model capable of analyzing effects of Cyber Home Learning from pedagogical aspect is required. The goal of this paper is to design pedagogical evaluation model according to teaching-learning activities factors and analyze effects of Cyber Home Learning. For the goal, researches from Korea and abroad related to Cyber Home Learning have been examined, pedagogical evaluation model was designed according to teaching-learning activities factors, and the model was then experimented through survey and in-depth interview on students who used Cyber Home Learning. It is expected that results of this paper can be used as a basic data to improve quality of Cyber Home Learning service for teaching-learning activities, and will contribute to establishment of more developmental Cyber Home Learning policy in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply a teaching-learning plan of apartment house class to improve middle school students' empathy for home economics education and to verify its effect. The study was conducted in five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation using the ADDIE model. In the analysis phase, the study set learning objectives after analyzing how community housing is dealt with in the 2015 revised home economics curriculum and 12 current technology and home economics textbooks. In the design and development stage, in order to evaluate the validity of the experts and to improve the empathy ability, the study goal design, the composition of the learning elements, the development of the learning materials, and the pre and post-questionnaire for the students were developed. In the implementation stage, the empathic ability evaluation was carried out before and after the beginning of the first class by applying the teaching-learning process plan of the 8th class. In the evaluation stage, we examined whether the teaching-learning process developed in this study has a significant effect on empathy ability by evaluating the pre-post difference of empathy ability. As a result of examining the results of the pre - and post - evaluation of empathy ability for the results of this study, both cognitive and communicative factors were improved, and the apartment house class had a significant effect on the improvement of empathy ability.

After initial evaluation, parents were educated on sensory diet and Wilbarger protocol method for 30 minutes twice for home-based treatment and asked to make out daily treatment planning. To measure improvement of children, we used for the Denver Developmental Screening Test II(DDST II), Wee Functional Independence Measure(WeeFIM), hand function, functional ability, oral motor function, Sensory Profile(Dunn, 1999). Results : After the home-based program, the scored of the Denver Developmental Screening Test II(DDST II), Wee Functional Independence Measure(WeeFIM), hand function, functional ability, oral motor function, Sensory Profile(Dunn, 1999) were higher rather than initial evaluation after the home-based program. Conclusion : The home-based program is effective for children with sensory modulation disorder but parents had to be educated by therapist specific evaluation and treatment in sensory integration.

  • Purpose: This study conducted an economic evaluation of hospital-based home care services for the patients who had undergone breast cancer surgery. Methods: A total of 12,483 patients over 18 years of age who had received breast cancer surgery in 26 tertiary hospitals in 2018 were analyzed with the claim data from the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service using cost-minimization analysis and societal perspectives. Results: There were 156 patients who utilized hospital-based home care services within 30 days after breast cancer surgery, and they received 2.17 (SD=1.17) hospital-based home care service on average. The average total cost was 5,250,028 KRW (SD=1,905,428) for the group receiving continuous hospital-based home care and 6,113,402 KRW (SD=2,033,739) for the group not receiving continuous hospital-based home care (p<.001). The results of the economic evaluation of continuous hospital-based home care services in patients who had undergone breast cancer surgery indicated a total benefit of 953,691,000 KRW, a total cost of 819,004,000 KRW, and a benefit-cost ratio of 1.16 in 2018. Conclusion: Continuous hospital-based home care was considered economically feasible as the total costs for the group receiving continuous hospital-based home care were lower than those of the group not receiving continuous hospital-based home care. Therefore, policy modification and financial incentives are recommended to increase the utilization of hospital-based home care services for patients who had undergone breast cancer surgery.
