Primary pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) is rare, with a more favorable prognosis compared with that of other types of non-small cell lung cancers. Herein, we describe an interesting case of primary pulmonary LELC confirmed postoperatively, which had been initially diagnosed as poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. We suggest that despite the rarity of pulmonary LELC, it should be included as one of the differential diagnoses for lung malignancies. Physicians should consider taking a larger biopsy, especially when histologic examination shows undifferentiated nature.
The purpose of this literature review was to identify the physiological changes with aging. The results of this renew were to follows : We have seen a wide variety of such changes in the cells and in all organ systems. 1. At least 40 percent of people over 65 will die of cardiac disease, 15 percent of cerebrovascular disease, and possibly another 5 percent of other types of vascular impairment. 2. The increase rigidity of the thoracic wall and the decreased strength of the expiratory muscles decrease the propulsive effectiveness of the cough. 3. The density of capillaries per motor units is decreased. 4. Starting before age 40 in both sexes there is a shift from an increase in bone mass to a progressive decrease. 5. Histologic studies show a lim age-correlated decrease in the number of Pacini's. Merkel's, and Meissner's corpuscles.
From May 1986 to May 1992, 72 patients were diagnosed and operated for primary lung cancer, among them 65 patients were clinically evaluated at the department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, Masan Koryo General Hospital. 1. There were 52 males 13 females[M:F=4:1], and 5th, 6th decade of life[72%] was peak incidence. 2. The preoperative diagnosis and its positive rate were sputum cytology 35%, bronchoscopy 47%, pleural effusion cytology 80%, and pleural biopsy 50%. 3. The classification histologic types were squamous cell cancer 71%, adenocarcinoma 17%, undifferentiated cell carcinoma 4.6%, and staging classification were Stage I 31%, Stage II 22%, Stage IIIa 26%, and Stage IIIb 20%. 4. The operative methods were lobectomy 52%, pneumonectomy 36%, and open biopsy 12%, and operability was 89%, resectability was 88%. 5. The postoperative complications developed 13 patients[22%], and operative mortality was 5%. 6. The overall actuarial survival rate was 1year 70%, 2year 42%, 3year 32%, 4year 26%, and 5year 22%, according to Stage 5year survival rate was Stage I 37%, Stage II 22%, Stage IIIa 3year 12%, Stage IIIb 2year 23%. And according to operative method lobectomy 23%, pneumonectomy 19%.

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on the parotid gland is a relatively rare occurrence among head and neck tumors. The mass of parotid gland lymphoma cannot be distinguished from other benign masses of the parotid gland; therefore, it is important to consider lymphoma in the differential diagnosis when examining parotid swellings and masses. Parotid gland lymphoma is most likely to be B-cell, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of one of three types, which include follicular, marginal zone, and diffuse large B-cell, although other histologic patterns have been described. We present a review of a patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who presented to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Pusan National University Hospital (Yangsan, Korea).
Fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology of breast disease is recognized to be highly accurate and cost effective, especially when this is used in combination with clinical examination and imaging as part of a triple approach. A probabilistic/categorical approach is used for the classification of breast FNA specimens. Criteria are defined from the perspective of the likelihood of making a definitive diagnosis of cancer on excision. This approach is an accurate way of classifying breast FNA specimens, and this can be reliably applied regardless of the level of experience of the pathologist for interpreting the case. When a definitive diagnosis of malignancy is made, the next step is to determining the specific histologic types of the malignancy according to their cytological features. In order to make an accurate diagnosis of carcinoma and for correct typing a tumor, an adequate, correctly sampled aspirate without any other artifacts is required.

Liposarcoma is one of the most common malignancies originating from human soft tissue. Because most of liposarcoma occur in the lower extremities or retroperitoneum, there are few reports about liposarcoma of head and neck region, including larynx and pharynx. Histologically, there are four types of liposarcoma, and prognosis and recurrence rate are different according to histologic subtype. Wide excision is the treatment of choice and liposarcoma hardly respond to primary radiotherapy. A 56-year-old man presented with voice change and foreign body sensation in laryngopharynx. Hypopharyngeal liposarcoma was diagnosed by surgical biopsy and performed totallaryngopharyngoesophagectomy and gastric pull-up. Here we report our experience on this case with review of literature.
Background and Objective : Bone morphogenic protein-2 (BMP-2) plays an essential role in mesenchymal cell differentiation into osteoblasts، through many intracellular pathways which may also be active in tumors. Invasive oral squamous cell carcinomas account for more than 90% of head and neck malignancies in many cancer registries. They are classified into three types according to epithelial cell differentiation. The present study aimed to identify any relation between BMP-2 expression and tumor histology. Materials and methods: BMP-2 expression was compared immunohistochemically among 30 cases (19 male and 11 female, mean age 48 years) of oral squamous cell carcinoma, Division was into 3 groups (each containing 10 cases) according to the histological grade. Results: No significant correlation between BMP-2 expression and histological grade was observed. Changes in localization and cytoplasmic staining were also not apparent. Conclusion: From the results of this study BMP-2 does not appear to have any application as a prognostic marker for oral squamous cell carcinomas.
Castleman's disease was originally described as a localized mediastinal lymph node enlargement characterized by angiofollicular hyperplasia and intrafollicular capillary proliferation, with surgical removal of mass the only treatment required. It has been divided into two distict histologic types. The hyaline-vascular type is more common and characterized by small hyaline-vascular follicles and interfollicular proliferation. The plasma-cell type is occurred less frequent and more likely to present with constituitional symptoms. It commonly involves the mediastinal and pulmonary lymph nodes, with neck involvement in only 15% to 20% of cases. We report two cases of hyaline-vascular type of Castleman's disease located in the neck area with references to recent literature.
From dye-assisted conventional chromoendoscopy to novel virtual chromoendoscopy, image-enhanced endoscopy (IEE) is continuously evolving to meet clinical needs and improve the quality of colonoscopy. Dye-assisted chromoendoscopy using indigo carmine or crystal violet, although slightly old-fashioned, is still useful to emphasize the pit patterns of the colonic mucosa and predict the histological structures of relevant lesions. Equipment-based virtual chromoendoscopy has the advantage of being relatively easy to use. There are several types of virtual chromoendoscopy that vary depending on the manufacturer and operating principle. IEE plays distinctive roles with respect to histologic characterization of colorectal polyps and prediction of the invasion depth of colorectal cancers. In addition, the newest models of IEE have the potential to increase adenoma and polyp detection rates in screening colonoscopy.

Aims: To determine the clinical, pathological and prognostic features associated with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Methods: Clinical and histologic data of 21,749 breast cancer patients who were treated at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital between July 2002 and December 2011 were collected. Patients were divided into two groups: those with TNBC and those with other types of breast cancer. Patients and tumor characteristics were compared between the two groups using the Chi-square test. The prognostic results of 9,823 patients in the study population were also analyzed to determine long-term survival rates in the two groups of breast cancer patients. Results: Among the breast cancer patients treated in our hospital between 2003 and 2011, 10.4%-13.5% of them had triple-negative breast cancers. Data analyses revealed significant differences in disease onset age, family history of breast cancer, tumor size, tumor histologic grade, lymph note positivity and metastatic status between TNBC and non-TNBC patients. There were also significant differences in 5-year, 7-year and 9-year disease-free and 7-year and 9-year overall survival probability between the groups. Conclusions:TNBC are associated with younger disease onset age, larger tumor size, higher rate of axillary lymph node positivity, and higher tumor histologic grade. TNBC is also related to family history of breast cancer, increased metastatic risk and poor prognosis.
