삼척 죽서루의 증축과정과 공포형식 고찰 (A Study on the Expansion and bracket type of Samcheok Jukseoru)

  • Jukseoru is a pavilion building located in 44 Jukseoru-gil, Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do. Jukseoru is characterized by the fact that the center 5 bays out of the front 7 bays are in the form of Jusimpo, while the ends of each side are in the form of an Ikgong. In addition, the columns are not aligned with each other because the columns of both compartments are out of the center rather than the columns of the center of the five compartments of the columns do not match each other. Based on this, architectural historical circles initially built five bays in pairs, but later added one space to each side to make it seven bays. Recently, however, a new claim has been made that it was built with seven bays from the beginning. Therefore, this paper proved that Jukseoru were expanded through historical data. We also looked at the characteristics of the Jukseoru period and the process of transformation through comparison of the bracket type.

Horizontal and vertical profiles of PCBs in sediments from southeastern coastal areas of Korea

  • The concentrations of 20 congeners of PCBs were determined in surficial and dated sediments from Jinhae, Busan, Ulsan and Yeongil Bay of Korea to assess current distributions as well as historical trends. The concentration ranges of total CBs in sediments were nd-138.60 ng/g dry wt. The concentrations of total CBs were significantly different among bays in the southeastern coastal areas (Kruskal-Wallis Test, p=0.036), Showing the Order Of Busan>Ulsan>Yeongil>Jinhae Bay. Predominant PCB homologues were penta-, hexa- and hepta-CBs. The down-core distributions of PCBs showed that the highest concentrations occurred in the late 1960s, coinciding with the onset of industrialization of Korea. The compositions of PCB congeners in sediment among bays were uniform, suggesting that major sources were not changed over time.

통일한국 북측해역 기선설정에 관한 쟁점연구 - 국가승계론을 중심으로 (A Study on the Maritime Baseline of the Unified Korea's Northern Part : Focused on the State-Succession)

  • This study is intended for the Maritime Boundaries(Baseline) of the Unified Korea. According to the international law, North-Korea is recognized as a nation. Then with unification, the state succession will be a very important issue. Thus we should seek for the expected problems and counter-measures, by analyzing of the State-succession. There is a conflict of the positive or negative reaction about the state succession. However, in general, 'the principle of continuity' has been applied for at the national border treaty, regardless of the type of State succession. This can be found on Article 11 & 12 of the 「1978 Vienna Convention on Succession of States in Respect of Treaties」, Article 62, paragraph 2 of the 「1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties」, and a series of international case law. Currently it is being understood as customary international law. In summary, although South and North Korea, China, Russia and Japan are not the parties of 「1978 Vienna Convention」, the unified Korea will necessarily have a duty to succeed national boundaries(also, maritime baseline) of North Korea. Specifically, we have an objective and rigorous review of the treaty of maritime baseline that is signed between North Korea and neighboring countries, such as 「National Border Treaty Regime between North Korea and China」 and 「Treaty between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the Democratic people's Republic of Korea on the Demarcation of the Soviet-Korea National Border」. Also, we analyzed 'Historical Bays' and 'Straight Baseline' system. By this, we are able to occupy a favorable position when renegotiating with neighboring countries, at the point of unification.

GPR 탐사를 통해 본 경주 첨성대 기초 및 주변의 유구 분석 (GPR Analysis on Underground Features and Foundation Structure of Cheomseongdae, Gyeongju)

  • 별을 관측하는 천문대로 잘 알려진 경주 첨성대는 그 모양과 성격이 독특하고 원래의 모습으로 잘 보존되어 있어 역사적·학술적·예술적 가치가 높은 문화재이다. 그동안 많은 연구자들이 첨성대의 외부 구조와 지반 안전성, 지진 재해 위험도 평가 연구 등 과학적인 조사를 이용한 첨성대의 평가를 진행해왔으나 첨성대의 지하 구조에 대해서는 조사가 매우 미흡하였다. 이 논문에서는 첨성대와 관련한 주변의 매장문화재 존재 여부와 첨성대의 기초부를 확인하기 위하여 지하투과레이더(GPR) 탐사를 수행하고 2차원과 3차원 영상을 통해 첨성대의 지하 구조를 정밀 분석하였다. 그 결과, 0.4~0.6m 깊이에서는 절반 정도만 남아 있긴 하지만 12개의 작은 물체들이 원형의 배치를 이루고 있고, 0.7~1m 깊이에서는 정면 4칸, 측면 3칸의 건물지로 추정되는 반응이 첨성대를 중심으로 주변에 분포하는 것이 확인되었다. 또한 첨성대의 직하부에는 이미 알고 있는 2단의 기단부 외에 7×7m 크기의 방형 시설이 깊이 0.6m에 존재하며, 깊이 1.2~3m에서는 첨성대의 기초시설로 추정되는 반응이 확인되었다. 이 기초시설은 동서 11m, 남북 12m의 타원형이며 첨성대 기단을 중심으로 북·서·동측면은 1m 이내로 짧고 남측면은 5m 정도로 넓게 분포하고 있다.

The effect of typhoon translation speed and landfall angle on the maximum surge height along the coastline

  • Storm Storm event is one of major issues in South Korea due to devastating damage at its landfall. A series of statistical study on the historical typhoon records consistently insist that the typhoon translation speed (TS) is on slowdown trend annually, and thus provides an urgent topic in assessing the extreme storm surge under future climate change. Even though TS has been regarded as a principal contributor in storm surge dynamics, only a few studies have considered its impact on the storm surge. The landfall angle (LA), another key physical factor of storm surge also needs to be further investigated along with TS. This study aims to elucidate the interaction mechanism among TS, LA, coastal geometry, and storm surge synthetically by performing a series of simulations on the idealized geometries using Delft3D FM. In the simulation, various typhoons are set up according to different combinations of TS and LA, while their trajectories are assumed to be straight with the constant wind speed and the central pressure. Then, typhoons are subjected to make landfall over a set of idealized geometries that have different depth profiles and layouts (i.e., open coasts or bays). The simulation results show that: (i) For the open coasts, the maximum surge height (MSH) increases with increasing TS. (ii) For the constant bed level, a typhoon normal to the coastline resulted in peak MSH due to the lowest effect of the coastal wave. (iii) For the continental shelf with different widths, the slow-moving typhoon will generate the peak MSH around a small LA as the shelf width becomes narrow. (iv) For the bay, MSH enlarges with the ratio of L/E (the length of main-bay axis /gate size) dropping, while the greatest MSH is at L/E=1. These findings suggest that a fast-moving typhoon perpendicular to the coastline over a broad continental shelf will likely generate the extreme storm surge hazard in the future, as well as the slow-moving typhoon will make an acute landfall over a narrow continental shelf.

사천만 연안의 지역 변화에 관한 연구 -교통.수산업.공업 기능의 변화를 중심으로- (The Historical Geography of Sacheon Bay Region -with Special Reference to Transportation, Fishery, and Industry-)

  • 경남 남해안의 사천만 연안은 경남 서부지역의 관문 역할을 수행하였고, 그로 인해 군사적 요충지로 간주되었으며, 갯벌이 넓고 각종 수산자원이 풍부하여 일직부터 양식업과 어로업이 활발하였다. 이와 같이 사천만 연안은 역사적으로 경남 서부지역에서 해상교통 및 군사적 요충지, 또한 수산업이라는 기능면에서 매우 중요한 역할을 수행하여 왔다. 그런데 오늘날 사천만 연안에는 공항과 고속도로가 확충되어 항공 육상교통의 기능이 중요하게 부상하고 있고, 공단이 조성되어 많은 제조업체들이 입지함으로써 공업기능이 새로운 기능으로 대두되고 있다. 또한 사천만 연안의 육상 및 항공교통 발달은 지역의 관광자원개발을 좀 더 구체화시키고 있다. 지역의 전통적 기능들이 쇠퇴하는 대신에 공업, 교통, 관광 등 새로운 기능들이 중요하게 대두되고 있는 것이다. 따라서 사천만 연안 지역이 급격한 지역 변화를 경험하고 있음에 틀림없다. 본 연구의 연구목적은 이 지역에서 급격하게 진행되고 있는 교통 군사 수산업 관광 공업 기능의 변화 과정을 동태적으로 분석 정리함으로써 지역의 특성을 구명하는 데 있다. 특히 본 논문은 이 지역의 전통적 기능들과 오늘날 부상하고 있는 다양한 기능들을 밀접한 관련하에서 이해할 수 있음을 서술적으로 밝히고 있다.
