This paper presents the research activities performed to date for the development of a supercritical pressure water-cooled reactor (SCWR) in Korea. The research areas include a conceptual design of an SCWR with an internal flow recirculation, a reactor core conceptual design, a heat transfer test with supercritical $CO_2$, an adaptation of an existing safety analysis code to the supercritical pressure condition, and an evaluation of candidate materials through a corrosion study. Methods to reduce the cladding temperature are introduced from two different perspectives, namely, thermal-hydraulics and core neutronics. Briefly described are the results of an experiment on the heat transfer at a supercritical pressure, an experiment that is essential for the analysis of the subchannels of fuel assemblies and the analysis of a system safety. An existing system code has been adapted to SCWR conditions, and the process of a first-hand validation is presented. Finally, the corrosion test results of the candidate materials for an SCWR are introduced.

This study was carried out to investigate the injection characteristics of 800 kPa compressed natural gas compressed natural gas (CNG) injector developed in Korea. The CNG injector with multi-holes, employed in this experiment, was designed to inject CNG in the manifold at high pressure of 800 kPa. The spray macroscopic visualization test was carried out via Schlieren photography to study fuel-air mixing process. The fundamental spray characteristics, such as spray penetration, spray cone angle and spray velocity, were evaluated in the constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) with varying the constant back pressure in CVCC from 0 to 1.8 bar. For the safety reason, nitrogen ($N_2$) and an acetone tracer were utilized as a surrogate gas fuel instead of CNG. The surrogate gas fuel pressures were controlled at 3, 5.5, and 8 bar, respectively. Injection durations were set at 5 ms throughout the experiment. The simulating events of the low engine speed were arranged at 1,000 rpm. The spray images were recorded by using a high-speed camera with a frame rate of 10,000 f/s at $512{\times}256pixels$. The spray characteristics were analyzed by using the image processing (Matlab). The results showed the significant difference that higher injection pressure had more effect on the spray shape than the lower injection pressure. When the injection pressure was increased, the longer spray penetration occurred. Moreover, the linear relation between speed and time are dependent on the injection pressure as well.

After steel bar was corroded it removes concrete contaminated, it does steel bar corrosion protection, repairing method and corrosion inhibitor spreading method are difficult to secure corrosion protection performance. Accordingly, in this research before Research and Development to penetrate corrosion inhibitor to high pressure by steel bar position, it measures penetration depth through corrosion inhibitor high pressure penetration experiment and amount of nitrite by position and then it predicts penetration depth in accordance with water-cement ratio, pressure, pressure time and it computed water-cement ratio, pressure, pressure time to be more than 0.6 mol ratio of chloride ion and nitrite to have outstanding corrosion protection performance. As a result of experiment, water-cement ratio gives the biggest influence to penetration of corrosion inhibitor and also the more depth of specimen becomes deep, concentration of penetrated corrosion inhibitor does not equal and becomes low.
A girdle is a body-shaping article of clothing. The garment pressure of the girdle is considered an indispensable factor. The purpose of this study was to identify changes in body size and distribution of garment pressure after donning the girdle. The changes of body size and garment pressure were analyzed by body types. Korean women (n=19) in their 20s participated in the experiment. Their body types were classified according to four factors: the index value(hip girth-waist girth), and waist, hip, and thigh girths. The garment pressure was measured at 12 points. The results of this study showed that the hip and thigh girths were reduced mostly after donning the girdle. These values were 2.0~2.8cm and 1.7~2.3cm, respectively. The garment pressure was high at the waist band, the hip joint, and the gluteal furrow region at the back. The subjects whose waists, thighs, or hips were well developed showed great garment pressure in the hip area, but their hip girth decreased very little. The subjects with less developed or slim thighs or hips showed a slimming effect, with moderate pressure in the hip and thigh regions. These results show that the hip and thigh can be slimmed with moderate pressure by donning a thigh-length girdle. High garment pressure is not necessary for the girdle's body shaping effect. The hip area is hard to get body slimming effect with high garment pressure. The current girdle sizing system needs to be revised in order to lower garment pressure in the hip region. The researchers suggest using 3cm size intervals rather than 6cm size intervals for hip girth.

When a front head of train enters a tunnel at a high speed, compression wave is generated at tunnel entrance due to the confinement effect and propagated along the tunnel with sound of speed. The propagated compression wave is reflected at tunnel exit due to abrupt pressure change at passage. The reflected wave is expansion pressure wave. And when the rear head of train goes through the tunnel entrance, another expansion pressure wave is generated and propagated along the tunnel. The pressure drop occurs seriously around train when the two expansion pressure waves come cross on train in the tunnel. In order to reduce the pressure drop, the compression wave front must be controlled because the intensity and magnitude of pressure drop is nearly proportional to that of compression wave at tunnel entrance. This study relates to reduction of the pressure wave gradient with respect to tunnel entrance shape change with various kind of angle and rounding. The results show characteristics of wave propagation in tunnel, usefulness of characteristic curve to estimate proper time domain size in numerical study and measuring time in actual experiment. Also rounding is contributed to improve pressure wave front even if its radius is very small at tunnel entrance. In order to improve of pressure wave front at tunnel entrance, proper angle is prefered to rounding with big radius and an angle of around 14$^{\circ}$ is recommended according to this simulations, And it is expected to reduce additional pressure drop in tunnel when the location and the size of the internal space for attendant equipment are considered in advance.
Eight tight sandstone reservoir samples from $He_8$ and $Shan_1$ Formations of the Sulige Gas field were selected to perform gas-water micro-displacement experiment based on authentic sandstone micro-model. The gas pressure-relief experiment was proposed for the first time to simulate the pressure change and gas-water percolation characteristics in the process of gas exploitation. The experiment results show that: (1) In the process of gas accumulation, the gas preferentially flows into the well-connected pores and throats with large radius, but rarely flows into the area without pores and throats. (2) Under sufficient gas drive, the water in pores and throats usually exists in the forms of 'thin water film', 'thick water film', and 'water column', but under insufficient gas drive, gas fails to flow into new pathways in time, so that the reservoirs with large pores and throats are high in water cut. (3) Under the same water saturation, the reservoirs with better petrophysical properties has higher gas recovery factor within unit time. Under the same petrophysical conditions, the reservoirs with lower water saturation show higher gas recovery factor within unit time. The higher the permeability, the stronger the liquid carrying capacity of reservoirs.

The atomization process of a circular $SF_{6}$ liquid jet issued into an otherwise quiescent, high-pressure $N_2$ gas was observed to explore the breakup mechanism of liquid ligaments involved in turbulent atomization. Both liquid and gas temperatures were fixed at a room temperature but the gas pressure was elevated to more than twice the critical pressure of $SF_{6}$. Therefore, the liquid surface was in a thermodynamic state close to a critical mixing condition with suppressed vaporization. Since the surface tension and the surface gas density approach zero and the surface liquid density, respectively, phenomena equivalent to those which would appear when a very high speed laminar flow of water were injected into the atmospheric-pressure air can be observed by issuing $SF_{6}$ liquid at low speeds in micro-gravity environment which avoid disturbances due to gravity forces. The instability ob near-critical mixing surface jet was quantitatively characterized using a newly developed device, which could issue a very small amount of $SF_{6}$ liquid at small constant velocity into a very high-pressure $N_2$ gas.
An experiment on the expression and dewatering of chinese cabbage was conducted in order to investigate its dewatering behavior. Chopped cabbage was packed into cylinder and pressed by piston upto the predetermined pressure on Instron-1000. The rates of dewatering were affected domintantly by the applied pressure, but not significantly by the packed amount of cabbage in the cylinder. The pressure effect was increased very abruptly at first, but the increase rate was very low at high pressure greater than 20 MPa, showing great deviation from linear dependence of flow rate on pressure in Darcy's Law. Therefore, water expression from cabbage was not Newtonian flow of water through cell wall. In fact, the squeezed water contained a lot of solid particles, about 3% of solid cabbage particles, showing destruction of cell wall. It appeared that compression and dewatering of vegetable wastes in the low pressure. under 20 MPa, is more desirable for later treatment of the dewater. More researches are needed in order to develop a treatment method for the solid particles in the expressed water before an expeller treatment system can be applied to vegetable wastes.

It was discussed about explosion danger of hydrogen gas experimentally that could be happen during the handling and using. Hydrogen concentration was varied from 10 to 60 vol% for get the explosion characteristics of hydrogen and 5 kinds of cylindrical vessel were used to find the explosion characteristics of hydrogen according to the vessel volume. Initial pressure of hydrogen-air mixture was varied from 0.6 to 2 kg/cm2. Based on the experiment, explosion pressure was most high near the 30vol% of hydrogen and explosion pressure was increased slightly according to the increase of vessel volume but explosion pressure rise rate was decreased. Explosion pressure was increased linearly proportional to the initial pressure of gas mixture.
Experimental study is conducted to clarify the inside and outside pressure variation of passenger cabin for KTX. These pressure variation may give rise to the ear-discomfort. Generally ear-discomfort has been considered as a problem related to high speed train. In this study, the pressure variation of interior, gangway and exterior of KTX passenger car is measured by using the atmospheric pressure sensors and portable data acquisition system. The tunnel from 4000m to 200m in length are chosen for the investigation of length effects. From the results of experiment, the pressure variation of interior per second is under the ear-discomfort limitation in all of tunnel. And, We found that there is a similar pattern of exterior pressure variation. These results generally agree with RTRI's experimental result for Shinkansen.
