  • This study introduces a prototype for a virtual zoo initiative, aimed at optimizing resource utilization and minimizing animal displacement from their natural habitats. The prototype features a thoughtfully developed three-dimensional representation of an emperor penguin, with animations designed to emulate real-life behaviors. An investigation into file format distinctions for scientific research, encompassing Wavefront(OBJ), Collada(DAE), and Filmbox(FBX) formats, was conducted. The research utilized the Hololens 2 device for visualization, Unity for environment development, Blender for modeling, and C# for programming, with deployment facilitated through Visual Studio 2019 and the Mixed Reality Toolkit. Empirical examination revealed the OBJ format's suitability for simple geometric shapes, while DAE and FBX formats were preferred for intricate models and animations. DAE files offer detailed preservation of object structure and animations albeit with larger file sizes, whereas FBX files provide compactness but may face scalability constraints due to extensive data integration. This investigation underscores the potential of virtual zoos for conservation and education, advocating for further exploration and context-specific implementation.

  • In this paper, we describe real-time optical implementation of the Hopfield neural network model for two-dimensional associative memory by using commercial LCTV and Multifocus For real-time processing capability, we use LCTV as a memory mask and a input spatial light modulator. Inner product between input pattern and memory matrix is processed by the multifocus holographic lens. The output signal is then electrically thresholded fed back to the system input by 2-D CCD camera. From the good experimental results, the proposed system can be applied to pattern recognition and machine vision in future.

  • In this paper, optical inplementation of the Hopfield neural network model for two-dimensinal associative memory is described For the real-time processing of two-dimensional images, the commercial LCTVs are used as a memory mask and an input spatical light modulator. A 4-D memory matrix is realized with a 2-D mask of a matrix arrangement and the inner-products between arbitrary input pattern and memory matrix are carried out by using the multifocus hololens. The output image is then electronically thresholded and fed back to the input of the associative memory system by 2-D CCd camera. From the good experimental results for the high error correction capability, the proposed system can be applied to practical pattern recognition and machine vision systems.

  • In this paper, we proposed an augmented reality(AR) service for the Great Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Beakje - one of Korea's national treasures - using smart glasses. The proposed AR service was developed using Microsoft's HoloLens 2, MRTK, and Unity programs. The proposed service starts when the user wears HoloLens 2 and looks at a QR code next to the displayed the Great Gilt-bronze Incense Burner. Then, the proposed service visually provides users with the historical explanation of the Great Gilt-bronze Incense Burner and the objects in it. In particular, the proposed service augments virtual 5 musicians of the Great Gilt-bronze Incense Burner so that users can experience the performance culture of the Baekje era. Therefore, we can provide users with the value and meaning of the cultural heritage of the Baekje era as an expanded experience by using the virtual 5 musicians to overcome the current temporal and spatial constraints. We can confirm whether the proposed AR service is provided to users through HoloLens 2, in harmony with the Great Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje, a cultural heritage.
