  • Recently, KTX (Korean Train Express) train stoppage accidents were mainly caused by malfunctioning equipment, aging and cracking of railway vehicles, crack breakages of brake disks, and breakages of brake disks. Breakage of brake disk can cause large-scale casualties such as high-speed collision and concern about derailment by hitting lower axle and wheel. Therefore, in this study, a brake disk with solid and ventilation type, which is the brake disk of a KTX train was modeled, and a dynamometer system was constructed to operate the disk. A Rayleigh wave was used to inspect the surface of the brake disk. An ultrasonic inspection module was developed for the brake disk by using a local immersion method due to the difficulty involved in ultrasonic inspection using an existing immersion method. In addition, the surface defects of the brake disk were evaluated using a dynamometer mock-up system and an ultrasonic inspection module of the brake disk.

  • As an effort to maximize the immersiveness of user experience in virtual reality, there have been constant efforts to provide a user with tactile sensation by providing haptic feedback. Most of the haptic feedback methods, however, can create only limited or unrealistic haptic sensations since they utilize affordable actuators such as a vibrotactile actuator. When it comes to martial arts training or a game, the limitation of such haptic feedback is apparent due to the significant difference between the physical impact of hitting an object and the sensation departed from a vibrotactile actuator. Noting this, we proposed a haptic impact system that can create a haptic impact when the user hits a virtual object with the fist. The haptic interface uses a quick-return mechanism that can deliver haptic impact feedback to a user's fist. The realism of the haptic impact was evaluated by conducting a human-subject experiment. The results indicate a significant effect of haptic feedback on the realism of the virtual impact.

  • Nowadays, 3-D(Three-dimensions) is used in various field such as Games, Movies, Animations etc. Especially the Role of 3-D computer graphic is being generalized by turnover of Screen from '2-dimensional' to '3-dimensional'. There are not enough data about 'Motion Capture' even though it plays main function in 3-dimensional movement. 'Motion Capture' could be also unfamiliar for people. And as a matter of fact, the use of this equipment is limited due to its high cost. Therefore, I studied the outline of Digital Motion Capture system and its application to 3-D game Character Animation. And I checked the movement of 3-D Character after transplanting the Motion Data to the 3-D Character. I acquired Motion Data by Optical Motion Capture Equipment which we possess and transplanted it into the 3-D Character then Implemented it as walking, running and hitting which are the basic motions of Expression.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive sliding mode control with radial basis function neural network(RBFNN) scheme to enhance the performance of position and attitude tracking control of quadrotor UAV. The RBFNN is utilized on the approximation of nonlinear function in the UAV dynmic model and the weights of the RBFNN are adjusted online according to adaptive law from the Lyapunov stability analysis to ensure the state hitting the sliding surface and sliding along it. In order to compensate the network approximation error and eliminate the existing chattering problems, the sliding mode control term is adjusted by adaptive laws, which can enhance the robust performance of the system. The simulation results of the proposed control method confirm the effectiveness of the proposed controller which applied for a nonlinear quadrotor UAV is presented. Form the results, it's shown that the developed control system is achieved satisfactory control performance and robustness.

  • In this study, weight carrying pattern analysis and comparison method of four foot region were suggested. We used three types of club(driver, iron7, pitching wedge). This analysis method can compare between top class golfer and beginner. And the comparison data can be used to correct the swing pose of trainee. If motion analysis system, which can measure the swing speed and instantaneous acceleration at the point of hitting a ball, is combined with this plantar foot force analysis method, new design development of golf shoes to increase comfort and ball flight distance will be available. 1. • To assess the possible collision risk between Mokpo Harbour Bridge, which is under construction, and passing vessels, we proposed Real-Time Bridge-Vessel Collision Model (RT-BVCM) in this paper. The mathematical model of RT-BVCM consists of the causation probability by the vessel aberrancy due to navigation environments, the geometric probability by the structural feature of a bridge relative to a ship size and, the failure probability by the ship collision track and the stopping distance which is not to come to a stop before hitting the obstacles. Then, the probabilistic mathematical model represented as risk index with the risk level from 1 to 5. The merit of the proposed model to the collision model proposed by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) is that it can provide enough time to take adequate collision avoiding action. Through the simulation tests to the two kinds of test ships, 3,000 GT and 10,000 GT, it is cleary found that the proposed model can be used as a collision evaluation model to the passing vessel and Mokpo Harbour Bridge.

  • The sleeper floating track (STEDEF) in this study was a track type in which a very soft resilience pad was installed under a relatively thin concrete sleeper (RC Block). Therefore it was expected that the resilience pad could affect the estimation results of the concrete strength. In this study, field applicability evaluation was performed to apply the rebound hardness test method, which was a general method for estimating the compressive strength of concrete in civil structures, to concrete sleepers of railway tracks. In order to analyze the strength estimation technique of concrete sleepers reflecting the characteristics of track structures different from those of civil structures, the parameter experiments that could affect the strength estimation results of concrete sleepers in a serviced line were performed. As a result of the study, the appropriate hitting position was suggested considering the shape of the concrete sleeper, and the difference in strength estimation results according to the condition of the concrete sleeper and supporting conditions was derived.

  • This study simulated the shock wave propagation through the tamping material between explosives and hole wall at blasting works and verified the effect of tamping materials. The Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian(ALE) method was selected to model the mixture of solid (Lagrangian) and fluid (Eulerian). The time series analysis was carried out during blasting process time. Explosives and tamping materials (air or water) were modeled with finite element mesh and the hole wall was assumed as a rigid body that can determine the propagation velocity and shock force hitting the hole wall from starting point (explosives). The numerical simulation results show that the propagation velocity and shock force in case of water were larger than those in case of air. In addition, the real site at blasting work was modeled and simulated. The rock was treated as elasto-plastic material. The results demonstrate that the instantaneous shock force was larger and the demolished block size was smaller in water than in air. On the contrary, the impact in the back side of explosives hole was smaller in water, because considerable amount of shock energy was used to demolish the rock, but the propagation of compression through solid becomes smaller due to the damping effect by rock demolition. Therefore, It can be proven that the water as the tamping media was more profitable than air.
