We have developed a 270-W 15-kHz MOPA system based on side-pumped rod-type Nd:YAG gain modules. The master oscillator is a 3-W 15-kHz $TEM_{00}$$Nd:YVO_4$ laser with a pulse duration of 30 ns. To preserve the high beam quality during the amplification, we use image relay and polarization rotation which can simultaneously compensate for thermal lensing and thermal birefringence generated in the rod-type gain modules. After the amplification to 270 W with six rod-type gain modules, the beam quality factor ($M^2$) of the amplified laser beam is 5-10, and the pulse duration is maintained at 30 ns.
We report a passive Q-switching of an all-fiber erbium-doped fiber laser delivering high pulse energy by using a high quality single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (SWCNT-SA). A side-polished fiber coated with the SWCNT is employed as an in-line SA for evanescent wave interaction between the incident light and the SWCNT. This lateral interaction scheme enables a stable Q-switched fiber laser that generates high pulse energy. The central wavelength of the Q-switched pulse laser was measured as 1560 nm. A repetition rate frequency of the Q-switched laser is controlled from 78 kHz to 190 kHz by adjusting the applied pump power from 124 mW to 790 mW. The variation of pulse energy from 51 nJ to 270 nJ is also observed as increasing the pump power. The pulse energy of 270 nJ achieved at maximum pump power is 3 times larger than those reported in Q-switched all-fiber lasers using a SWCNT-SA. The tunable behaviors in pulse duration, pulse repetition rate, and pulse energy as a function of pump power are reported, and are well matched with theoretical expectation.

The application field of the pulse power is very wide. Recently, Pulse power technologies take a large place in several applications. Then, many civil and military applications proceed. Marx generator is widely used in high voltage applications. Marx generator is widely used in high voltage applications, such as eletromagnetic wave and power lasers. This paper, we described about the high voltage pulse generator. A compact size high voltage pulse generator with nanosecnd rise time has been fabricated and investigated experimentally. The marx generator has 2 stages. Each stage was constructed one charging capacitor, two electrodes and one charging resistor. A inductance structure is used in order to improve the switching performances fo the whole generator. The experiments of rise time in pure gas and mixtures of gases were described. We tested the Marx generator at different insulation gas. the results show that the dielectric strength of the $N_2-SF_6$ mixture was significantly increased compared with pure nitrogen gas. The experimental results show that the rise time characteristics of the Marx generator can be controlled through varying insulation gas.

We designed and fabricated dichroic filters for high-power fiber lasers to protect the pumping laser diode from counterpropagating laser beams. The transmittance at laser diode wavelengths of 905 nm~925 nm was designed to be less than 0.1% and the transmittance at the fiber laser or Brillouin scattering wavelengths of 1020 nm ~ 1100 nm was designed to be more than 99.9%. Since oxide materials have good adhesion to the $SiO_2$ substrate, $SiO_2/Ta_2O_5$ were used as coating materials. The filter was fabricated according to our optimized design and its characteristics were compared with the theoretical design. As a result, the transmittance at laser diode wavelengths of 905 nm~925 nm was measured to be less than 0.1%, and the transmittance at the fiber laser or Brillouin scattering wavelengths of 1020 nm~1100 nm was measured to be more than 95.5%, which coincided well with the theoretical design considering processing errors. The filter was found to operate well over 1W of input laser power.
We report on high-power continuous-wave operations of an Er:YAG ceramic laser in-band pumped by a cladding-pumped Er,Yb fiber laser at 1532 nm. With an output coupler of 10% transmission, the ceramic laser yielded 16.7 W of continuous-wave output at 1645 nm for 28.8 W of incident pump power, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 61.0% with respect to the incident pump power. The lasing wavelength switched to 1617 nm when output couplers of > 20% transmission were used. Up to 16.2 W of 1617 nm output was generated for 33.0 W of incident pump power, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 51.8%. Graphene Q-switched operation of Er:YAG cermic laser at 1645 nm was also demonstrated with stable pulses of 30-74 kHz repetition rates and 1.5-6.4 ${\mu}s$ pulse widths.
This study focuses on investigating the impact of the spectral linewidth of a seed laser in a master-oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) configuration on stimulated Brillouin scattering and the beam quality of the output diffracted by a grating. To conduct the study, a distributed feedback (DFB) laser is modulated in a pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) and amplified by a two-stage Yb-doped fiber amplifier to achieve an output power of over 1 kW. The spectral linewidth of the seed laser is systematically varied from 1 to 12 GHz in the frequency domain by varying the PRBS modulation parameters. The experimental results reveal a tradeoff between suppressing stimulated Brillouin scattering and enhancing beam quality with increased spectral linewidth. Therefore, the study provides valuable insights into optimizing spectral beam combining to achieve high beam quality and scalable power upgrade in fiber lasers.

The laser material processing has replaced a conventional material processing such as a welding, cutting, drilling and surface modification and so on. LTH(Laser Transformation Hardening) is one branch of the laser surface modification process. A lot of energy is needed for the LTH process to elevate workpiece surface to temperature of the austenite transformation($A_3$), which results from utilizing a beam with a larger size and lower power intensity comparatively. The absorptivity of the laser energy with respect to material depends on the wave length of a beam. This study is related to the surface hardening for the rod-shaped carbon steel by the high power diode laser(HPDL) whose beam absorptivity is better than conventional types of lasers such as $CO_2$ or Nd:YAG laser. Because a beam proceeds on the rotating specimen the pretreated hardened-phase can be tempered and softened by the overlapping between hardened tracks. Accordingly, the longitudinal hardness measurement and observation of the micro structure was carried out for an assessment of the hardening characteristics. In addition, a hardening characteristics as a hardenability of materials was compared in the point of view of the hardness distribution and hardening depth and width.

$C_{x}F_{y}$ polymer film was deposited in rf and dc Fluorinert vapor ($C_{7}F_{16}$) plasmas. In the plasma phase, the spatial distribution of optical emission spectra and the temporal concentration of decomposed species were monitored, and kinetics of the $C_{7}F_{16}$ decomposition process was discussed. Deposition of $C_{x}F_{y}$ film has been tried on substrates of stainless steel, glass, molybdenum and silicon wafers at room temperature in the vapor pressures of 40 and 100 Pa. The films deposited in the rf plasma showed excellent electrical properties as an insulator for multi-layered interconnection of deep-submicron LSI, i.e. the low dielectric constant ∼2.0, the dielectric strength ∼2 MV/cm and the high deposition rate ∼100nm/min at 100W input power.

Laser surface hardening is an effective technique used to improve the tribological properties and also to increase the service life of automobile components such as camshafts, crankshatfs, lorry brake drums and gears. High power CO2 lasers and Nd:YAG lasers are employed for localized hardening of materials and hence are of potential application in the automobile industries. The heat is conducted rapidly into the bulk of the specimen causing self-quenching to occur and the formation of martensitic structure. In this investigation, the microstructure features occurring in Nd:YAG laser hardening SM45C steel are discussed with the use of optical microscopic and scanning electron microscopic analysis. Moreover, This paper describes the optimism of the processing parameters for maximum hardened depth of SM45C steel specimens of 3mm thickness by using CW Nd:YAG laser. Travel speed was varied from 0.6m/min to 1.0m/min. The maximum hardness and case depth fo SM45C steel are 780Hv and 0.4mm by laser hardening.
