A novel three-level DC/DC converter (TLC)for high power applications operating from high input voltage Is proposed. Its switch voltage stress can be ensured to be only one-half of the Input voltage. Nevertheless, since all input voltage is applied to the transformer primary side, it has good turns ratio. The driving method of each module is same as those of the conventional phase-shifted ZVS full bridge PWM converter (PSFB) and the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) of the leading leg are achieved exactly in the same manner as that of the PSFB. Moreover, its three-level operation can considerably reduce the current ripple through the output inductor and it has no problems of the DC-link voltage unbalance. Therefore, it features a low voltage stress, high efficiency, low EMI, high power density, and small sized filter. To confirm the operation, validity, and features of the proposed circuit, experimental results from a 200W, 600V/DC-48V/DC prototype are presented.

A self oscillation DC/DC converter which has a very desirable characteristics of the high input-output voltage conversion ratio for high voltage DC power supply applications is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter is composed of one power switch, one inductor, several capacitors and diodes. Compared with conventional high-voltage DC/DC converters, it performs the high- voltage power conversion using the inductor instead of the bulky step-up transformer. Therefore, it can reduce the size of magnetic device and save the cost. Moreover, since it needs no control IC by using self oscillation circuit and has lower voltage stress on output diodes, it features a lower cost, simpler structure and more improved performance. Finally, a comparative analysis and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed converter.

This paper proposes a new non-isolated DC conversion circuit topology of the voltage source coupled inductor series resonant high-frequency PFM controlled boost chopper type DC-DC power converter using two in one IGBT power module, which can efficiently operate under a principle of zero current soft switching for wide output regulation voltage setting ranges and wide fluctuation of the input DC side voltage as well as the load variation ranges. Its steady state operating principle and the output voltage regulation characteristics in the open-loop-based output voltage control scheme without PI controller loop are described and evaluated from theoretical and experimented viewpoints. Finally, in this paper the computer-aided simulation steady-state analysis and the experimental results are presented in order to prove the effectiveness and the validity of voltage regulation characteristics of the proposed series resonant zero current soft switching boost chopper type DC-DC power converter circuit using IGBTs which is based on simple pulse frequency modulation strategy more than, 20kHz.

In this paper, a novel circuit topology of a three-winding coupling inductor-assisting a high-frequency PWM boost chopper type DC-DC power converter with a high boost voltage conversion ratio and low switch voltage stress is proposed for the new energy interfaced DC power conditioner in solar photovoltaic and fuel cell generation systems. The operating principle in a steady state is described by using its equivalent circuits under the practical condition of energy processing of a lossless capacitive snubber. The newly-proposed power MOSFET boost chopper type DC-DC power converter with the three-winding coupled inductor type transformer and a single lossless capacitor snubber is built and tested for an output power of 500W. Utilizing the lower voltage and internal resistance power MOSFET switch in the proposed PWM boost chopper type DC-DC power converter can reduce the conduction losses of the active power switch compared to the conventional model. Therefore, the total actual power conversion efficiency under a condition of the nominal rated output power is estimated to be 81.1 %, which is 3.7% higher than the conventional PWM boost chopper DC power conversion circuit topology.
This paper presents a new circuit topology of DC busline switch and snubbing capacitor-assisted full-bridge soft-switching PWM inverter type DC-DC power converter with a high frequency link for low voltage large current applications as DC feeding systems, telecommunication power plants, automotive DC bus converters, plasma generator, electro plating plants, fuel cell interfaced power conditioner and arc welding power supplies. The proposed power converter circuit is based upon a voltage source-fed H type full-bridge high frequency PWM inverter with a high frequency transformer link. The conventional type high frequency inverter circuit is modified by adding a single power semiconductor switching device in series with DC rail and snubbing lossless capacitor in parallel with the inverter bridge legs. All the active power switches in the full-bridge inverter arms and DC busline can achieve ZVS/ZVT turn-off and ZCS turn-on commutation operation. Therefore, the total switching losses at turn-off and turn-on switching transitions of these power semiconductor devices can be reduced even in the high switching frequency bands ranging from 20 kHz to 100 kHz. The switching frequency of this DC-DC power converter using IGBT power modules is selected to be 60 kHz. It is proved experimentally by the power loss analysis that the more the switching frequency increases, the more the proposed DC-DC converter can achieve high performance, lighter in weight, lower power losses and miniaturization in size as compared to the conventional hard switching one. The principle of operation, operation modes, practical and inherent effectiveness of this novel DC-DC power converter topology is proved for a low voltage and large current DC-DC power supplies of arc welder applications in industry.

High Step-up DC-DC Converters have been demanded for renewable energy applications. Transformer or coupled inductor is generally used to boost output voltage of converters. This methods can relatively obtain high voltage than others, whereas have heavy weight and high cost. To complement these disadvantages, we studied transformerless high step-up DC-DC converter. In various transformerless topologies, Boost converters combined with Cockcroft-Walton have studied. In this paper, we proposed a symmetrical Cockcroft-Walton circuit for transformerless high step-up DC-DC converter. Finally, we simulated proposed converter to compare with existing converter. As a result, proposed converter has higher duty ratio or lower cost than existing transformerless converters which are discussed in this paper.

An LCL-type Isolated dc-dc converter operating for constant output voltage is analyzed, including the effect of a high frequency transformer using ac complex circuit approximation. Its solution is derived and is used to obtain the characteristics of the proposed converter. The analyses show through converter modeling, phasor diagram and gain comparison that inclusion of a high frequency transformer results in introduction of magnetizing inductance and leakage inductances at conventional LCL dc-dc converter with ideal transformer. The theoretical and simulation results are presented in case of the wide variations in input voltage and load current in detail. Analysis and simulation results observed that introduction of a transformer in the dc-dc converter had considerable effect on the performance, especially in the case of low output voltage and large load.

We report the performance of an open-frame type low-voltage high-current DC-DC converter module developed using an active clamp forward converter circuit and current doubler rectifier. The converter module is designed with the specifications of an 1.8V output voltage, 25A output current, and 36-75V input voltage. The synchronous rectifier is used to reduce the conduction fuss at high current level and current-mode control is adapted to enhance the flexibility in the system configuration. A prototype converter module is successfully implemented within 10mm height and half brick size (58${\times}$61mm), and recorded an 84% efficiency and 4% voltage regulation for the entire input voltage range, thereby demonstrating its application potentials to future telecommunication electronics.

This paper presents a switched capacitor (SC) based bidirectional dc-dc converter topology for high voltage gain applications. The proposed converter is able to operate with multiple integral voltage conversion ratios based on user input. The architecture of a user-friendly, inductor-less multi-voltage-gain bidirectional dc-dc converter is proposed in this study. The inductor-less or magnetic-less design of the proposed converter makes it effective in higher temperature applications. Furthermore, the proposed converter has a reduced component count and lower voltage stress across its switches and capacitors when compared to existing SC converters. An output impedance analysis of the proposed converter is presented and compared with popular existing SC converters. The proposed converter is simulated in the OrCAD PSpice environment and the obtained results are presented. A 200 W hardware prototype of the proposed SC converter has been developed. Experimental results are presented to validate the efficacy of the proposed converter.
