첨성대축조 규준방식과 드잡이기술에 대한 기술사적 접근 연구 (The Study on the Construction Criteria and Dujabee Technique of the Construction of the Cheomseongdae)

  • 본 연구는 고건축 기술사적 관점에서 첨성대 축조당시 가설공법을 규명하고자 하였다. 독특한 구조와 형태로 이루어진 첨성대는 그동안 많은 관심을 끌며 연구되어왔으나 고건축 기술사적 측면에서 접근한 사례를 보기 어렵다. 더욱이 첨성대 축조기술에 관한 연구는 고건축 기술사적 고찰기반이 취약한 추론으로 전개되어 있으므로 많은 의문점을 남기고 있다. 여러 가지 의문점 가운데 가설공법에 대한 논의는 고건축시공 규준방식과 드잡이에 관한 기술사적(技術史的) 고찰을 결여한 추론으로 전개되어 있으므로 신빙성 있는 역사적 사실규명으로 보기 어렵게 한다. 연구결과 첨성대축조 가설공법에 대한 규명은 실제유구가 남아있지 않아 직접 고찰에 한계가 있었으나, 그간의 오류 폭을 좁히고 기초자료 제공에 의한 기술사(技術史) 연구 활성화를 기대할 수 있게 되었다. 주요 연구결과는 세 가지로 정리되었다. 1. 원통형 구조로 이루어진 첨성대축조 규준방식은 또한 +자먹 규구법과 다림추를 이용한 준승방식에 기초한 중심축 규준을 적용하였음으로 고찰되었다. 2. 첨성대 축석공사는 규구준승에 기초한 규준방식과 부합하는 드잡이공사 방법으로 녹로사용 가능성이 고찰 검토되었다. 3. 첨성대축조 규준과 드잡이기술에 대한 고찰 결과 규구준승에 의한 규준방식과 녹로(??)를 이용한 드잡이공사는 축석공사에 별도로 운반을 위한 비계가설을 요하지 않는 고건축 시공기술로 고찰되었다.

전통건축에 사용된 자귀의 형태 변화에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Change of Shape of "Jagui" (Adze) Used in Korean Traditional Architecture)

  • The Axes and Adzes are the oldest tools since the beginning of human history which is used to cut the tree and make part of architecture such as boards, square timber etc. Nowadays, these old woodworking tools especially "Jagui(자귀)" (adze) has been almost disappeared at the working site of residential and cultural properties. It is necessary to study Korean traditional woodworking tools to keep Korean traditional skill and technology. It has been reviewed the change of shape of "Jagui(자귀)" (adze) from before Samhan (삼한) period to Joseon Dynasty through excavated relics and paintings and summarize as follows: Based on excavation relics of Dahori, both plate type blade and pocket type blade are used for "Tokki(도끼)" (axe) and "Jagui(자귀)" (adze). The excavated "Jagui(자귀)" (adze) from Jeongbaikri 356 tomb, near Pyongyang is prototype of "Jagui(자귀)" (adze) used nowdays which has almost same shape as well as the insert method of blade and handle. The auxiliary handle is inserted to blade and the main handle is inserted to the auxiliary handle which is different from the method of Chinese and Japanese "Jagui(자귀)" (adze). The length of handle of "Jagui(자귀)" (adze) until late Joseon Dynasty is short by which we assume it is used for a sitting position as hand held Jagui and from that time long handle has been introduced for a standing position which is called "Sunjagui(선자귀)". "Jagui(자귀)" (adze) has been used since the beginning of human history but it is almost disappeared at the most of woodworking site which is the crisis of Korean traditional architecture and we have to do something to keep it.

조경기사 필기시험 중 한국조경사 문제의 출제 경향 (The Tendency of the Written Test Questions for the History of Korean Landscape Architecture in National Qualification Test of a Landscape Engineer)

  • 본 연구는 2005년부터 2014년까지 10년간 축적된 국가기술자격검정 조경기사 필기시험 중 조경사 과목의 문항을 대상으로 하여 한국조경사 문제의 출제 경향을 고찰하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국산업인력공단에서 제공한 출제기준은 조경사를 구성하는 다섯 가지 영역으로 구성되어 있다. 그중에서 최근 '서양의 조경'에 대한 문항의 출제 비율이 낮아진 반면에 '한국의 조경'에 대한 문항의 출제 비율이 높아지고 있다. 둘째, '한국의 조경'에 대한 문항에서 약 30여 종의 전통수종과 11가지 유형의 전통조경 시설물이 포함되는 전통조경요소가 다루어졌다. 또한 역사서, 지리서, 실학서, 원예서, 문집 및 기타, 정원도 및 회화자료로 분류되는 전통조경 관련 기록물 25개가 제시되었다. 다음으로 고대부터 조선시대까지 궁원의 조영 시기와 관련된 왕, 별서의 조영자나 소유자, 기록물의 저자, 중국 문인으로 구성되는 인물들이 문항에 등장하였다. 셋째, '한국의 조경'에 대한 문항 중에서 선사시대와 발해시대에 해당하는 문제는 없었으며 조선시대에 집중 분포되었다. 이에 조선시대로 한정하여 고찰한 전통공간 사례지는 별서가 가장 많았고, 도성 궁궐, 주택, 누 정 대, 서원 순서였으며, 읍성과 사찰의 사례지는 낙안읍성과 용주사뿐이었다. 넷째, 조선시대 전통공간과 관련하여 사례지의 조성 시기, 조영자, 입지 특성, 건축 구조, 평면 형태, 정원 구성 요소에 대한 세부적 내용 파악이 요구되었다. 또한 한국조경사 교재 9권으로부터 문항에서 추출한 전통공간 사례지의 출현 여부를 검토한 결과 동춘당, 풍암정사, 십청정, 곡수대, 유상대, 심곡서원은 등장하지 않았다. 연구 결과를 통해서 보편성이 결여된 지엽적 사실에 대한 정보를 묻는 문제, 조경사 교재에서 파악하기 어려운 정보와 대상지가 포함된 문제 등과 같은 한국조경사 기출문제에 대한 점검이 필요하다는 사실을 확인하였다.

  • If we compare socio-cultural aspects of the two historical periods known as 'pre-modern' 'modern,' it would seem that the Aristotelian understanding of technology has difficulty explaining techno-cultural phenomenon of modern society. The problems are first that the discourse of scientific technology in the modern period has proceeded without a metaphysical base, and second that nothing in present culture regulates the limitations of scientific technology. The clear distinction between means and ends in the traditional approach is no longer valid in the jumble of interrelationships. Such complexity forces us to acknowledge that means and ends are relative and interchangeable, and that neither has a clear moral superiority over the other. Technology in modern society is no more a neutral means. The products of science do not always exist to serve human ends. In modem architecture and urban design, both its productive and destructive tendencies leave man and his society in an endless confusion of complexity and opposition. These problems of technology still result in unsolved question today. On this point, the discussion another currently prevalent attitude to technology, especially Heideggerian thinking in the below could give a somewhat clearer answer to the problem of modem architecture and technology, although it also comprises limited contemplation in itself.

CNN-based Gesture Recognition using Motion History Image

  • In this paper, we present a CNN-based gesture recognition approach which reduces the memory burden of input data. Most of the neural network-based gesture recognition methods have used a sequence of frame images as input data, which cause a memory burden problem. We use a motion history image in order to define a meaningful gesture. The motion history image is a grayscale image into which the temporal motion information is collapsed by synthesizing silhouette images of a user during the period of one meaningful gesture. In this paper, we first summarize the previous traditional approaches and neural network-based approaches for gesture recognition. Then we explain the data preprocessing procedure for making the motion history image and the neural network architecture with three convolution layers for recognizing the meaningful gestures. In the experiments, we trained five types of gestures, namely those for charging power, shooting left, shooting right, kicking left, and kicking right. The accuracy of gesture recognition was measured by adjusting the number of filters in each layer in the proposed network. We use a grayscale image with 240 × 320 resolution which defines one meaningful gesture and achieved a gesture recognition accuracy of 98.24%.

A Comparison Study on Accredited Architectural Education Contents between US and Korea

  • Since 2002, Architecture Schools in Korea was changing long traditional architectural education system from 4 years generalized architectural engineering curriculum to 5 years professional architecture program. Until 2010, 76 architecture schools have changed their program to 5 years course which was focused to design studio education. It was a very rapid change and there was not much time develop their own system which could represent institutional identity, character of students and local environment. Korea joined as a regular member of Canberra Accord in 2010 and it is meaningful to compare Korean architecture program contents to another country education contents. US architecture programs were selected for this comparison study. The goals of this study are to create a comparable understanding the form of contents of Architectural Education in US and Korea and to verify the substantial equivalence of these systems. To achieve above goals, three public institutes of each country were selected and analyzed with general information, history, resources, curriculum and the matrix of Student Performance Criteria for quantitative comparison. For qualitative comparison education context of programs were analyzed with program missions, the way of advising, professional connection and distribution of faculty loads.

베를린 필하모니 콘서트홀에 나타난 한스 샤룬의 건축적 특성 연구 (A Study on Hans Scharoun's Architectural Characteristics of Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall)

  • Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall is one of most prominent architecture of Hans Scharoun, which is known as the fine combination of the functionalism as an important factor in modern architecture and the hi-developed technology Moreover, the plan and spatial planning of the concert hall is famous for its evolutionary approach compared to other traditional concert halls. The objective of this paper is to examine forms and organic system of functions of this concert hall in order to re-evaluate it's historical meanings in our modern architecture history, The current study will also look into how the personal background of Hans Scharoun has influenced his design in various ways, especially the inside of lobby and auditorium of Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall.

중국 민속(民俗)마을의 전통(傳統)색채 분석에 관한 연구 - 북경(北京)시 문두구(門頭溝)구 천저하마을(爨底下村)을 대상으로 - (A Study on the Traditional Color Analysis of Chinese Historic Village - Focus on Cuandixia Village of Mentougou District in Beijing -)

  • 본 연구는 전통민속마을에 대한 정체성을 고찰하고자 중국 천저하 민속마을을 대상으로 전통 민속마을의 색채적 특성을 분석하였다. 연구방법으로 한국표준색분석(KSCA: Korea Standard Color Analysis) 프로그램을 이용하여 색채를 분석하고 'I.R.I 형용사 Image Scale'을 통해 색채이미지에 대한 특성을 도출하였다. 이에 따른 연구결과로 첫째, 천저하마을의 색상 분포는 YR, R, Y, GY 계열의 순으로 나타났고, G계열과 BG계열, B계열은 전혀 나타나지 않은 반면 YR계열의 색상이 많은 것이 두드러진 특징이다. 둘째, 명도와 채도에 있어서는 전체가 중명도와 저채도에 해당하는 색채로 이루어져 있었다. 특히 상업고택에서만 고채도가 추출되었고 나머지는 모두 저채도 위주의 중 저채도의 색채로 이루어져 있었다. 셋째, KS계통색(KS Color System)의 분석 결과 대부분 어두운 색이 도출되었으며 그중에서도 어두운 적회색과 갈회색이 많은 부분을 차지하고 있었다. 넷째, 마을의 전체적인 분위기는 정적이고 딱딱한 분위기이고 점잖은 이미지로 조사되었다. 이상의 연구를 통해 전통마을의 보전 관리에 있어 추출 된 색채 팔레트를 참고하여 국가와 지역적 특색이 반영된 색채계획이 필요할 것으로 본다. 더불어 해당 마을의 문화가 반영된 색채는 보전하고 주변 환경과의 조화를 고려한 색채계획을 적용한다면 민속마을의 정체성 있는 색채 연출에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

  • The traditional Korean heating system ondol, one of the most important characteristics of Korean architecture, still remains as hydronic floor heating. Various studies have been conducted on the modernization of ondol, but the process of introducing the hydronic floor heating has not been seriously studied so far. Therefore, this paper aims to demonstrate how the hydronic floor heating had been introduced to Korea, taking the 1950s and 1960s Haengchon, Jongam, and Mapo Apartments for example - these three are regarded as the first Korean apartment houses after the Korean War. While Western advanced construction technology was imported for these apartments, various methods of modernizing ondol were also considered. What was remarkable in these attempts is that hydronic floor heating first appeared in Mapo 1st Apartment in 1962, because this is the universal heating method in the present Korea. This fact signifies that the traditional principle of floor heating has been maintained, and it would also be meaningful in terms of architectural exchanges between East and West, if considered along with Wright's application of the Korean heating principle to his houses since 1930s.

근대건축과 철구조의 디자인특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design Characteristics of Steel Frame in Modern Architecture)

  • This research aims at proving the fact that the forms, spaces and many other design concepts of Modernism are much related with the changes of materials, struc-tures, and the way of construction as well as the idealis-tic and aesthestic things through the history of steel, one of the most important materials of the style. The meaning steel has in the modern architecture can be studied in the structure and industrial production system. 1) Steel frame broadened the range of understanding the space and created the new form through the skeleton/skin structure by reinterpreting the existing space fac-tors while it was being adopted to the architecture. Walls could be freed from the traditional function of bear-ing wall and roofs gave the transparancy to the interior by being linked with the glass. Posts lost the function which confines the space in the frame of the grid system and gave the flexibility to the interior due to the economical materials. These changes made the movable partition, screen with various materials and the system furniture which divides the space more important. 2) In the aspect of the industrialized architecture, it be-came the moment that the most of the archtectural com-posing parts were in mass production as they were standarized, high qualified, and generalized by the indus-trial characteristics of steel, and the specialization of structure and cladding, but the neither of the efforts to make the building itself by mass production or to standarize it was fulfilled. The high-tech architecture which borrows its archtectural manifestation from the high technology, however, is consistently paying efforts on such industrialization.
