  • The switching-mode power converter has been widely used because of its features of high efficiency and small weight and size. These features are brought by the ON-OFF operation of semiconductor switching devices. However, this switching operation causes the surge and EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) which deteriorate the reliability of the converter themselves and entire electronic systems. This problem on the surge and noise is one of the most serious difficulties in AC-to-DC converter. In the case of carrier frequency selection, output-voltage of steady state and transient state is fully regulated. A RPWM control method was proposed in order to smooth the switching noise spectrum and reduce it's level. Experimental results are verified by converter operating at 300V/1kW with 5%${\sim}$30% white noise input. Spectrum analysis is performed on the Phase current and the CM noise voltage. The former is measured with Current Probe and the latter is achieved with USN. which are connected to the spectrum analyzer respectively.

  • In this paper, carrier comparison PWM method for voltage control of Vienna rectifier is discussed. In general, in industrial and communications applications, the two-level rectifier is used. However, this two-level rectifier has the limit of high THD and low efficiency. So, the studies of three-level rectifier has been carried out so far, and the Vienna rectifier circuit is the representative. The space vector pulse width modulation(SVPWM) method is generally used for Vienna rectifier, in which voltage vectors and duration time are calculated from the voltage reference. However, this method require very sophisticated and complex calculations, so realizing this method by software is very difficult. To overcome this disadvantage, simple carrier comparison PWM method for Vienna rectifier is proposed which is modified from the carrier comparison method for 3 level inverter. Furthermore, to verify the usefulness of the Vienna rectifier carrier comparison PWM the simulation and experiment are carried out.

  • This paper proposes a new multi-output LLC resonant converter by using single control IC, which has the tight-regulated dual output voltage without additional power devices and controller. The proposed converter has master and slave outputs, of which regulations are achieved by the PWM(pulse width modulation) and PFM(pulse frequency modulation), respectively. Different from the conventional dual-output LLC resonant converter, the proposed converter has no additional post-regulators like a boost converter. Therefore, it features a low cost, small size, and high efficiency. To confirm the validity and prove the superiority of proposed converter, simulated and experimental results on a 50" FHD PDP power set prototype are presented.

  • We suggest a low area and high efficiency switched-mode power supply (SMPS) with a pulse width modulation (PWM) generator based on a pseudo relaxation-oscillating technique. In the proposed circuit, the PWM duty ratio is determined by the voltage slope control of an internal capacitor according to amount of charging current in a PWM generator. Compared to conventional SMPSs, the proposed control method consists of a simple structure without the filter circuits needed for an analog-controlled SMPS or the digital compensator used by a digitally-controlled SMPS. The proposed circuit is able to operate at switching frequency of 1MHz~10MHz, as this frequency can be controlled from the selection of one of the internal capacitors in a PWM generator. The maximum current of the core circuit is 2.7 mA, and the total current of the entire circuit including output buffer driver is 15 mA at 10 MHz switching frequency. The proposed SMPS has a simulated maximum ripple voltage of 7mV. In this paper, to verify the operation of the proposed circuit, we performed simulation using Dongbu Hitek BCD $0.35{\mu}m$ technology and measured the proposed circuit.

  • In this paper, a buck-boost converter using three DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold Voltage MOSFET) switching devices is presented. The efficiency of the proposed converter is higher than that of conventional buck-boost converter. DTMOS with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The threshold voltage of DTMOS drops as the gate voltage increases, resulting in a much higher current handling capability than standard MOSFET. In order to improve the power efficiency at the high current level, the proposed converter is controlled with PWM(pulse width modulation) method. The converter has maximum output current 300mA, input voltage 3.3V, output voltage from 700mV to 12V, 1.2MHz oscillation frequency, and maximum efficiency 90%. Moreover, the LDO(low drop-out) is designed to increase the converting efficiency at the standby mode below 1mA.

In the switching-mode power converter, the output voltage is generally controlled by varying the duty ratio of main switch. When a converter operates in steady state, duty ratio of the converter is kept constant. So the power of switching noise is concentrated in specific frequencies. Generally, to reduce the EMI and improve the immunity of converter system, the switching frequency of converter needs to be properly modulated during a rectified line period instead of being kept constant. Random Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) is performed by adding a random perturbation to switching instant while output-voltage regulation of converter is performed. RPWM method for reducing conducted EMI in single switch three phase discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is presented. The more white noise is injected, the more conducted EMI is reduced. • This paper studies the high frequency PWM (pulse width modulation) driving technique to increase an optical efficiency and to prevent an optical color quenching of blue laser for head up display on vehicles using digital micro mirror device (DMD) panel and yellow phosphor wheel. The proposed approach adaptively drives the current pulse width modulated signals of high optical power of blue laser to increase the lifetime and to decrease the stem temperature of laser. This method stabilizes the temperature of laser according to the driving environment and the forward current capacity. By the proposed method, the brightness of blue laser is improved by about 37% compared to the continuous waveform current driving method.
