Analysis of restoration network for phase-only hologram scaling (위상 홀로그램 스케일링을 위한 복원 네트워크 분석)

  • In the image upscaling field, the method using deep learning is showing better results than using the interpolation method. And for hologram upscaling, using deep learning is showing better results than general interpolation. In this paper, the network structure and learning results are analyzed. The learning results are compared by adjusting the depth of the network and the number of channels at the same weight.

  • Recently, digitizing technologies for conservation and restoration of tangible intangible cultural properties are coming into spotlight. Because cultural properties are easy to be lost and damaged over the years, After construction of cultural assets database we can reconstruct the cultural asset making use of the reverse engineering when needed, and implement digital contents such as computer graphics, 3D virtural realization, hologram, etc. So in this paper, we scrutinize visual and technical factors occurring in different types of digital restoration of cultural properties, and present problems and improvements, and try to research technological prowess and visual mechanism.

  • The selective frequency analysis method is suggested in the holographic data storage system with the nyquist aperture to reduce the size of hologram. The image filter was designed with many different methods to improve the bit error rate caused by the nyquist aperture. In previous the methods of image restoration for HDS, an iteration time and a highly precise point spread function were necessary. In this paper, we describe the optical system with analytic method. Thereby, we expect our result help the researchers to design the filter.

  • Phase conjugate wavefront generation via real-time holography in degenerate four-wave mixing experiments in photo-refractive crystal $Bi_{12}$ Si $O_{20}$ is presented. Depending on the respective values of applied field $E_o$ and fringe spacing, drift or diffusion of the photecarriers dominates the space-charge buildup and affects the Phasa- Conjugate Wavefront intensity. The experimental results for wavefront reflectivity as a function of the intensity ratio of the writing beams agree with the theoretical predictions.

  • 본 연구는 딥러닝 기반의 복원 모델을 사용하여, 비디오 압축을 통해 변질된 위상 홀로그램의 화질을 복원하는 방법을 제안한다. 압축 효율을 위해 위상 홀로그램의 해상도를 감소시킨 후 압축한다. 원래의 해상도로 되돌린 홀로그램을 딥러닝 모델을 사용하여 복원한다. 복원된 위상 홀로그램은 원본 홀로그램을 압축한 것보다 동일한 BPP에서 더 높은 PSNR을 보인다.

  • This paper proposes a method to solve problems that may occur when SPIHT(set partition in hierarchical trees) is used in a dedicated codec for compressing complex holograms with ultra-high resolution. The development of codecs for complex holograms can be largely divided into a method of creating dedicated compression methods and a method of using anchor codecs such as HEVC and JPEG2000 and adding post-processing techniques. In the case of creating a dedicated compression method, a separate conversion tool is required to analyze the spatial characteristics of complex holograms. Zero-tree-based algorithms in subband units such as EZW and SPIHT have a problem that when coding for high-resolution images, intact subband information is not properly transmitted during bitstream control. This paper proposes a method of dividing wavelet subbands to solve such a problem. By compressing each divided subbands, information throughout the subbands is kept uniform. The proposed method showed better restoration results than PSNR compared to the existing method.

  • Holography technology which was developed by Dennis Gabor (1900~1979) in 1948 is a technology to record wave planes of actual 3D objects. It is known as the only technology which can express 3D information most perfectly close to human-friendly. Holography technology is widely used in advertisement, architecture and arts as well as science technology areas. Especially, digital holographic print which is an applied area is greatly used in military map, architecture map and cultural asset restoration by printing and reproducing 3D information. Holography is realized by recording and reproducing the amplitude and phase information on high resolution film using coherent light like laser. Recording materials for digital holographic printer are silver halide, photoresist and photopolymer. Because the materials have different diffraction efficiency according to film characteristics of each manufacturer, appropriate guide lines should be suggested through efficiency analysis of each film. This paper suggests appropriate guide lines through the diffraction efficiency measurement of silver halide which is a holographic printer recording medium. And the objective of this study is to suggest appropriate guide lines through diffraction efficiency analysis of Ultimate 08-C and PFG-03C which are commercially used. The experiment was prepared by self-diffraction efficiency system which measures the strength with the defector by penetrating RGB recording medium and concentrating diffracted beams through collimating lens. The experiment showed Geola's PFG-03C which is a silver halide for full color has price/performance advantage in optical hologram recording, but recording angles and reproduction angles are irregular for digital holographic printer recording. Ultimate's Ultimate08-C for full color shows its diffraction efficiency is relatively stable and high according to recording angles and laser wavelength.
